Also don't forget the most impactful nerf of them all: They nerfed synchronized swimmer, it is now completely unplayable, and it was already only solid before. Used to be one of the cards you'd play, meanwhile you'd rather suck doodoo than run the nerfed swimmer, that's how poopoo unplayable it is become.

The plants deserved the nerf, they were stronger 60-40 compared to zombies. Now the game might be balanced in terms of plants and zombies.

while there are very questionable nerfs guardian was so strong for so much time the nerfs were very justified

You'd complain about the changes if a pair of cards had all their details swapped lmao (basically changing nothing overall). Of course the recognition of that overall voids it. What I mean is the goal (perhaps 'ethic') is not very good. Also I think we should lean towards the developers not hanging around in the niche competitive community, and even if they were, the majority affected are not in it either. Aside (I don't want this to be a poisoning suggestion, I just wanted to say this), I like the Gravitree change because it's so beautifully deadly.

Another option - weaker tribes open with more tiles revealed, so they have an advantage in city claiming

I have only been countered at 1700s (elo) by Elyrion but lost only twice ever so far and first loss was to Innofunni playing Aquarion himself at 1900 elo. Ridiculously overpowered tribe and the only counter is being in the ocean faster, collecting starfish and spamming rammers + bombers with 15hp and Aquatism. Only Elyrion can build such an OP economy so quickly that they end up in the water fast enough at the same time. Even then my spawn as aquarion sucked and I already beat the same guy once too (with same tribes). Safe to say aquarion needs a nerf and the nerf should be the removal of lost cities. Funnily enough however the current OP aquarion barely became equal to Polaris on WW and archi. Talk about how broken Polaris is...

one of the biggest issues i have with this update is heal not being nerfed. The only thing you need to nerf on the plant side is heal and gaurdian pakage.

The problem I find with glory games is that other than the smallest maps getting to the points required is very easy. So much so that it's basically always going to be the deciding factor for who wins by the end of the game to the point where on bigger maps it's better to not fight your opponents at all but just race for points. On the biggest maps you might not even meet your opponent at all before the game ends. You presented might as the simpler more straight forward game mode but defeating your opponent militarily is infinitely more interesting and complex than getting a certain amount of points. Also I don't see in what way glory insentivises you to break alliances more often if anything I feel like it's the opposite and at the same time different might games also create plenty of situations where it's more efficient not to attack but be peaceful. In theory what you're saying is correct glory theoretically functions like might but with the added complexity of points but because of everything already stated I think glory ends up always having a different win condition that is inherently less interesting than might. Also just in itself stalemates and getting through them can be the most skill intensive part of the game so to have a point sistem as a tie breaker to decide who wins in the end I'm not sure is even better in the first place. I do admit it will be nice for live games that you dont want to take multiple hours.

Yeah, you're bringing up some good points that I didn't even consider. Me and many other people have been hyper focused on specific changes and the many bugs this update introduced, but it's really about all of the buffs and nerfs together creating an imbalance between the plants and zombies. Even if every nerf and buff was well executed, we'd still have a huge problem of plants as a whole getting over-nerfed while zombies now sit on a heap of great cards What I really hope happens is that PopCap, for once, realizes they screwed up and don't make us wait another 6 months for them to make any changes. This isn't an issue they can ignore like the language bug, it's something that deeply affects the retention of their playerbase; both due to the bugs and the balance issues present in their update

Frankly I'm just happy that this game got an update after like 5 years

Edit (rewording): Seedlings bad at videogames and maining Zombies more (surely because plants like GK/RO and DMD OP guys!1!!1) meant that WRs, which is what we think Popcap pretty much takes balancing ideas from, were not representative of card viability, but rather what was commonly used to beat seedlings on ladder (a lot of things can). Also, half of these changes were from a planned thing from 2020, which I think was when Aggro SF was considered one of the best budget decks. You can also sorta see this with IF Pirates nerfs which I don't think were from the 2020 list.
