I make cars go moderately fast.
COMSCC - Watkins Glen TT Lap - T80 Supra - 2.07.4 - August 27, 2024
Not my best work. Ended third in class. The racing excuses today are:
1) With the shifter popping out of gear and the timing coming disconnect on a curb before the laces - distracting me into the heel of the boot - I left quite a bit of time on the table. It also means I have no data for these laps...
2) I had to do an emergency brake fluid flush after my foot went to the floor in the second to last session, so I wasn't fully trusting the car to stop first lap and didn't get to run a TT sim lap with the TT rim set (different size tires)
3) My front left pad was almost gone, versus the right, which was making the car very unstable under braking
4) I threw the car in too much into the final corner to add to the mess
5) The car seemed to pull timing after the first lap, so even though I drove better the following laps, the time was .5 slower each time. Looking at the up and down on the splits, it looks like the issues in the boot alone cost over a second...
There, I feel better now!
There is always next year! Freakin’ amazing track and over 147 mph into the bus-stop is incredible!

After huge downpour, we went out on a drying track. Very slick in a few places. Conditions changed dramatically each lap. Playing it safe to not end up in a wall, but managed class win by 2.5 seconds. I got distracted on this lap catching up to a car, but given pending storms, a rerun was not likely to help me. My first time trials with COMSCC. Leaving plenty of time on the table (better lines, more commitment, better braking), but will grab that will more track time and experience with the car. 2024 GR Supra, stock, except for front sway, brake lines and pads, exhaust, and RT660 tires. Running with Boston BMW. Tons of traffic, had to slow through 9 and into 10 to pass a car, but this was the most clear lap of the weekend. First time on this track, second session with the car. Lots to improve. This was a 1.04.7, but think it would have dropped a few tenths due to traffic in final section. Broke a hair too deep into the chicane, but overall felt like a good lap.

@@mjon5706 I did! Thanks! I’m going with the HTC-Rs. Hopefully going in next week. Waiting to see when the roll cage ships. Went with the RSR. I have Watkins at the end of the month so I really want it all in for that event.

@@mjon5706 I’m driving and having a friend bring an extra set for the TT portion. My parents live near Rochester so heading there early then down on the Sunday before. It’s about an hour out from Watkins. I’ll probably cord my current set that weekend. I have a truck on order but it doesn’t go into production until early September. Will be towing next season.

Great skill and race line control! Take every last inch of the track width to make it the best. May I know what tire pressue you set for RE71RS? I found my tire has exceed worn in the middle of 71RS (between 2 grooves), do you have the same issue?
Thank you! And yes, I have the same issue. It always wears there first. My tires were nearly bald at the end of this session. I’ve tried pressure all over the map, and settled on about 34 front, 32 rear hot.
Great driving! Did you have any fuel starvation after the last couple corners?
Haha how could you tell?! 😅 I think I cut it too close. I ran it too low in an earlier session and it threw a drivetrain warning and 38 codes. Freaked me out. Fortunately a friend had a code reader but I missed two sessions because of it. I’m still new to this car, and track in general, so adding the lesson to the toolbox.🎉
@@00Sova So the last couple corners you take them as a big sweep, anytime this car takes a long right hander, it cuts power and goes into limp mode, pop up codes too. So based on what you said, it is fuel starvation then. A surge tank can help
