    Another video with too much theory for those who already understand how it works. For beginners like me still hard to apply in real workflow. Now I have the same problem that @GAMER ROCKS below. I have a simple bookshelf with 200 cm, when I unwrap with layout map size 4096 px I get 10.98 texel density. If I set higher TD to get more density, even when I set Tiles U with 2 or more tiles, it does not work properly and Maya can't fit their islands with same proportions that I set. Absolutly different in Blender ir work very well...

    Im not sure if you still read comments but I'm getting a massive headache with Texels. When I change my texel density in maya it just resizes the UV shells to proportions way beyond that of the UV workspace square, I don't know what to do...

      @@leoncabrera5635 Hey! So after brainstorming a bit (being sleep deprived didn't help) I managed to figure out just how texels work, all thanks to your videos! Thanks so much brother... Although I had a very big wall I couldn't fit at once in the UV map, I started thinking. That wall isn't even going to be in the main focus so a smaller unit like 5.12 or 6 would do the trick. And as for the closer spots I went ahead and used 10.24. Again, tysm brother. Keep the videos up!

    Using 4k map texel density 10.24/cm maya marmoset .For some reason my normal map quality decrease as object gets smaller than 1m the smaller the smaller object gets the lower the bake is why plz help

    How much high texel density for fps weapons

      FPS weapons are held close to the camera/screen so you should have them textured with a high density. 10.24 px/cm would be a good base/standard to aim for but you could always go higher and then down scale if needed.

      @@leoncabrera5635 well when i bake with higher texel density it works like charm but when i use texel density 10. 24px/cm or or even more like even 40.48 the results are not as good as using complete 0-1 space or like giving it more texel density like 100px/cm or higher gives awesome like it is actual a high poly.

    Thanks for these :) Appreciate the help. I think the mouse macros are a great idea. When people are learning up Maya, they're sometimes told to avoid these tweaks initially, especially if you're switching computers at workspaces occasionally. I'd also recommend using the hotbox whenever possible. It's fairly convenient.

    I read that if using 4k maps then texel density should be 40px/cm and if 1k map then 10px / cm is that right or wrong

      It depends on your project, are you texturing for a real-time application like a game or something that will be pre-rendered, maybe a video for example?

      I'm not familiar with the game or its production but I wouldn't be surprised if they have 4k or even 8k textures that they can downscaling to smaller resolutions depending on the hardware limitations. I think Wang Chen was the character artist who worked on the game, you could try and leave a comment on his artstation to find out. www.artstation.com/wangchen-cg

    Well but i think i found a reason i think it is because the 4 cm size too small and then it is the largest part of tank it still get some bake details but there are parts smaller then a cm in millimeter my guess as i modelled hole tank in 4 cm . I think this size is practically too small for getting good bake even if it has a texel density of 100 or above per cm. But on the other hand the box is 9 meter in size but havae texel density of 2 px/cm get edges baked perfectly. So what do you think try it. Help me out

      @@Glorfindel92 I got it solution 1.model in any size even 1 cm or actual size 2 then create a cube to use as ref like ex a tank is 9 metre length then create that vube with 9 metre lenght then go to side biew and scale 1 cm size tank to 9 metre and dont worry if it looks super big . Scale hole object in 1 group. 3 time for uv when you model is on his actual size i use 10.24 /per cm. Now take faces and cut them merge them and Everything else to get good uv 4. At this point if you will need to use multiple material for my tank t90 bhisma i used 45 material (1 material has 5 texture albedo normal ambient occ. Roughness metallic) or say 45 seprate uv i didn't use udim only 0 1 space. pradeepsinghrathore.artstation.com/ Then just export it and texture seprate material material in substance.

      @@gamerrocks8426 dude your models great i want to ask other thing for example my model is a forklift and there are alot of part someones will 2k or 4k bake and i dont want to loss details in bake if i imprpve texel density then i will have alot of uv map for your model for example how many uv map for your gun or tank model? Is there any limitation for game assets?

    But can u make a video on large and small object uv mapping As i modeled a tank in 4 cm in length and after uv i got a texel density of 100px /cm above. i am using cm as unit. I made a high and a low poly and baked my bake is still low quality. But to check it i created a box of 9 meter in size to use as refrence as 9 m is real length of tank. And uv unwrap box and got 2 px/cm density . But after bake i got smooth edges with proper details. Plz help

      Yes, I will make a video on texturing large and small objects, for now you should watch my texel density guides. The guides will explain how to use texels to nicely distribute the textures onto your object. If you still experience problems I can have a look at your work and give you some recommendations on how to UV map it.

      @@leoncabrera5635 yes your guides were great help i have no issue in matching texel density. But i do get a a issue when i use (get and set texel ) when i do set i get division by zero error. If you know any thing plz help

      That sounds like a problem with your mesh, trying Mesh Cleanup to select faces with zero map, if any are selected you will need to fix them.
