I first saw the Daicon IV opening in a cam rip like this at a comic convention in 1984. No matter the format or the quality, the opening always gives me pleasant chills down my spine. Its really something special.

I have a copy of this on dvd. I've yet to watch it. The trailer looks really good.

This recording made me cry. The time where there was no internet where otaku and geeks would gather at an annual convention to be greeted with what was then Japan’s most innovative work of art made by a small team. Every single effect and sequence of animation leading the audiences to erupt into cheers, “woahs” and applause is a beautiful moment you don’t see every day.

Cool! xD I'm the person who uploaded the English (11 minute) dub to UA-cam a decade ago. Originally it came from a guy in South Africa who inherited a cinema full of old film prints. He would make dvd-r's of a lot of these rare films (many spaghetti westerns, Filipino films and some HK films) and sell online, but he refused to make a dvd-r of the full print of BIG BOSS PART 2. I tried over and over to get him to sell me a dvd-r of the film but to no avail. In the end he sold it to a cinema in Zambia. So this nonsense that I read about the new Blu-ray being copied from the "only" existing print in the world is just not true. There are at least ... *two* prints. Hahaha. Well, or maybe there really only is one now. I reckon that that cinema in Zambia has probably played the shit out of that 35mm print. Too bad.
