Nah it was stock. That was actually one of my first 2 "mods" lol I got that and a short antenna so I could more easily put a car cover on it. But this car is on ode to the 70s so a retro shifter was necessary!

I've thought about that but I really do love the fact that it drives 90mph and is just cruising. I've entertained the idea of 3.90s as a compromise though. That and some cams later down the road.

haha yeah it comes that way to make the clearance around the steering shaft. I thought it was damaged from shipment at first!

​@@JJD-9403look up the motortrend show Engine Masters. They beat the crap out of headers and dyno test them and it made no difference. Crazy but true.

In ever thought I'd have any car "too loud" but holy crap, Borla Ataks were straight up obnoxious lol I could pass a building 200 ft off the road and I'd hear it echo off the building and literally everyone thought you wanted to race them lol

@stevengomez73 I finally hit something in the road with mine which gave me an excuse to go ahead and add the headers lol Caught it right in the x pipe and ripped off an 02 sensor. Custom x pipe is really worth it!

heck yeah man, and yeah I wanted to do a handheld tuner as well but I've heard horror stories about engines blowing. A real tuner can look at your car specifically and install something far better than a box tune. Good luck man, go make some power

A tune is worth 10-15rwhp over running full bolt ons on a stock tune. The 1st run where it made 315rwhp most likely already had adjustments made to the tune for his mods.

You're just looking at peak to peak gains. A tune makes a huge difference in feel and performance because it really improves the power across the power curve. Just looking at peak to peak gains doesn't come close to showing the true difference. Very misleading.

For real, the day to day driving of this thing is night and day. Just sri ING around normally you can feel it pulling much harder. Just seems like it runs "healthier". Could be placebo effect but power is better throughout the entire power band.

Yeah he backed out of it on the first run and had already loaded up a tune from a previous car that had all the same mods as mine. He did that just to get a good baseline. So I don't know how much power the tune actually added but I can definitely feel the difference!

Yup, I got mine from Treadwear.com and they're doing fine. I did take it and autocrossed it one day and the front right tire was pushing, which flexed the sidewall and kinda unstuck one of em but the look is fantastic and turns a lot of heads

Nah, no cats. It does smoke just because they aren't on there. CEL does come on but you can get that turned off with a tune which is what I plan to do maybe next spring

It's hard to tell if I've gained anything at all on the bottom end. Was a little disappointed at first but Once you crack 4k you can tell a big difference though!

@@HitchagoodMotors I put long tube Kooks w/xpipe on my 03 Mach with 2 chamber flowmasters 4:30 gear seemed to loose a bit of torque down low but after 4K it really sounds good.

INCORRECT. "Back pressure" is Never good. Never. When you open it up too much you end up losing the scavenging effect of the exhaust. It's not a loss of back pressure that causes power loss. It's loss of scavenging.

The Mach 1 also has a 4v 4.6. The block and cams are better on the 96-98 but heads and intake are better on the mach and they make more power stock for stock and mod for mod. I love the 96-98s I own a 97 used to own another 97 and also a fbo Mach back in the day.

They're fine for the money. Not everyone needs the most expensive headers out

Thanks for the heads up! At this point, I don't really feel like it's a hassle to work on. Even with jacks and hand tools, it's fun to tinker with so I don't mind too much.

Yeah I've got a throttle body on back order right now so I'll tune it right after that. Then probably leave it alone for a while. Got a wedding coming up so gotta save some money but I'll always want to mod it further lol thanks for dropping by!

@@HitchagoodMotors,if you can, get it dyno'd and then install the tune and get it dyno'd again to see what kind of gains you get for mods without a tune and mods with a tune. If you're not currently running 93 octane you'll probably need to do that after the tune as well.
