    So, these things are intended for powering small electronic devices, is that right? They're not for household lighting, wall outlets, etc, correct??

    • @reviews2you
      @reviews2you 16 днів тому

      This isn't designed to power your house, it's designed to power anything you could plug into your wall as well as DC items. I will be doing a review on this one coming up, but if you want something that can work as a home backup you could get something like this and plug in to a transfer switch. Just note it's for 120v only, not 240v. Also you may need more batteries, it can run up to 6. It's not my favorite home backup option but if you want something plug and play it's half off right now which makes it a pretty good deal: amzn.to/46EeZ9G

      This one has 240v and 120v, but note you can only run one at a time but if you're feeding a transfer switch it can work. There are much more capable units but price starts going way up, not sure what you're aiming for. amzn.to/4cmN2on

    Hey Jason thanks for your content my question is what’s the best way to wire this unit to a 12v fuse block panel? After looking over the unit the 12 volt cigarette plug is not the most reliable connection for the 12v fridge I have in my van. Thanks 😊

    • @reviews2you
      @reviews2you 2 місяці тому

      Hey There - you could take a 12v out cig lighter cable and cut the ends and run them into your fuse block or take it from 110v AC side w/ a step down converter but that would be less efficient. I use temperature monitors in my freezers that notify me if the temp climbs which would be a good way to tell if something had come unplugged or shut off.

    I've had my pair of this model for just a few days and have gotten accustomed to it and thank the designers for the features it was built with. I do plan to look around more for cons so I do not get blind sided by any of them since "cons" are few and far between the "pros" reported by useres. Thanks for your review!!

      Thanks for taking the time to watch. Definitely spend time getting to know how to use it so when the time comes you can put your effort into other things and not learning the generator. Also, I've found if they're going to fail they typically do it early on so use the heck out of it for the first month or two and get to know it and battle test it. I believe they removed the fast/slow switch from the back because the delta 2 has Bluetooth where as the delta only had WiFi it’s a pain to connect just to change one setting when you are not at home you have your connect to the deltas internal WiFi hot spot which once you connect it shuts off your phones mobile data making your phone useless until you disconnect

      The Delta didn't have any connectivity but the Delta 2 has WiFi and Bluetooth and you can adjust the input setting via the app. Would be cool to have a manual switch still on the back for when you didn't have app access (phone dead, not handy while camping etc). In any case, all this time later this is still a great device. Thx for stopping by.

    Hello Jason, question for you or your community. I have the delta 2, with backup delta 2 battery (1800W Output/2700W Peak). I am testing out in a home refridge which, when running, is pulling ~173 watts. When not running, pulls zero watts. After five hours the units (both D2 and backup D2) beeped and turned off. No surge, just tuned off. Is it plausible that the absence of wattage draw when fridge is idle caused the unit to shut down? I re-read the manual and didn't see an obvious caution, but am guessing. Maybe I need to connect anything that draws some type of wattage to keep this from happening?

      Thanks, I just ordered a Delta max with a Delta 2 , instead of an extra battery. An idea I had seems to be real, in the form of next year's Ecoflow 'Ultra'. Batteries and the inverter/controls, are separate units all together! May be the tech will trickle down to smaller units. 240v would be nice in a smaller 15 ish amp unit, too. 3/4 hsp / 8 amp deep well pumps, are everywhere here. Most have starter capicators and do not have a huge starter draw. I run every thing, but a 240 hot water heater, easily on a Honda 35000. It's a; thrifty, trouble free, clean sine wave unit. Pull start is getting old!

      @@christophergallagher531 Yeah I wound up buying a Max 2 w/ a Max 2 spare battery and kept the Detla 2 which can use the Max 2 spare battery. This configuration gives me a lot of flexibility. The industry is moving very quickly, as these are much better than devices we could get just a handful of years ago. We may very well start seeing split phase 240v in more mobile units in the coming years. The Ultra is enticing, I haven't had a chance to check it out. I went a different direction w/ my home backup and will be covering that in a future video.

    about the cable maybe the creators wanted for us to have a clear space for safety and cooling.. not only it needs space for air circulation but if you have a visible cable to have some time and store it correctly you will be aware and no destroy or kick it in accident!!!! as long as the fans are at same sides and opposite. then for sure its strategic trick that extra battery cables to go that way!!!!... prove me wrong. !!! so. what if that cable was in better possition and many of us wouldnt even care to take it out of small spaces so it operates in better place and have better cooling!!! only possible update in any future delta 3 for extra battery possitioning is to have the fans AND the cables front and rear .. but even then the rear has to be far from walls ...

    Xboost is something you by all means try to avoid using, but if you absolutely have no alternative it comes in handly. It lower the voltage so the receiving device will be satisfied regarding amps, like you explained at 35:20 and 38:20. Not all devices will function with a lower voltage though, so use only when absolutely needed. So yes, Ecoflow should as a default have it turned off! So xboost is not really outputting 2200 watt (Amps times voltage) but when it is on it can deal with devices that normally would require 2200 watt (or 10 or 20 amps depending on where you live). It is also not like peak performance as that will last much shorter then xboost. Xboost is for running a high amp thirsty device for longer periods. Basicly if you have a device that wants a lot's of amps and it not very pickly on the voltage, you might get away with it. Think resistive heating, large electric motors etc. Typicly you use it for one device at a time. Do not use it to run multiple devices that total more then 1800 watt. And do not use it when powered into AC at the input side :-) I believe Ecoflow blocked that anyway.

When running on or charging the battery I am fine with the fan-noise, when running on AC(in) it shows this does not have a transfer switch but does AC->DC->AC. Which not only is noisy but also inefficient. That is why I installed a real transfer switch at home which uses the Delta 2 as generator in case the grid goes down.

      Yes, more power, more Watt available to power a bigger load. I would use the Delta 2 in my mini camper time to time (maybe 10, maximum 20 times a year) but mainly as an off grid power (all year round) in a cabin. . I now have 2 solar panels of 150W, 12V Poly (facing South) and use them straight into my Ecoflow Delta 2. I notice that with that, and when Sun is out on the panels, I can charge the Delta 2 to full in well under 3h. I do get shading on the panels during the afternoon and the power drops significantly to only 40Watt. I bought 1 extra solar panel 150W, 12V Mono (facing South-West) and put all 3 in series. Dilemma ; As I only use a relative small percentage of my panels, because I only use it to charge the Delta 2 power station, I would like to benift more from it to have more off grid power and wonder what to do. What's best system wise and what's best budget wise. Do I buy the special extra Delta 2 battery from Ecoflow OR do I go for a DIY setup ? The Extra battery from Ecoflow is at 800,ooEuro and gives an extra 1024Wh but needs to be charged by the Delta 2 itself as it can not be charged or used by itself. The other DIY way has different options but comes at about the same cost for a little more power. As with the extra Delta 2 battery there is no need to buy anything else, no solar regulators, no 12V to 220V converter. On the other hand, with the DIY setup I do need 2x MPPT regulator (take 2x 100,ooEuro) , a 12V 100Ah LiFepo battery (around 500,ooEuro) and a 3000W pure sine converter (around 350,ooEuro) plus wires, fuses etc. (Comes easily at 1000,ooEuro) (And then better put a 4th solar panel of 150W 12V MONO, to balance and have 2x2 panels. I also looked at the GroWatt all in one but that asks for more panels (for minimum requirement start working voltage) That would be a nice system but even more expensive due to extra panels plus I only can put 6 panels (3x2 in slightly different orientation) due to space.

      I solved the problem of having more solar then my Ecoflow can take by using an external battery(100 Ah LFP with heatmats as it is located outside my house) where my solar is dumped. When I see the external is getting full I turn off the AC-in of the EcoFlow battery's I have and they get charged from the solar. That likely means some losses but will also give solar a battery to go when the EcoFlows are full. The external battery is charged with Victron MPPT's that have a load port that can be programmed to shut off when voltage is low, thereby protecting the external battery from getting discharged to much. Ecoflows are set to charge to 95% SOC which is respected both when AC charging as when DC charging........ In that case the electricity can stay in the external battery.

      Interesting, I hadn't noticed that about the battery remaining time moving around until you'd mentioned it. This was an early production unit and they have released a firmware update, I'll have to pay attention on if it still does this. They did make some improvements since I did the review. You can now do silent charging, whereas I hit them a little bit for the noisy charging. I'm not sure what your needs are, but you can check out the Bluetti AC300 and AC500 if you need something much bigger. I prefer those over the Delta Pro because the PV input is greater.

      Thanks for the reply back. I’m a newbie with this stuff. So wasn’t really sure myself. But 1800w isn’t enough. Seen the price of it and what it came with and figured that was a good deal. And took the chance and bought it. Then found out not enough watts. The others are really expensive for me. I decided to just keep the unit and put it threw it’s paces. I live off grid and was trying to give my diesel generator a break from time to time as well give my wallet a break lol. Maybe something other than solar generators would be better for me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Good review I have the river pro and about to buy the delta2 one thing no one is mentioning is if you get the smart generator it would only be able to charge the main unit as it plugs into the plug the additional battery plugs into .. I'm guessing eco flow will release the Delta Max 2 in the new year with lifepo4 battery and increased solar input

      Thank you. Yes it's too bad the spare battery doesn't have a second port so you could daisy chain the smart generator and the spare battery also needs DC output IMO. As a bonus having it's own XT60 input for car/solar charging would be nice. Bluetti does this on their higher end units. However, compared to the River Pro (I have it w/ the spare battery too) the Delta 2 is much better. They also updated the app since my review adding functionality including silent charging. $899 is the cheapest I've seen it and if you email Ecoflow you may be able to talk them in to sending you a free cover. I was able to get one and it's actually pretty nice. Enjoy! amzn.to/3BpPE54

      @@reviews2you Yes, a xt60 on the external battery would be nice so you can charge it while away with the main unit or even charge an array of external battery's and use any of them when needed..... and transfer power to the main unit.... Wondering if we can connect a MPPT controller to the connector of the cable. I believe 48 volt is on it and if that is directly connected to the battery....... I have the river pro from kickstart with the EF-1500 battery. That battery is super. I use it in car to keep my cooler running for days while charging it while driving for sigarette lighter and from solar when not. It is a beast. And during these trips the River Pro can easily stay at home doing it's normal function keeping my internet up and running. I can use the 24 port of the EF-1500 to charge the main unit. Do use have a 24/24 DC for that..... as the voltage on the poles the higher then the input of the R600 can take ;-)

Perhaps a fan will kick on in a bit if he heats up but as of now it's charging at 212w and zero fan noise. Hope that helps

    Will EcoFlow app send a push notification when the battery reaches a low state of charge?

    • @reviews2you
      @reviews2you Рік тому

      No but you can set it to shut off at a certain low state of charge. That is a good recommendation to make to them, though. They did just add some automation in the update that rolled out this week allowing you to set charge/discharge times as well as prioritizing solar charging and the biggest one is to automatically turn on the AC inverter when the machine wakes up. So if it does but is plugged in to solar as soon as the sun comes out and it starts to charge the system and AC inverter will turn on which is huge.

    33:47. Oh it's a **LOT** more than a doubling in cycle count. Jeff Dahn (one of the world's foremost experts in battery chemistry) has shown that if you keep LFP within its sweet spot there is no measurable degradation. The sweet spot being between 80% and 50%. Of course, that's a pretty small window, but if you were to say keep it between 85% and 30% your cycle count is probably 10x that of fully cycling the cells. Basically the closer you stay to the sweet spot, the less wear you put on the cells. Also, the less amount of time you spend outside of the sweet spot the better. (Bad, bad, bad, to completely discharge a battery, and then to store it like that for instance.) These usage guidelines hold true for regular NCM and NCA chemistries as well, just more damage is done as you cycle the cell, and you probably aren't going to avoid wear altogether (though you can seriously cut it down).

    • @reviews2you
      @reviews2you Рік тому

      Yep. I typically do a couple full charges and discharges to program the BMS and test to make sure full capacity is there, then after testing and reviews I set them to run from 30%-90%. Prowse says there is no need as you'll likely calendar age them first and he's probably right, but I'm conservative and still do that when I can.

At some point, someone will come up with a hack on that extension I’m guessing, that can run like a 48v battery. You can do it with the solar input, but 500 watts and it won’t charge kinda sucks. Only other thing I wish would be that it work with the ecoflow smart generator, that is a pretty neat system that has some benefits.

      The dual charge I solved with an external battery(100 Ah LFP with heatmats as it is located outside my house) where my solar is dumped. In that case the electricity can stay in the external battery 2 in nmc is no negative for me because nmc is a no-go for me :-)
