Great interview. I met Leonard in 1978 when I visited Ferris State campus. He recruited me to play Ultimate frisbee for the team. He was as an awesome player and a fantastic coach. We still get together to play a "retro" round of disc golf using UltraStar discs.

These classics are the best and that's solid advice. I've never thrown the Panther, always too worried it would go OOP I've played 20 years and disc subtleties may go un-noticed my beginners. What is also good for new players is to look at the flight numbers, understand what that third number, high speed turn looks like, and see which discs they can make do that. Hint - bigger negative number and lower speed = easier to turn to the right

Nice stuff, makes me wanna try tournaments for sure. The Valkyrie is definitely my favorite mold, still using my great find at Great Lakes in the used section

Cool back story. Leonard Johnson is a gem, he was part of the reason I started playing. Great interview. My favorite Innova mold is the Star Caiman, my first and (so far) only ace disc. One day I will day trip down to your store.

Favorite hole, 2nd hole at The Redwood Curtain in Arcata California. The TeePad is in a giant redwood stump!

Tell me more about this Time Machine that will bring me back to my twenties to play disc golf...shout out to Christopher Kearney! Minnesota love!! My favorite disc golf hole is hole 11 at the Preserve! Love spectating. Otherwise hole 4 on my local course in St. Charles, MN. It has an optional water carry (which is a must for birdie) and low ceiling as you approach the green.
