I was cleaning out a yeti and the lid came down and hit me in the head. Ouch. These coolers are way to heavy and cumberson to be handling a lot. Weight plays a big factor with me. and i like wheels. It makes moving them around so much easier.

Why you shouldn't put food in the basket up above the ice: rarely if ever is the air temperature up above the ice in the cooler at or below 40º F. This has been demonstrated repeatedly. You need to keep EVERYTHING perishable down in the ice bath to keep it at food safe temps. Get creative to keep it dry. The basket seems like a good idea but it's not. At least not for perishables that can spoil. Having said that, I have prepared a LOT of perishable food in my life that wasn't strictly kept at 40º or lower...

@ earth all night - uhhmmmm, I know for a fact that Orca coolers are made in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. They are the only products made in that facility. I know this because I sell them parts for their machinery. The Orca’s also have a lifetime warranty. The Yeti’s are made in the Philippines and Engel’s in Thailand. And you are correct, they are overpriced trash. Please stop with the “fake news” and disinformation.

I bought a Gott 50 quart cooler in late 90s. I still have it and am using it today to keep food warm. It does that. You can get the same cooler for around $25.00. I don't use ice; I use bottles I freeze then use them. It works for days; it even keeps bags of ice, for drinks, frozen. Anybody buying a $200.00 cooler has too much money to spend. BYW if you do dump ice in keep in mind it's ice water that cools, not ice.

Guy who drills shit here: drilling metal correctly depends on a large number of things. Mostly the hardness of the bit and the piece, and what's called "speed and feed". In this case, stainless, is difficult to drill, but easy if you use a good hardened bit, that is the key. When you buy a bit in todays world, it will say on the package if it's good for metal or not. Get one that is made specifically for metal. They often are more than $10. Do not use grease like in this video. If you want to "lubricate", use a product called Tap Magic. Do your best to not let the drill bit get super hot, that is the other key thing. Just wait a bit between drilling to let the bit cool down. Push into it with moderate pressure. Go the full speed of the drill. Step up from small hole to larger hole, if you can, you don't need the step bit like in this video. If you have a number of garbage China type drill bits laying around you don't care about, you can burn through them gradually making your holes. Stainless will ruin them, but they will make progress within the first few seconds. Throw it out, Change the bit, and repeat. Sorry hope this makes sense, trying not to get too far into the technical weeds of it.

its ingenious but isn't it a pain to unscrew the whole thing in order to change the filters? I'm guessing you do need to occassionally and regularly change the filters

So , I followed some of your plans(from watching the video) and others for my build in my 2001 3rd gen, rather than building support for that last part to sleep on I used hinges so it folds twice so I can get 6’, while also being able to put seats back in if I ever wanted to use them. Were you suprised how expensive the drawer sliders were? I ended up getting the heavy duty ones, since I didn’t want them sagging but damn spendy🤑..I didn’t do the back hatch window switch but that’s next. Do you have website or email? Love to share what I did..love the channel👍🏻

Great ideas!! I was looking more for a diy water filtration system using cotton, charcoal, sand, etc for the filter part (cotton at the holes into catch/holding tank to keep out all sand and charcoal). Im not great at making videos but plan on making one of my trying it. Thanks for sharing this idea. Its great but one would need to keep buying the filters unless ones could be found tgat were rinseable or washable. Awesomeness. Onto designing and building mine.

IF it's important for an owner to use "the best" oil, I have watched video lab comparisons of all the popular brands, and Mobil 1 is typically in the middle. Amsoil always seems to prove the best, with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum also right up there. Also, Shell Rotella-T full synthetic, with great results at a low price. Do a little research instead of automatically assuming Mobil 1 is the best (because of their massive advertising budget).

I’ve watched a few other vids on this just for fun and none of them think to do that. They just bitch about how hard it is to get to that filter. 😂
