With only 7 days left until the US Government defaults on its debts for the first time in history - Now is the time to make some financial moves. 7 days sounds like a lot of time. However, House Speaker McCarthy has told member of the US House of Representatives to go home - Enjoy the Memorial Day holiday. Congress is not even in town! If he were to call them back for an emergency vote on the 2023 Debt Ceiling / Debt Limit legislation, assuming a deal can even be reached, it is going to take 1-2 days to get everyone back to Washington. And then, they have already informed the White House it will take them 1-2 days to craft the exact text of the legislation. Then after that, members of Congress are allowed 3 days to read and review the text of the legislation - Then, and only then, can there be a vote. If you do the math - It does not work. 7 Days is not enough time for all of this to happen. Even if it does, the bill coming out of the US House will then need to go to the US Senate for review and voting, which will take another 1-2 days. We are out of time. The US will absolutely default on its debt on June 1st based on the anticipated time frames we have been given. Might be time to stack gold and silver - Just saying!
