120' Cliff Camp & Stick Bread
In this one I get out for my first camp in 3 months. We had a baby girl (Freya Robyn Owen) and she was healthy and beautiful. But now I'm back out albeit sporadically.
I head to one of my most favorite camp locations nestled up on top of a120'+ cliff. I make stick bread for the first time ever and fly my drone. I also show some new kit.
welcome to the channel if you are new and thanks for returning if you're not.

Ingredients for the stick bread:
Campfire Bread on a Stick
This is such a fun and inexpensive activity to do while camping! The taste of fresh bread after a long day outdoors is incredibly rewarding. Everyone has to try this at least once!
Prep Time10minutes minutes
Cook Time20minutes minutes
Rest time1hour hour
Servings4 people
Ingredients
1 tsp instant dried yeast
1 tsp sugar
2½ cups all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil
200 ml warm water approx
toppings (garlic butter, cinnamon sugar, etc.) optional
Instructions
At home in a Ziploc bag combine the instant yeast, sugar, flour and salt. Put the olive oil into a small container.
At the campsite, heat up the water until it's warm but not hot (warm bath temperature). Add in the olive oil to the dry ingredients in the Ziploc and gradually add in the water into you get a doughy consistency (usually ~200ml). The dough will be sticky but not super wet.
Mix together the ingredients inside the Ziploc by closing the top and squishing the sides together. You don't need to knead the dough. Set the dough aside in a warm place to rise for about an hour.
While the dough is rising, find a couple large sticks with a diameter of approximately two inches. Whittle the ends of the stick with a Swiss Army Knife or carving knife to get a smooth surface for your dough. This is optional but I prefer this to get a nice clean stick.
Once the dough has risen, divide into four equal portions and roll each portion into a rope shape. Pinch one end of the rope onto the top of the stick and wrap the dough around to form a cone/swirl on the stick. Pinch the bottom to secure it onto the stick even more.
Hold or prop your stick up over the fire, choosing a spot with hot coals/embers to cook your dough evenly. Make sure to continuously rotate the bread so it doesn't burn.
You can tell your bread is done by pulling out a small bit to peak at the inside. It will still look quite doughy and will be a bit squishy if it's not fully cooked. Enjoy your bread as is or top with some fresh garlic butter, cinnamon sugar or whatever your heart desires!

A Lost Camp. Let's talk about mental health?!
Переглядів 16614 днів тому
Back on Fathers day of this year I filmed a camp. At the time I didn't think it was worth uploading as I was going through some mental issues in my life where I thought everything was crap. I have now re-edited the video into what I hope is a more entertaining version for you. Ultimately, without preaching too much I try to get the message across that it's not only OK to talk about mental healt...
Can I Really Camp In A £5 Shelter
Переглядів 4,6 тис.28 днів тому
Spoiler, yes I can. So I went out for another camp but this time I didn't take a tent, a tarp or a hammock. Instead I opted for a £2 emergency shelter (Essentially a foil blanket). Although it was summer time when I filmed this there was a lot of rain forecast for the night. Did it work out ok for me, did I get wet, was it big enough? Well find out the answers to all of these questions and more...

I made some spicey Nasi Goreng, had a few beers and a good chilled camp. Do us a solid and click that thumb. It really helps the channel out. The All New Fire Maple Vintage Copper Orange Gas Lantern

So I know I said that we had done our last video for the time being but shortly after that Fire Maple sent me out one of their new Vintage Copper Gas Lanterns (after I won it in one of their competitions). I mentioned to them that I could make a video of the product if they would like me to and they took me up on the offer. This is a brand new product that has only been on sale since last Frida...

So my wife and I are expecting our second child in the next few weeks. I can therefore no longer carry on with the channel, certainly not at the same pace its had over the last 4 years. It's with a heavy heart that I say this but ultimately I have to be a father and husband first. We may be back in the future in some sort of form but at this moment in time I have no idea when, if or how that wi...

Day 2, part 2: We scrambled off Glenridding Dodd and made our way over to another car park where we had arranged to meet Glenn (he left at 5:30am so he was as knackered as the rest of us). After some lunch and a pint we scrambled up to the top of Arnison Crag. At only 433 meters, it isn't exactly high, but the views were incredible regardless. I highly recommend this as a walk or a place to wil...

Myself and my mate Darren Jones took our annual trip up to the Lake District to see our buddy Alan AKA 54 Degrees North. We spent the weekend exploring the Ullswater region. Its a beautiful location and fairly popular with tourists. But we managed to find some sort of secluded camping locations. This is part 1, Glenridding Dodd. Gav and I went for an exploration to find new camp spots. We came along a fairly steep hill that we had to climb down. We were both wearing inappropriate footwear and that showed with Gav. I wasn't making a full video but felt like I needed to film this moment. I'm glad I did. Please like and subscribe for more.
A Forgotten Castle Bailed Camp With A Very Honest Message

Years ago whilst Googling, I discovered a forgotten castle in Wales (it's actually a manor house but it's called a castle) called East Orchard Castle. I have planned to go there a few times but for some reason or another I just never made it there, well that is until this day. I had a good explore of the beautiful ruins and surrounding location and was all ready to camp. But then I couldn't fin...

I was very kindly given the Hill Zero Matis 2 Ultralight tent from a good friend Mike AKA Novice Wild Camper. Unfortunately I then came down with pneumonia and couldn't get out for quite a while. I stared at it day in day out, it was taunting me... then one day I decided "screw pneumonia, I need a camp"... So I went. Looked a really good camp the bread turned out well I'm out tomorrow in a very heavy set up but it's new and cool great watch mate
Great to see you out again ger stunning spot well done with the bread
What a wonderful place to camp. Great times in the outdoor is the bedst times😊
Went to Boys Village in 2010 and had a good time exploring the place and taking photos. I knew it had happened, but shame to see it all gone. 🤔
F the 20mph sign! 😄
Great to see you back out mate. Lovely camp and a great location
Belting spot for a camp pal, sunset was epic! Strong work on the stick bread too, bravo! 💪
Just watched this , remember 3 years ago , my wimpy video . Mental health needs alot more support,as you said friends family ,a trouble shared is trouble halved. Mega hug 🤗 debs xx
7 weeks to see a doctor when I needed help. Noone gives a fcuk in this country
Always great to see you out on a camp Gez 🏕. Not so great to hear you were struggling, hope you are doing a bit better now. Mental health is a roller coaster, sometimes you just want to get off and have a rest, that's what being out in the outdoors does for me, no highs, no lows, but just being and sitting with your thoughts in nature, it helps tremendously. Sending love and strength mate. Look after yourself and the family. Pete and Shell 👊
Hello, could you tell me where I can listen to this tune in the video please
Her names Lisa O'Neil. The songs called All the Tired Horses. She's on Spotify etc. Thanks for watching 👍
Nice watch my friend. For me the bedst is time in the great outdoor. Sometimes with the wife or friends and Sometimes alone. Nature is so relaxing always 😊
Great watch mate it's ok not to be ok great to see you talking about mental and the tent looks good and simple food is the best I say

Nice one 👍
First time ive seen your video,😊,absolutely loved it, honestly, you did it , I've. Ot camped like that since my cadet days, or even TA, days ,anyway brought back good memories, and THANKYOU, ☺, looking forward to more, staysafe, takecare, 👍 👍
Interesting. I am 84 and been camping most of my life.A little tip. My mates and I used to make a lot of emergency bashas out of wagon tarps and sheets of Plastic. We used to wrap a small pebble or coin in the corners and tie it off with string . (pebble stops the string coming off and the plastic tearing). .With care you can do it on the sides giving you multiple tie-downs. One thing- NEVER have an open fire without clearing the woodland debris away from it. You are asking to burn the woodland down!
Good video. Enjoyed very much 👌
@JuliaWood-nm5uk Thank you Julia. I really appreciate the comment 👍
You absolutely can get a shelter for £5, frequent your local boot sales, Nordist halland 2pu £3, is my best one but honestly I buy them for pennies and sell them on epay to folks who like to stay in bed Sunday morning 6:15
We don't half miss your crazy camping antics Gez! 😊🙌. So do a lot of other peeps judging by the views on this video, nice!👌. We had a chuckle when you opened it up to discover it was a bivvy, classic boyz in the wood 😂🙈. Good job it was flimsy enough to tear open. Actually looked pretty cool when you got it set up, nice touch with the Hazel branches to open it up🤗. Ready for bed by 8:30pm, we know the feeling 😂😴. Hope you and the family are doing well, and the new edition is settling in. Sending love, and thanks for uploading this one early just for us! We watched on the telly at the weekend 😊👊👍 Shell and Pete
Hiya Gez. Well done mate. You did well with 💩 piece of foil as a tent. Nice bit of grub and bottle of wine. 13.40 light through the tress was stunning. Lovely little fire on your stove. Hope you get chance to squeeze a camp in soon. Really nice to see many people have watched your video.
Cheers, Jamie. It's such an easy thing to have a go at for a video and not to mention cheap to do. You should definitely have a go at one. Wow! I genuinely hadn't noticed how many people have watched it until you said 😮 Not sure what I've done differently to entice people in, but I'll take it 😂 Hope you're doing well buddy 👍
@@boyzinthewood1 You are on to something! I watch a lot of videos and people love things like this. If you buy a crappy £15 tent and put in the title will it work, tested temu tent things like that you will fly again butty boy. Your title worked try it similar again just in another cheap piece of crap. If you got bad weather people will be very interested did you get wet. It's like a movie for people. You can carry this to keep you dry and okay😁 For me I'm still new to camping and will camp anywhere with no fear as long as I can zip up my tent😁 My mind wouldn't shut down yet, it would think a fox or badger will eat my face😂 I'm new butty and just having fun doing what I want to do and seeing what I want to see. Hope the baby is good. You did reply to me somewhere about it but I lost it. I'm really bad with tech and miss things. You are on to something testing things out🫡😉👋
will keep it short, the answer is no
@TheRedleader01 So you didn't watch the video then?
Just found your channel and had to sub. Looking forward to watching more. Great T shirt by the way. 👍👍
@steveoutdoorsuk1788 cheers Steve. Welcome to the channel buddy. You've found us at the worst time tbh as my wife and I have just had a baby, so I'm not camping for a few months. However, I've got a couple of videos left to upload (fimed in the summertime). Hopefully, I'll be back out after Christmas. Appreciate the sub and the comment 👊👌👍
Note to self - steal some Brio style railway track from the grandkids...
@@mikepiper8799 😂 it works a treat 👍
Brilliant shelter, not the best material so you did awesome to make a shelter out of it. ATB Dan 👍 👍 👍 👍
@CampingDan85 you're right there Dan, terrible material to play around with. In all honesty, most people probably wouldn't do a plough point with one of these, but I wanted to see if it was possible. I must admit was quite happy with it. Cheers mate 👍
people think emergency shelter and expect them to be waterproof and resilient, they are meant to keep you alive until rescue arrives. but don't expect a great night's sleep
@JMD-er5jq Personally, I don't expect anything from a cheap shelter. I know exactly what they are made for. It was just a simple experiment to see what a night would be like in one should I ever have to. I've slept in every possible scenario outdoors. This isn't my first rodeo.
maybe do a couple where you have great shelter but rubbish everything else and one with great everything else but rubbish shelter, say which you would prefer wrote this before you pulled out the rest of your gear
