GZDoom - Testing maximum draw distance (on Frozen Time bridge scene)
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K (3.4 GHz) (4 cores)
Fog effects can hide distant geometry from popping in and out.
Scaled by 1/Sin(FOV) (for sniper scope zooming).
Still don't know what to do about the skybox.

This is really cool! I'm glad someone is finally taking a look at render distances. LzDoom had a similar feature but this was based on lines and not nodes. The skybox would still render correctly so long as gl_multithread was set to false.
Fallout 1&2 Doom would be great

Did it compile? Then zip this repo, rename it as a pk3, and run it as a mod. github.com/dileepvr/DRSGME btw the code recently got merged with the mainline dev build.

Let's hope this time it gets merged into GZDoom. Also, maybe add a flag for preventing sectors from rendering in isometric view? Since in the second example map the polyobject sector is visible, and I presume other types of control sectors are visible too.

No. The first track was a cover of an Andrew Sega soundtrack by a group called Music Interpretation Laboratory. The second was a Metal cover of Bobby Prince's actual doom soundtrack by Lashmush.

Seeing this makes me wish voxels were still rendered as particles like the now-discontinued ZDOOM. Next best thing would probably be low-fidelity 3D models, but I could see basic 3D visuals and the your isometric mod being used in projects emulating Tiberian Sun's visual artstyle
Keep working on this man, it already looks great. Hell, I mean it would be even more awesome if you could expand this outside of the reigns of just GZDoom. For a while I've been thirsting for an easy to use and straightforward game-engine specifically designed around easily making isometric games like Baldur's Gate, the first 2 Fallouts, or even Diablo 1 and 2, and there really aren't many options, and what there is usually isn't in any sort of active development and hasn't been worked on in years. Would be great to see your project move forward into being something like that.
This would make an amazing horror game with the fog of war. Especially with the doom sounds echoing if there are monsters nearby to add ambience.

Wow! Great work, really. But is the camera turning by buttons? In my opinion it would be cool if you can press RMB and turning camera with mouse instead, it would be more smooth. Also need camera distance scrolling. Good luck with this

I suggest not rotating camera. A fixed viewing angle is simply more beautiful. If you allow the camera to change viewing angle in Fallout 2, then it will do nothing to the game.
A fixed camera limits level design and creativity - which may or may not be desired. While _Diablo 3_ was able to take advantage of static camera rotation _Grim Dawn_ shows the power of rotation by hiding secrets behind things.
Nice! Someone should remake Diablo 1 with this and try to adapt its artwork with this camera rotation function in mind. Being able to see Diablo 1's levels in ways you never could because of its fixed camera position would be incredible!
