In this quick video I will be going over the reasons why I think the Kenetrek boot wax is a superior product compared to the Sno-Seal boot wax. The Sno-Seal is cheaper, but it stinks and the boots must be warm to apply the wax.
HUNT Premium DATES for BLACK BEAR Success!!!
Переглядів 63510 місяців тому
If you’re interested in hunting black bears without hounds and bait you need to do yourself a favor and hunt premium when you can. I view premium dates as times you can get in the woods with the least amount of competition and be able to use a rifle or muzzleloader. I personally enjoy hunting black bears in November when hounds are not chasing them. My second favorite time to hunt them is durin...

Out of a 7 mag they make softball size exits on whitetail 200 yards - out of a muzzy they barely open up past 60 yards 😮
Thanks for the tips!

Keep the Rail on it , it helps with looking down the Barrel as soon and you see your bead floating in air you shoot the rail is supposed to stay on with or with optic

Wow.. thank you so much for this video. My son and i are going on a bear hunt for the next 3 day in the nc mountains. Ill keep in mind all that you talked about.
Hey mate thank you for making this video, I'm an Australian heading to new Hampshire in 2025 to chase a black bear and I really appreciate the foundational knowledge you've put into this video because its so diffrent to everything I've experienced so far. Fortunately I'll be with a mate that lives there but I'd like to arrive with some idea. I can't find the book recommendations though?
So if you do a group application if one gets drawn do all get drawn ?
You got screwed. Mine works perfectly.
Got any tips for hunting the swamp? Great Dismal Swamp. Virginia side??
Thank you. I appreciate having someone for the state talk about this. I have always hunted over dogs but have moved to the mountains so I'm trying to adjust to the different style of hunting.
Excellent video.
20:21 We had a large mule deer, late night, to pull into our trailer to bring home. We have a 6ftx6.5 ft (2m x2m) moving blanket. It's a quilted tarp, reinforced with webbing. A cargo webbing net would work as well or better. Get the body on the blanket/net. Cinch up the bundle. Collect handholds. Team lift, or hoist, or drga up simple ramps. I love the idea of having like, quad ramps, or square fence posts to act as rails, and a smooth plywood sheet. Then with the blanket, and the smooth ramp, it should be very easy to pull the bear up. Final tip.
I've had outstanding success with the Hornady SST 250gr .50 cal. in a CVS Optima. DRT with 1 shot on all kills on deer. If any did run the blood trail would have been very easy to follow. I use 100 gr. vol. 777. I use the speed sabot with 2 777 pellets for a followup if needed. Your issues are not the bullet's fault. Go for the high shoulder shot but not too high. Just a little above dead center. Will break the shoulder and get the lungs too.
If bears had guns that would be a very interesting sport to see. Why go out in the world and kill an animal? Does it make you feel manly to kill an animal without any means of protecting itself ?
I'm from Pennsylvania and love black bear hunting! You have also provided great bear hunting tips on this channel that have benefited me in the woods. I'd love to try a Virginia black bear hunt! This breaks you suggestion on success rate.
Good.video.thank.you.
Cool video!
Thank you. Very helpful.
My ATI nomad single shot was stiff also. barrel release also real tight. had to make adjustments.
Do you have any further suggestions for scouting for bear? I just covered 20+ miles in west Virginia on WMA and state Forest checking ridge tops for sign and couldn't locate any. I've watched all your videos and they have helped me out alot.
Great video! Thank you!
Great video
Thanks, this information seems priceless. Got my first black bear hunt this weekend, wish me luck!
So you dont tie the stick in its mouth, the ropes from the feet hold the stick in them you tie another rope to pull with. Did I understand correctly?
After hunting bears for a few years I found this video, there isn’t a lot of talk out there about to hunt bears this way, especially in the eastern woodlands. I bought the book you recommended and I’m happy to say that this video and what I learned in the book helped me to take my first black bear! He weighed 460lbs, pretty good for GA! Thanks so much for your advice!
I have filled the freezer a few times with these bullets , I should experiment more with finding the sweet spot load in my rifles .
The pliers tip is a great trick, never thought of that
Had the same problem with a white tail shoulder shot the tip bent over no blood trail found the bullet under the hide
i was shooting the saboted bullets sence the early 80s . in.side hammers then in lines and still use them. I've mostly used 44 xtp 180 gr and serria 44 180 gr jhc bullets from 80 to 100gr pyrodex powder. killed many deer with this from closeup to80 yds in the woods. my average shooting 20- 35 yds. these bullets are extremely destructive and devastating on deer vitals. awesome expansion and weight retention. this season I'll have one in line with 180gr xtp for regular hunting areas and my outher in line with 240gr xtp for longer range power lines, fields, river bottoms. a few areas i hunt so thick you got to cut a way into to hunt ill keep my 50 side hammer with 385 gr buffalo bullet in it. thats if i fill like going hunting. im retired and disabled but not helpless, yet will have to find someone to help get the deer out if a big one. two years ago i killed a big 8 point and even with my deer cart i would a ways.stop an rest.repeating till i got to truck . i guess my hunting days about over and thats ok. I've had hunts that most hunters it would like me, take a lifetime to experience. no complaints, no tears, no regrets, it's ben a heck of a ride. papa from the foothills of the blue ridge mountains in NC wishing you well 😊
Can you name all the cleaning kits you used?
Thank you
Mine was toast 3 days into a trip ,corners broke 3rd day in and now there's no replacement parts to be found. Wish the frame was better made than it is , right now the way it is ,is cheap thin pipe
Pulled a Missouri black bear tag! Heading g out in two weeks solo bow hunting. Thanks for the advice. First timer here!
I had a bear track me down by my sent.. probably young and curious, but I have video to prove it.
Excellent video. One of the best hunting discussions i have ever heard. thank you
Never used Kenetrek... so don't know. But I have used Snow Seal a lot. I use an old Toothbrush to apply and wipe / work in the wax. Oils will protect the leather but not seal the stitch holes. That is why I like snow seal....it clogs the holes. That is where the leaks usually occur. I used to make custom boots. Everyone and factory that I know of uses glue to place the parts of the uppers, tongue and vamp into position... then the boot body is sewn . The glue will sometimes seal the holes for a while but eventually they will leak . So if you want your boots waterproof.. you need to plug the seam holes and treat the leather. I am of course talking about leather boots. I have used a lot of products and not found one I liked more than snow seal... but I would never bash any other product.. If you like it ,use it. Roughout leathers will soak up the treatment like a champ but it will alter the look... this might bother you. Thanks for your thought on the subject.
Excellent video. That's just like how I hunt bears here in NH. You and I would be able to hunt together like twins. Thanks for posting!
Always took out a bear tag here in Massachusetts, namely to help our state wildlife agencies from going bankrupt. Did see a bear once munching on crayfish in a small creek, but was out of season. Again here no dogs or bait can be used so this video is invaluable. Thank you.BTW our annual take is over 300 bruins.
I have a 12x12 kodiak, and that same stove. Unfortunately, I can't get it to burn consistent. It's either the temperature of hell, or off.
Very informational

I've learned more in this one video than I have in all the other videos combined. Thank you so much.
Thank you! I won the Maryland bear season tag after several years in the lottery. I am looking forward to the hunt!
I live in southeast ky in zone 2 and I'd like to take a bear during archery or rifle season. Currently deer hunting and I have a 350-400lb black bear eating my feed archery season is in October but you can't bait I'm wondering if it's a legal take if I travel the bears path up the mountain and post up in a tree stand far away from my feed? I'm pretty new to hunting in general but a black bear is definitely on my list!
