Building wetland filter #1 for my DIY swim Pond
Lovely!
WOW! Your pond came out great!! I'm hoping to start on a similar sized pond next spring. Unfortunately my yard slopes away from the house, so I'll probably have to bring dirt in to level it out, even with the spoils from the hole. What size liner did you use for the main pond? Were you able to get it locally or did you order online?
Thank you! I wanna say I went with a 50’x35’ liner. I shopped around online for the best deal, and I think I ended up going with Webbs water Gardens (online) for my liner and a bunch of other stuff.
@@TheStump29 Thanks for the reply. I've used Webb's many times for other projects. Their sales are usually pretty good.
Sick 🔥
Great stuff my man. Subbed.
Thanks man!
Who do you call to run power out for you? I am planning on a pond build in the next year or two.
Depends where you live. I just went with a highly rated electrician who felt comfortable doing a unique project like this.
Hell yeah, man! 👊
Great video! Thank you. What is your projected electricity cost since you are running two variable speed pumps? Can you share the pump models?
@@AntonSpektorov They’re DAB E.Swim 1.5 HP pumps. Hard to say how much I’m paying in electricity, but It hasn’t been enough for me to notice a large difference in my bill.
@@TheStump29 Thank you!
Hello, been watching all your videos and has been very helpful. How can i get in contact with you to ask you about the pumps and other things. I'm building a pond and been stuck with a few issues. thank you in advance.
@@gustavoterrero7890 thanks for watching! You can text me at 562-310-2929 and I can try to help out the best I can. Give this message a like once you see It so I can delete my number off here 😂
Nice job. You shouod be proud, that was a f#&@ ton of work.
@@chrishurlburt3702 thank you! It absolutely was 😂
Beautiful job! Curious about what happens if you get a lot of rain. Where does runoff go?
@@The59lincoln good question. I have an overflow pipe in my skimmer box
What about evaporation? Do you have to do any top ups?
@jameslauder3935 absolutely. Just like a pool
amazing

@@johnsmith91528 thank you!
Awesome build! Did you hire out any of the labor or do it all yourself?
@@DavisTyler000 thanks! Only thing I didn’t do myself was the electrical work. I did have some friends help a couple days with moving some of the bigger boulders.
Have you done this before? This is incredible quality for a DYI
@@HouseOnTheCorner_ just a much smaller pond I built a couple years ago that got me hooked on the pond lifestyle 😄 I appreciate the kind words.
I didn't know you made a whole series of videos ... ya loser. Can't wait to see it in person
Can you also make the build cost video for the whole project?
@@6HARIS yeah I’ve had a lot of people asking so I should try to break It down the best I can. I can say I’m probably around $30k in
Wow, I was waiting for this video. Greg the pond guy should come visit this. It turned out so beautiful.
@@6HARIS thanks man! That would be awesome
So awesome! You should do a rough breakdown of cost on video now that you got basically to the end. I am definitely going to be doing this on my farm, but currently only in the planning stages. Also if you have any planning suggestions making a video on things to consider would be great.
@@MidLaneBoss thanks! I know I ended up somewhere around $30k. I started making so many Home Depot trips that I stopped saving receipts after a while 😂 Let me know if there’s any questions you have that I could help you out with as you plan It.
OMG how beautiful. I wished i would have seen/watched this before i built my pond this year.
@@1972Celeste thanks so much!
I’ve seen a bunch of videos from professional pond builders that haven’t turned out this quality of a pond. Excellent job thanks for posting
@@rowdymoore007 thanks for the kind words!
Great work! I did not see how you created the wetland filters. Can you elaborate?
@@TheSgblue you can find the video on my channel, posted about 3 months ago.
Fantastic job! What an oasis 👍👍
@@Ozponds thanks Kev! Your videos helped me a ton through my journey.
Great! How many hours do you pump? and are you going to plant in to pool?
@@김상준-w1b I leave the pumps on 24/7. I’d like to add a few more marginal plants in the main pond, but in the spring I plan on adding a lot more plants to my wetland filters.
If you could redo and improve one thing now that it’s done, what would it be?
That’s a great question. If I had access to an excavator for longer I would’ve loved to use more large boulders. Realistically, without spending a ton more money I would’ve just made It a little bit bigger to increase the amount of swimming space.
Looks great brother, great job. I’m planning to do something very similar to this.
Thanks so much man! It’ll be a ton of work but so worth It!
I've been waiting a long time for the new video. I can't wait to see the new pump in action.
How much cost you so far??
@@gianfrancocattina1014 somewhere around $30k
Crystal clear
That’s stunning

New subscriber 👋❤️🤗 Great video. 👍
Your project looks great! Jealous of the access to the limestone you have!
@@hammocktimenapper thank you! I was super fortunate to find all that limestone for free, especially so close to me.
Great job, I just started digging my pond/natural pool. Can you describe how you clean out the bog filter?
@@MegaGoldring I haven’t had to clean It yet, but what I’ll do is turn off the pump; rinse all the gravel down which will push the sediment into the clean out barrel; then pump out that dirty water with a sump pump
Thank you

What filtration do you have planned?
@@cliveraymond1712 check out my recent videos on my “wetland filter”.
Fantastic video, I plan to follow your example. Just curious, do you feel the bog filter and stream cause more water loss through evaporation? I'm thinking about keeping the total exposed water surface relatively low, which would mean a deeper bog and perhaps a closed pipe leading to the pond waterfall. Already I need to top off my pond about once/week, so I'm concerned that adding a bog filter will increase the evaporation.
@@icodeandmakevideos567 yeah I’m sure they do especially in the hot summer months. For me, I think the beauty It adds is worth topping the pond off a little more often, but I could see why someone would want to limit evaporation the best they could.
Looks awesome!!!
@@KC-fl9xs thank you!
Best waterfall install video i have watched.....and i have watched ALOT!!! Getting ready to install a waterfall myself. Thanks for a great detailed and well explained video, you made it very understandable and visual.
@@1972Celeste thanks so much! I’m really trying to help out other DIYers like myself so more people can enjoy a water feature in their own yards. I’m about to start my second filter and waterfall which I’ll hopefully have a video of in the next couple weeks.
Looks beautiful! ❤ Can you explain where you have the pumps, lights, jets plugged in at?
What size is your Wetland and what pump do you use? Looks amazing!
@@Gaahlinator it’s about 11’x9’. The pump is a DAB E-Swim 150 variable speed. Flows up to around 8,000 GPH
