S-300 practically stopped Russian air force at the front and took Russia tremendous effort to destroy. In comparison, Patriots gets wacked every now and then and tho VKS fighters/bombers still don't have free reign, but they are moving much audaciously than before. Given that most Nukes are carried by ICBMs which are hypersonic upon reentry, there's almost 0 chance that a huge nuke attack will be intercepted at all.

I don't know where you got your information about 90% of the nukes will be shot down. Once ICBMs are terminal they begin to split into there designed payloads, some of which will be decoys. However, shooting down an ICBM in its terminal phase is improbable, nearly impossible. The window to shoot them down is incredibly narrow, ICBM's come from a ridiculous altitude, traveling at nearly mach 10-15. And shooting down an ICBM lifting off from either in-land China or Russia is improbable due to the fact we have no air defenses in the location. Our air defenses are not as capable as you might think. Intercepting rockets from Gaza is one thing, or a missile fired from several hundred miles out. However, an ICBM that has already dropped boosters and coming from space will most likely reach it's target. Once they are launched, there is no stopping them.

If nuclear war breaks out between Russia and the US, I'm quite sure China would be included on both countries' target lists.

i concur with you point that russia's corruption severely inhibits their defense capabilities as seen by their performance in Ukraine but the general intelligence consensus is that Putin's interest in his strategic forces over the last 15 years and prioritizing them so he knows, that we know that he has true capability there, counters you're assumption, especially the high percentage of their strategic forces that would fail if ordered to deploy. Additionally, your faith in US anti-ballistic missile system capabilities is accurate on the technological side but the error above mitigates their effectiveness. it's not even classified that the US AMB capabilities would be saturated in the case of full scale nuclear war with Russia. In fact we purposely keep our capability capped to counter BM threats of rouge and non-state actors. Disrupting the balance of mutually assured destruction would be detrimental to maintaining peace. If we even build towards that capability it would force Putin to act before we could counter his capabilities else we could conduct a first strike they could not counter once US capabilities risk their ability to counterstrike.
