Good lyrics and voice. Well sung. That being said, very few people outside of Atlantic Canada are aware of the politics that our governments used the with other regions in the world that traded our fish stocks off for industrial trade deals in Central Canada and the prairies.

nice and very fine versuion but NOT Irish.by underrated brilliant songwriter .Billl Cadick, English, pure simple and through and through and as comment below tune 'pinched' by bill from tchaikowsky (and ALWAYS acknolwdged by Bill as such) without Bill not THEN knowing that Mr T had in turn pinched an itlaian folk song..credit where credit due have heard read so MANY silly pointless claims of Irish Origin for other people's songs..even Burns was apparently Irsh.................

While listening to this great song, one is reminded of the struggle that liberated 5/6 of the Irish nation from 7 centuries of English rule.

I am a proud Newfoundlander and I live in Ottawa for the last 30 years but this song by Darcy nearly brings me to tears
