    Awesome. I love seeing the internals on the 4b11. How did you get the engine out? Did you go through the top or did you drop the sub-frame? I'm replacing the engine on my 09' Lancer this summer. Debating what's the easiest way to get the engine out.

Sometimes we're so in a rush to get our cars back on the road. It was never in my plans to build my evo x engine and i that it was too expensive that it could never happen but with time, savings and research it's possible. I know youre gonna be back stronger.

    well somebody doesn't have a clue to what an s10 weighs. for starters your truck weighs in at 3050 lbs with the 2.5 cylinder motor. that is fully dressed from factory. with a ls v8 cast block you add a little more than 100lbs more to the weight.for the total of 3150lbs give or takea few lbs and about another 45lbs for the trans so you have a 3200+ lbs sled good for a whip around town but not good for any race unless you are racing your friends from red light to red light in traffic. i have an 87 s10 that has all stock suspention but gutted that is 2740lbs with me in it. but nice truck she is awsome.

    • @Barberisdaman24
      @Barberisdaman24 Рік тому

      I don’t know about the part it’s not a race truck I have seen s10 v8s drag the hell cats and new mustangs like clock work. They are light and where never made to have v8s in them. The right set up and suspension in it it will beat a lot of cars. Not to mention the S10s are going up in value and are getting harder and harder to find.

    • @ajmccreary167

If y’all want I can get him on another video to just briefly explain a little more. He took it to the drag strip a few time but I can’t remember what his passes were

    This is a very common problem in this generation Prizm and the Corollas which use the same engine. Apparently there is a tiny hole in the piston or something in the engine that gets clogged up and when it does, it starts to burn oil. It's kinda inevitable, and you can't really prevent it I don't think. You don't really even have to replace anything. You just have to take the engine apart and drill back through the hole. That's kinda much for such an old car, and for most people who don't know how to take engines apart. People have tried putting in some really nasty cleaners in there, but it doesn't help. I've found that if you switch to Shell Rotella T4 15-W40 that the oil burns half as much as supertech 5w-30. It's diesel oil so it's much more durable than regular oil and it's pretty cheap like $14-15 for 4 quarts. Been running it for over 2 years now with no issues. The car has been burning oil since we got it around 130K miles. Can't complain though. It was a really cheap car with a rock solid engine and transmission. Just have to put oil in every 3-4 weeks. I actually overfill it now knowing that it's gonna burn. I overfill it by 2+ quarts and haven't had issues yet. It burns oil faster if you go on highways. The more you do that, the more oil you will burn. Note that the constant opening of the hood probably will break the hood popper, but I've figured out that all you have to do is stick a shirt or an empty water bottle in there to keep the popper in the pop position, then you can open the hood. If you make sure the oil is topped off, the car will last you a long time. My Dad had a 98 Prizm from the same generation and he drove it til like 210-220K before he totaled it.

    • @aznnp77
      @aznnp77 2 роки тому

      Another note to those that are fortunate to have this car. I say fortunate because it probably cost you almost nothing, but it's a solid car that can get you to and from work. When you're filling, use a funnel. Cuz if you splash oil it'll drop down to your fuel injectors and they'll start to leak and give you check engine lights. You don't really need to replace the injectors, just the O-Rings. But the ones at the store either don't fit or are the wrong size. So you end up buying the whole injector anyways, which is like 40 bucks. The ebay seller I get them from is nice enough to send me extras cuz it happened to me twice.

    • @aznnp77
      @aznnp77 2 роки тому

      Another note. With all that burning oil, your catalytic converter may go bad and cause you to fail emissions. If you get a P0420 cat code, buy one of those O2 sensor spacers for like $5 on ebay. It works great. Takes the code away and it doesn't come back.

    Dont have a stand alone. Got a evo x. Best advice is to build the block. The evo x rods are the weak point of the motor. Same thing happened to mine. Planning on building. If you need a new block or one built already just for purchase at a ok price. Look at exigent solution.

They rebuilt with it forged internals. i finally got it back after 8 months and I drive it 2 days and truck goes into limp mode anytime I go to quarter throttle. So know your pain.

    Bro as soon as you lifted the backseat, I sighed with relief! Last time I had to do a pump it was on a 97 blazer and that b**** needed us to drop the tank and her bolts were rusted to hell. Needed a entire gallon of penetrating fluid and near broke a breaker bar 💀

      @Chris Mayo his is one of the better videos out on UA-cam. I've been able to trust his work. I did everything he did exactly and I couldn't believe it!! I actually fix it... good luck to you. I found my parts at a junkyard for much cheaper also remember the Toyota ( early 90s) has the exact same parts if that helps.. the people at a GOOD junkyard will help you with that...

    470whp seems like a reach. L76 is a rec port motor so 470 at the crank with the right Cam and some exhaust work is more than feasible.

      He didnt even say what he's got in the engine. He only mentioned the cam. I highly doubt he has the time to sit down and draw out blueprints just for you, to prove he's telling the truth. Looks like he stays busy out in his shop building badass rides! I imagine its had head work and all that done. 470 RWH is not that much of a "reach" for that engine. I'm sure you know that though. You just wanted to spread a little negativity.
