Elyse’s Indoor Skydiving Adventure- Indoor Skydive Roosendaal
Elyse and I have been away for the summer in the US, and so Michael wanted to surprise Elyse when we got back and take her indoor skydiving! Elyse was so excited to fly! We went to Indoor skydiving Roosendaal. Her instructor Luna was amazing, and explained the instructions clearly in Dutch and English to us. We were all very happy with our experience there, and highly recommend it! Elyse said afterwards that she wants her birthday party there, and wants to continue taking instructional lessons! 👍👍🫶

It was a beautiful weekend day on the last day of summer before school started back for Elyse. So we took our new family bike for a ride through the Kinderdijk area of the Netherlands! Join us as we discover this “cozy” and “gezellig” area! *Note: I had injured my back prior to this video, so sitting on the back of a bike all day didn’t help it much, but we still had a great time. I have been working at Erasmus Kinderziekenhuis for 2 months now, and the time has come for me to have my intensive week learning the Dutch language. I currently work as a Verzorgende (Nurse Assistant) as I obtain a high enough level of Dutch to obtain my BIG Verpleegkundige registration here in the Netherlands. This is part 1. I plan to post part 2 at the end of the week with clips of my progr...

10+ for the jump in the water haha after a year finaly someone saw you talent ;p
Net als alle anderen vroeg ik me af hoe het met je/jullie gaat. Fijn te zien dat jullie er nog zijn. Ben je van plan nog video's te maken om ons te laten weten hoe het gaat?
Glad to see you're still with us, here on youtube. Hope you're adapting well to life in our country.
Nice experience for your daughter 👍😊 Glad to see that you all are still daring to go Dutch 😉
Glad to see you folks back. Got a bit worried.
Hallo, long time no see, leuk jullie weer te zien.
Welcome back. great to see you guys again, i was kind a worried. Is Elyse speaking a bit dutch now ? or still learning. great video again. really good to see you back. 👋👍👍
Welkom terug 🎉 Coffee fixed and time to watch
Bedankt voor het kijken!😊
Thank you for fixing the audio. She is adorable. How is your Dutch language study going?

Echt goed gesproken Nederlands!! Respect
A few months have passed an I'm curious how you are doing. Do you have a car now? (with a parking spot) I look forward to an update. I'm sure many others do as well. Wishing you all the best ;-]
Hi! My husband had a work vehicle and we had a spot but now we are searching for another because the lady we were renting it from sold the apartment that goes with it😭. I will post an update video soon!
Hoe gaat het met jullie?
Ik zal een nieuw filmpje maken in de volgende week ☺️
Great update, such a wonderful adventure for you and your family. The time off here, and in most of Europe is mandatory, they see it as part of the health care requirement, they also find workers are more productive when they get more time off. Yes, we had the same difficulty with our marriage certificate, my husband said it would have been easier if we were just registered partners. When we moved here (The Netherlands) 7+ years ago, I decided to retire as a nurse, because of my age, I was soon to be 60, it just seemed too much to go through for such a short time. We were fortunate enough my husband's employer organized a lot of the INS paperwork for us, so we didn't have the same stress you have had. We are in Amsterdam, and love it here.
I "studied" Spanish there for 6 months, but that was 44 years ago. I lived at a 30 minute drive from Vught and went twice a week. Useful? No. First they asked me where I was going and I told them Mexico. Apparently that kind of Spanish was not on their menu. The first day in Mexico I had breakfast and ordered "zumo de naranja". The head waiter had to come over and explained that I wanted "jugo de naranja". Total failure. So I got myself a Mexican girlfriend (later my wife) and learned Mexican Spanish in 3 months. I've been living in Mexico for 43 years now.
I love to see the video of this so nice lady, I would like to try to go to Regina Coeli school and if I go I must to thank this lady. Grazie
Wowwww, je bent echt veel verder gekomen!!!
Nobody mentioning the badass jump? He aced it! 😎
And very nice and beautiful video 👍
You make progress... nice to hear...
Ok, de nonnen van Vught! Famous institute indeed!
Right, the housing market in NL is slowly cooling but it's a crazy shitpit!
You guys have a lot of Dutch practice to do! LOL!!!
I like that little cutie with her fietsenrek at front! LOL!!!! I suggest you go to a decent dentist to get that fietsenrek fixed!
She is only 6.5, and her 2 front baby teeth just fell out. She will get her adult teeth soon. I don't think she will have a fietsenrek when they grown back in.
@@daring2godutch673 but for now she definitely has a fietsenrek! LOL!!!

This was simply lovely to watch!
There is a bicylcle path that runs between the two rows of windmills at Kinderdijk, but I seems to me you've attempted to approach the windmills at the wrong spot. I think you've entered the side road called 'Overwaard', where you should have entered the side road called 'Nederwaard', which is just one intersection before/to the west of where you've attempted.
I think we will try to do this again without so many detours. Lol. The whole day was pretty much a big detour, but we had a nice time!☺️
@@daring2godutch673 What map app did you use? I prefer OpenStreetMap, it has a way more complete and much clearer indication of foot and bicycle paths than (car centric) Google Maps.
Super lovely video. Thanks!
Hi guys, such a beautiful video!😊
Would you recommend Living in Linden and commute to work in Rotterdam ?
That seems very far away, so I wouldn’t recommend it.
Looks like you had a lot of fun on the bike! You certainly picked a day with nice weather as well. Thank you for taking us along for the day! Your knowledge of the Dutch language is definitely expanding. I understand the difficulty with so many similar sounding vowels. Just give it time and keep practicing. Confidence will come.
You look fragile, so I'm sending virtual hugs. Yes,. the language is hard, but the culture is a threshold too. It will come, in time. If you had moved within the US from one state to another there would be a learning process too. Getting to know the local memes (like the song Flappy), get a feel for what motivates people and what they deem normal, it is always hard. I think eventually you will be really happy here, but adjusting is a hard process, always. I *am* glad you miss nursing when you see people doing what you want to do. That feeling is universal and will help you a lot getting through the rough parts of moving and adjusting. And your daughter will help too. The Netherlands is very much aimed at family, and I'm convinced she will grow and that will help you adjust too.
Mnemonics: Neigh-Bor -->nearby-buur Plural: buren (buurmannen/vrouwen). Your buren together are your-->buurt (quarter) (Aan)kopen= to buy Verkopen=to sell Sell-sold-sold Verkopen-verkocht-verkocht Te koop: To buy Verkocht: has been sold Your doing great!!
Really a fantastic video. Bit long though. But the scenery so close to a metropolitan like Rotterdam speaks so much more than words. It reflects everything The Netherlands is really about and not vloggers that make videos of what is already in the brochure of the Dutch Tourist agency, completed with hagelslag, stroopwafels and haring. I wish more expats would put videos like this online. And as a very important tip: kids in The Netherlands all learn to swim at a young age with so much water around. It is absolutely necessary that you do the same as fast as you can. Kids will love swimming lessons anyway. She might have learned to swim already but lessons here are somewhat different and certified as well. In the Netherlands, there is always water somewhere close and you cannot keep an eye on your child 24/7. It is a very important skill and a tremendous (p)ease of mind. And your question about the mosquitos... We do not use aerosol for that. It is just a fact of life. Hard to avoid it on a bike on a windy day anyway. Just don't cycle with your mouth open🤪. Mosquitos (=muggen) are seasonal anyways. At home you can use a cream (non Deet) or a repellent on citrus basis. Just be careful with the 'Aedes albopictus" mosquitoes, known as "Tijgermug". They have a white striped body and can cause dengue (known as "knokkelkoorts" in The Netherlands) and seem to appear more and more these days although they are not local, inherent to The Netherlands and still pretty rare. Most are not infected with the dengue bacteria anyway so no need to panic. A lot of Dutch put a "Citroen plant" in the window or close by. I think it is officially called "Pelargonium graveolens" and can be bought in most flower and garden shops. It deters the mosquito from smelling the human body odor.
En een oude Zündapp op het pont (the one that is towing later). Memories....
