For anyone whos cruise control is on the steering wheel took me a minute to figure out , u can raise the rpm with cruise control by pressing the on off switch for cruise control and the set button and holding for a few seconds may have to do it a couple times to get to 700

This does not work if your truck is programmed to idle no more than xxx number of minutes without going into drive/reverse brake released, or fuel pedal depressed. Thats called a hard idle timer. Ive seen a guy who made a brace that presses against the plastic around the pedal and the seat. He had a cam that rotated on a timer and ever 6 min or so it would press in the fuel pedal and override the idle shut down
Anybody doing this idle method will burn more fuel per hour. If your on level ground just set the trailer brakes and release the the park brake and enjoy your rest on low idle.
Any idea on how to override idle in 2021 kenworth without that cruise control switches. The one I’m driving don’t have cruise control switches on the dash. These are on steering wheel and DO NOT set while parked. Longest setting is 30 minutes,but never stays on that long,longest is 6-8 minutes
So if you hate the truck shaking you in the middle of night as your auto start stop feature is on. Listen here you can set your truck to 60 is my lowest and then make sure that the truck never reaches 60 and it will run all night. You do this by turning the AC in the front on low and then in the back shut a vent if needed until you have a good comfy temp
Secret tip: if all else fails, you can turn on your engine and then pull your ignition fuse. Just make sure to put that fuse back in and then restart engine before moving the truck at all. 👍
@@philipbond4088 I meant, "where in the fuse box is the ignition fuse located?" Doesn't matter. I eventually located it and the hack doesn't work. Manufacturer's must read these posts and routinely update their software.
For anyone wondering why it does not work in their truck, it is based on how the truck is programmed some have no limit while others have a hard limit that can not be exceeded. It depends on how the company has had the truck programmed.
We have a 2022 Kenworth t680 and the mechanics kept telling us to keep it above 1500! Damn truck was so loud. Thank you for this video. Finally a truck that’s quiet when idol. 🙌🏼
That is ridiculous, those are crappy mechanics. 900should be max 600 minimum. 1500 is higher than running in top gear down the highway. Low idle(500-600) is not good but 1500 is WAAAAYYY too high. If those are company mechanics, you should let the company know that they want you to waste fuel.
I noticed that when my ABS, TC (and some other icon) sensors all appear at once on the dash, I can circumvent the idle shutdown. Those sensors just randomly pop up when I start the engine sometimes, and then go away the next time I start the engine. If someone knows how to trip those sensors intentionally, that would be the hack.

If you have a trailer attached you can pull your trailer brakes and push in your parking brakes it'll work that way also

You should call your company and tell them you need to go to a terminal to get that setting changed, and that it won't idle below 91°.

They've got a block for that, too. Lasts longer than five minutes, but definitely does an idle shutdown after 10-15, still.

If you own it just save the hassle and go to a mom n pop shop and have them hook up the laptop and turn the feature off.
My 2019 didn’t work. 5 min no matter what and it shuts down. Unless you are going more than 3mph.
Honestly don't know about the 2019's. You might have to do something a little different, or it may not work at all on that year rig, idk...

depending on who you drive for that does not work. some company truck will not idle unless you push down on the gas pedal every few minutes
