Y'all. Moving isn't abandonment. Abandonment is super hard to get. The other parent has ample opportunities to respond to the abandonment request. Stop speaking if you don't know the reality of the law. She needs to talk to a lawyer. My kids Dad already only has supervised visitation, moved out of state without telling the kids, and I still can't file abandonment of Rights. I mean I can, anybody can file anything but he gets a chance to respond. In order to get somebody's rights terminated the other parent has to not have any communication communication or have responded to anything regarding the case.

This was such a wild ride. I went thru almost as many emotions as she did lol But for clarity *GUYS*; Noting her terminology she likely hasn't *lost* custody YET, but is in custody court. She noted that her (ex) husbands parenting plan proposed she lose custody & get supervised visits, not that the court ruled that. She also said he filed once he knew her address, and not only is filing a preliminary step, this info would've been revealed via the court proceedings anyway [unless there's a safety issue]. He wouldn't just be finding this out, if he'd already been awarded custody. It also sounds like she left pretty recently, and family court cases (esp when they involve divorce, multiple kids, and potentially multiple jurisdictions) can take years to resolve. Both, or one parent, a guardian, or relative usually gets temporary custody while the case is in court proceedings. So she may have (or may be) alluding to the ex/husband having temp custody, buuuuut that shouldn't rly be a surprise when she literally left lol 🙃 I think the whole aspect of supervised visits is probably what upset her the most. I'm not gonna make any judgements, bc I don't know their situation (idk if he was abusive, unfaithful or rly just a victim in all this) 🤷🏽‍♀️
