How to replace the power ribbon cable in a JBL Flip 4 speaker
If your JBL Flip 4 isn't working, it might be due to a broken power ribbon cable. Here's an easy fix that can save your speaker from the landfill (or recycling center)!

I want JBL flip4 strap
It's a 13-pin cable; I got mine here: a.co/d/cZWh4IJ Hope that helps!
Sigh I was swapping out a very very swollen battery and I guess I clipped my cable just like you did. Why did they have to tape it so that it was invisible?? So difficult to work on our own stuff...
Right!? :( I think it was covered in foam for "rattle-proofing" reasons, but it did make it impossible to see.
Ese flexible sirve para el flip3 ?
Parece que ambos usan un cable de 13 pines, así que ¿tal vez? Encontré esto: www.ebay.com/itm/276046225138?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28
Thanks a lot for the fast response. ❤
Great! Where from can one buy this ribbon cable?
I got mine at Amazon here: a.co/d/cZWh4IJ Good luck repairing your Flip 4! :)
@@jesseesmith4463 Many thanks for the fast response.❤
Jessee, I have just cut this cable trying to remove from the back the battery in my jbl flip 4. That's the second time I am changing the battery in this flip 4. The reason not buying 5 or 6 is that is missing the microphone on them and I can't use these newer speakers for calls. The first time I have removed pulling it but this time I remove it push it from back so I have cut the ribbon cable. The problem is that I can't find any new cable online to order it Can you confirm please is a cable with 13 pins? If you remember.. Thanks,Florin
Hi Florin! Apologies for the slow reply; I was traveling for the cicada emergence :) It is a 13-pin cable; I got mine here, and it looks like they're still in stock: a.co/d/cZWh4IJ Good luck with your repair!
@@jesseesmith4463 Thank you for your reply. I finally succeed to replace the cable. Let me tell you how 😂 I had a not working Acer laptop and I found a 20 pin cable inside and I cut it all along to 13 and fit it, can you believe the speaker is working veeery well 😄 It was a difficult job because the pins are something like nano pins 😂 but I did it. The speaker after the first and one only charge from Sunday its still playing today after 5 days, has play like 3h/day roughly on half volume. I like Flip 4 because I use it for calls but 5 and 6 doesn't has a microphone fitted. did you get any cicada ? 😂
@@florinstoica5357 That's impressive! It must have been a delicate operation to alter the cable. We collected lots of cicada sound recordings and photos - good times! :D

Thanks for your video bro .
Glad it was helpful! (I'm a "sis," btw 🙂)
Hello friend, a question. which ribbon flex cable is needed to replace the one on the volume and play control board?
If you scrape off the insulating foam (if there is foam on your cable), the cable type should be printed on the existing cable in several places. (Sorry, I can't disassemble my own speaker to find out because some of the screws are stripped :(
Ribbon cable kahan se laen
Thanks. I had cut through a foam strip to remove the old battery easier. Only after rewatching a repair video did I notice a bare cable, which did not seem to be present in my speaker, and I realised what I had done. That foam housed this very cable. I'm a little annoyed at myself, and the fact I have buy another component, but this video is a life saver. Thank you so much.
That's pretty much what I did! I didn't see the cable because of the black foam insulation and accidentally broke it. (I am not actually any kind of tech wizard - just somebody who doesn't like to throw out stuff that can be fixed!) I'm so glad you found the video useful :)
Yo where can i get the ribbon of the jbl 1000.please the link
Sorry for the delayed response - I was out of the country for a bit! I got mine on Amazon: www.amazon.com/uxcell-Flexible-Ribbon-Player-Laptop/dp/B07S1C1PYD
@@jesseesmith4463 I have a flip 3 with the same problem. But my cable (20624 80c vw-1) is much skinnier. I want to make sure I get the right replacement. I also have to replace the other ribbon (20798 80c 60v vw-1) Where can I get these?
@@sandylevine5579 I got mine on Amazon - there's this ( a.co/d/h809AK9 ) ...the only downside is that you have to buy a multipack, but it's still cheaper than getting a new speaker.
Thankk youu soo muchh i couldn't find any similar video explaining
I'm so glad it helped! :)
the clip of that white piece (black clip that hold the ribbon) is lost in my speaker what can I do
That's a bummer...you could try replacing the whole connector (I Googled "flat ribbon cable connector" and many are available), but that might require soldering skills. Alternatively, if the cable has good contact and is working, you could just try securing it in place by some other means, maybe with tape or a small clamp?
Thank you so much for this video, had the same issue.
I'm glad it helped, Lukas! :)
