I'd just like 2nd what Steve said about Ryan and Tina of Freakshow Exotics, they are awesome people!!! Met them at the first Show Me show we went to in Springfield, they went above and beyond any expectations and showed a real interest in making sure my youngest daughter had a great time at the show. A little tip for other vendors, their genuine kindness turned into a sale and our 1st ball python!! Proud to still call them friends!!

Hi guys, twice we have noticed statements about "bright lights stressing out snakes" which is not accurate at all. Nearly all snakes experience a day/night cycle and many snakes, if not most, including Ball pythons are found in the wild out basking, and this is from a species that is quite shy and known to prefer dawn and dusk hours for their basking times. The USA pet industry recommends a day/night cycle as well as UVB for all reptiles and amphibians so can you please update your care advice, especially as your videos are directed at many first time pet keepers. 🙂

Incandescent/halogen basking bulbs are the best way to deliver beneficial IR-A and IR-B that closely mimics sunlight, deep heat projectors also provide it but at a sub par level. Snakes and other species that light "stresses out" have been found to cryptic bask to obtain the IR and UV they need. Radiant heat panels much like CHE only produce IR-C which is not found in sunlight but does radiate from objects like rocks that have been warmed by the sun making it a great option for nighttime heat if needed. Mercury Vapor Bulbs are best not to be used by amateurs as they a)cannot be dimmed and b) have spikes and short wavelengths of uv which can harm your reptile so use of a Solarmeter 6.5 is highly recommended, they also give a blue green glow so you would want bright legs to combat this. The UVB generally degrades quiet quickly but the UVA will remain quiet high afterwards which is beneficial.
