This is a channel dedicated to the love of the cassette tape, in all shapes and forms.
018: Fuji DR-I Comparison!
Fuji made camera film, video tapes, and audio cassettes in the 1980-90's. The DR-I's were some solid recording Type-I's available in 1991 and 1996. We'll take a look at a few here.

017: Sony UX-Pro Comparison!
Переглядів 2,9 тис.3 роки тому
Sony UX-Pros are high-quality Type II cassettes. These were made in the mid-1980's and probably early 90's. In this video, we compare two cassettes from two generations. As always, thanks to the wonderful vintagecassettes.com for historical info.
016: BASF Ferro Extra 60 (1991)
Переглядів 8594 роки тому
This fairly cheap BASF would have been a great, cheap tape for recording voice or lo-fi music back in the day. Music: "Beyond Memory" by NINA - bit.ly/3ljKnSM As always, thank you to the wonderful vintagecassettes.com
015: JVC GI (1990)
Переглядів 1,2 тис.6 років тому
Did you know JVC made audio cassettes and not just video ones? Me neither.
014: Sony HF-S (1986)
Переглядів 4,4 тис.6 років тому
Unboxing a vintage Sony HF-S blank tape from 1986. These are my faves of all the blank tapes I own.
013: Sony Blank Cassette Collection from 1986-87
Переглядів 9 тис.6 років тому
This is a near-complete US set of sealed Sony blank cassettes from 1986-87. All I'm missing is the Metal Master!
012: Sony Metal-ES (1986)
Переглядів 2,5 тис.6 років тому
One of my Grails of blank cassette tapes. Couldn't wait to share this. The Metal series (along with the Metals Masters) would have been expensive then, and they are astronomical now. The highest-tier tape, you couldn't get a better recording than on this.
010: TDK SA90 (1993)
Переглядів 4,8 тис.6 років тому
Decent Type-II tape from the early 90's - CDs were starting to take hold, and TDK's packaging reflects that these (Type-II's) were good for recording from CDs.
009: Memorex HBS II 110 (1993)
Переглядів 1,1 тис.6 років тому
A higher-end Type II Memorex, this HBS would have been a great cheap tape to record some music on to and would have sounded pretty great on chrome.
008: Sony CD-It (1998)
Переглядів 1,9 тис.6 років тому
One of my favorites from my childhood, the Sony CD-It series was an attempt to get people to still record their own mixtapes, or convert CD's to tapes in the 1990's. This one features a cool red shell and slide case.
007: Memorex dB (1985)
Переглядів 2,3 тис.6 років тому
This low-end Memorex dB probably found itself into many answering machines back in the day.

Fuji revolutionized the storage of cassettes by REVERSING the casette in the case to make it slimmer. This would allow more to fit in any storage case. NOT ONE OTHER manufacturer followed this design. Granted.. that means all your prerecorded cassettes would not fit in cases designed for slim casettes and vice versa so you'd need two different cases/holders etc. So I'm assuming that's why no one else followed suit. It's a shame because i thought this design was BRILLIANT.
Nice I had one of these but I’m looking for 2003 2005 which is the last of the line cassette.
Wow a tape from superb and is better than hf series In my opinion obviusly i prefer hf super (hf s) series than hf series and besides because i like its green letter.... Red letter instead. Great video
I feel lucky to have grown up with these in the 90's. Much better than the old DBS.
1992-1994 US market
Кассеты супер! Я тоже собираю sony , но 1988 год
Ракорд не показал. Дэбил.

Wonderful 👍 I recording this model with a Sony tc-u2 👍😀
Love "Running in The Night".
Anywhere I can buy this
The UX-ES and UX-Pro have the same tape inside.
The later version had no ceramic guide anymore. It was made of plastic.
dude that is soooo awesome!! where did you get that?
Pretty sure they were selling it off of there Bandcamp for a while and I was able to pick one up. Cheers and thanks for watching!
I WISH COULD HAVE ALL OF THESE IN THE LATE 80'S!!! BUT JUST HAD HF90...
oh! sooo nice!!!!!!!! thank you!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You're welcome 😊
A classic. Still looks great.
Dang right! Thanks for your comment.
Great looking cassette
I know right?! Thanks for stopping by the channel!
The SONY UX-PRO with gold packaging is for the US market and made 1992-94.
Thanks! And thanks for stopping by!
We had these in the Netherlands as well.
It’s definitely 1992
All Fuji cassete are very god!
Watching now in 2022 ...It is not dead and prices are now crazy.
Really!? I haven't kept up with prices very much. Would be interesting to eBay some of these and see what I would get. I'll tell you I have a TON of sealed blank cassettes to sell if anyone is interested.
@@TapeGeek31 If you have rare tapes ...you can get some nice cash nowadays.
I did 2 minutes and 13 seconds of 80s style step aerobics while watching this video... thanks for the motivation!!!
I would guess that the newer cassette is from the early to mid 90s. It has for CD on it but no web addresses. They tended to start putting websites on labels from the late 90s
Good observation. Thanks for watching!
Woooooooooooooooooooooo super sound
Why don't you talk about the tapes and at least do some recording tests on them? Just staring at a tape is pretty useless.
сразу в мусорку ее.
These cassettes have a good design! As for me design of cassete is better for recent UX PRO. But the package for second cassette from 80s is more interesting.
I remember trying to find the best sounding tapes for my 4 track multitrack cassette recorder and final mixdown back in the day. I think the Maxell black hi bias tapes always sounded the best. I still use 3.5" floppy disks some to save things on old school harware and just recently got rid of a Mini Disc 8 track recorder. I record on digital equipment now but it's still fun to encorporate some analog stuff in there. occasionally.
You need the HF-ES Metal S
maybe the HF-ES Metal S does not exist.
I have almost every Sony Letter tape from 1978-1991 in my collection and most are unopened
The newest Sony UX pro ccame out Christmas of 1991
Just opened one today. Great sounding tape on a good deck.
I like the bigger window and overall design of the older generation cassette better.
Not a big fan of this generation of Fuji. I like the sound and construction of the FR models much better.
I've found that the HB-2s sound as good as a Tdk SA. Great tapes!
You should do a video on the rare sinys
This was the last really good version of the SA. TDK cheaped out after that, like they knew the cassette's days were numbered and they decided to put their money and resources somewhere else. After this you got flimsy J-cards and only half the labels, plus they started welding the shells shut instead of the screws. Fortunately, the tape itself still was good, even the Imation-made SA's.
Right now the FE 1 is my go-to Type I, especially the versions with German-made BASF tape in them. The Saehan ones are decent, but I've found the German-made ones are slightly quieter and play better with Dolby S. I also have fewer biasing issues with the German ones than with the Saehans. There seems to be a lot more quality control. Unfortunately, the German versions are hard to find in that particular model year. Most of the ones I get off of eBay are the version after that one, the one right before they became EMTEC. It's a lot easier to get the German ones (it's got "Made in Germany" printed on the shell), and they're still pretty cheap.
I tried the newer Chinese-made DR-I's, and they were passable if not unremarkable. I have yet to try the Japanese-made ones, though.
