    question for you, I'm retiring in 3 years and i was looking to snow bird with my wife. we went to look at classA RVS . the wife doesn't like the large class a diesel pusher (my fav) . is the class A pusher too big for snow birding from Jan -may? i like the older 2005-2008 Monaco or country coach but don't want something huge . i don't know about gas rvs and how they are but i know they are a little smaller .

    • @RVIntoRetirement

      Monaco's are great for sure in those day ranges, the only thing I would say is diesels are meant to be driven so sitting around when not snowbirdi g

    I'm just starting the process. retiring in 3 years and want to purchase an older RV with no DEF doing the snowbird thing. going to leave around January and coming back in May. my wife sems to think the pusher is too much truck for just two of us . i was thinking we are living in this for like 4 months. bigger is better? she wants a shorted gas rig. I'm on the fence. can you help lol

    • @RVIntoRetirement
      @RVIntoRetirement 6 годин тому

      You can't go wrong with a pusher for snowbirding, but you might want to compromise with a smaller diesel.

    Korin and Jim, welcome back. Great to hear you took care on one knee and I assume it went well since you are having the second knee done. My only disappointment is not having a UA-cam channel by a fellow Foretravel owner. I have seen your Foretravel a number of times and it is a beautiful coach that a new buyer would not be disappointed buying.

    Same thing we discovered. We spent the entire summer on the road. 6 states and 7k. I have bad knees and every 6 months need them injected. They started to actup and took some of the joy away. So we decided we are best with a home base ( are home is northern Texas). We like 3-4 getaways and the occasion 2 week or so trip. Full time is not for everyone. I am 68 and the wife is 64.

      @ okay thanks. I’m currently full time in a 2003 Beaver Monterey outfitted with a Cummins 8.3 and rear radiator, which I considered my “starter coach” when I bought it 3 1/2 years ago. I’m looking to upgrade to either a Foretravel or a Country Coach since I want a side radiator and bigger engine. Maybe a tag too, but I don’t want to go too long. I’d love to find a 2003 FT U320 3820 which is a tag shortie.

    I wish he would have spent more time on the major,issues all diesel engines had between 03 and 2010, pre DEF. IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT THOSE YEARS AND YOU SEE SO MANY LOW MILAGE UNITS, THERES A REASON. He talks DEF but that’s post 2010. Pollution control by engine manufacturers was a disaster till DEF and the engines were a nightmare. Buyer be very aware!

    • @Tinfoilhat311

    • @kylec1154
      @kylec1154 2 місяці тому

      @ There’s a huge difference between as you say “per def” and when the work began on diesel particulate control in 03. I agree that anything pre 03 would be just fine if the engine oil was sent for testing and came back good. During that period 03 to 11 entire trucking and construct companies were bankrupted by those engines they couldn’t keep running. If you get a good engine in that period it’s likely it was modified by changing the computer. Huge fines on that if you’re caught and certified mechanics won’t touch them.

    You sound very educated. You sound like retired at, 45. With a wad of cash in the bank. Then you must be Jewish? You are not filled with tattoos. And you sound strangely, educated. So you are a retired lawyer? That wanted to get out of the rat race early. I understand fully. I was in Broadcasting for many decades. Many times. Watching you jokers in the courtroom. But I digress. Yes it's a clear sign. You are relaxed. Educated. Calm. Jewish. Retired early. Have no, stupid tattoos. And you seem to be mindful. What the hell is wrong with you man? Don't you know you are dealing with, simple, hillbillies? You think you're going to save the world? What are you Jewish? Like me with a Motorhome? Do you realize what outcasts we are? Where do you walk on Fridays and Saturdays? To the lake? Of course. There are no Chinese restaurants around. What the hell are we going to do? I'm no good at fixing my own Chinese food I'm Jewish! I can fix burgers, chili, spaghetti and sushi. And none of that is kosher! So what the hell are we going to do? There's many things different about a diesel pusher motorhome and you are Jewish. There just is. Ha ha. Like when they bang on your door early Sunday morning. To attend their, Hobo Church Service. Outside of Freddie's motorhome. Yeah but I didn't get to sleep until after 5 AM! And they want me to do the lights and sound. And I was still sleeping! Dammit all! It's almost impossible to be Jewish with a Diesel Pusher Motor home. But I keep trying. Even on Fridays and Saturdays. I thought we were supposed to rest on Sundays? No? Apparently not. Not with a Motorhome. Some folks use their air horns to reproduce church bells. I DON'T THINK SO AT? I'M TRYING TO SLEEP! AFTER A HEAVY FRIDAY NIGHT OF PARTYING SMOKING DRINKING. SHEESH! It's always something on the road. I mean. You know. It's like that. At, Mercedes and John's place of the, RV Odd Couple, UA-cam channel. You know it is. As they are a lovely couple with the campground. And have their, RV Church on-site. It's not a big campground. And they like to praise Jesus. All of the time. And I tip my, yarmulke to them. On Friday and Saturday nights. As I play in a, Yarmulke Rock Band. And we go, late on Saturday night. There is something about BLM, Dispersed Camping. It looks like the promised land. I think I'll go. For about 7 months. Then it's off to the beach for the next, 5! Yeah doggie! I would drive my RV Motorhome. To a tropical South Pacific island if I could. And stay there. But it's expensive to get a motorhome there. So I shall just stay on dispersed BLM camping. And pretend I am in the promised land. As long as I pay my yearly dues. To live in the promised land. Since I no longer pay any taxes. On Social Security only income. Of a miniscule amount. You know how it goes? If you didn't retire a millionaire. I certainly did not. Not by a longshot. I ended up on the wrong side of the eightball. Broke. It happens. When you try to support a big recording studio for years. Decades. And it all came crashing down with a Pandemic. I mean what the hell? Work towards something for over 40 years. And something you can't even see stops it. Just like that. After decades. RemyRAD

    Wow, Jim and Karen, I have been enjoying your videos. I matter fact I’ve been looking through the Internet at older for travel class RVs. I’m trying to find between 32 and 34 so I have just enough room to maybe put a small car on the back end, in California using my regular drivers license I can haul up to 40 feet. It’s either that or I have to go back and hit the Books and get my noncommercial drivers license which I’ll probably will end up doing eventually. Your videos are informative and I’ve enjoyed both of you talking on the channel. I look forward to your next video coming soon. I have subscribed to you and I hope that your past the 10,000 mark and that you’re making many more videos soon. I am retired at 72. My wife is 68 and we’re hoping to do something fun in our golden years.
