Wherein I attempt to read ALL the books. All of them. While consistently adding more books to my library. Because knowledge is power and right now, the bad guys are winning this particular culture war. So I am reviewing culturally insensitive thoughts, one book at a time. With booze. Because alcohol is proof that God exists and wants us to be happy. Ok Benjamin Franklin said that. About beer. But he's not wrong.

I’m interested to see what happens with his attempts to form a college.
Me too. I genuinely hope it goes well. Lord knows the current state of higher education is a complete fluster cuck
Also love your book reviews, the Earth needs cleansing, how we go about it is another thing, to many people may be offended lol😂😂😂😂😂
So true 😂
Absolutely love Jordan Peterson, I watch him on the you tube a lot 😂
He's one of my favorites
A very well articulated summary. It’s a shame we live in a world where everything has to be second guessed.
Thank you!
Very interesting, I’m British and know very little about American politics but that was good❤
Thank you!
I recently audio'd this book and completely agree on the functional aspects of string belts! I recently learned that the cross bead necklaces women in africa wear swish in such a way to keep flying pests from landing on them... I think that's a plausible functional aspect of the string belt as well. Thanks for being here!
Oh wow! That's so cool about the women in Africa! I believe way back when humanity started, form always followed function. When you're in basic survival mode, it doesn't need to look pretty but it damn sure better work!
@LokisLibrarian I've also tried to figure out how it could assist with menstrual flow control...
@@firerose7936 I'm a fan of experimental archaeology, but not quite sure how you'd test that one
@@LokisLibrarian well, interlabial menstrual pads are a thing... and so are tampons... it seems like placing fabric there is a pretty natural logic. String makes sense to me thinking of tying basically thong strips of absorbent thread between the legs... I get that we don't have evidence in the record for that... ex figurines with their belts tied up, or blood stained string skirt remnants. Just a thought. I'm as likely to be wrong as the skirts were just talismans with no practical applications 🤪
How close are you in your conquest of the bookshelves?
Not even close. Because they keep growing! I read a book that references other books and I think THAT sounds cool, I want to learn more about that. It's a vicious circle 😞
Great review 🏆
Thank you!
As a born again believer in Jesus Christ who has struggled with severe CPTSD for 25 years, I’ve recently undergone six treatments of ketamine treatments with psychiatric supervision. Though the results were not permanent, I did receive relief for the first time in my life. I doubt I would agree with most of the results of this author but I heavily support research into the medicinal uses of psychedelics.
I think the government has severely hamstrung advances in mental health with their current drug policies. I am very glad you've experienced relief and I hope it continues for you
Greetings from England :) Just came across your channel today, and I love your attitude! I’ve subscribed, and looking forward to watching more of your content. Randomly, I recently bought a copy of a bicentennial edition of the US constitution in a local charity shop. It was such a cool find!
Hey, thanks for watching! That is a cool find!
Wakes just creep into everything lol😂😂😂😂
Just found your channel. I’ve got a lot of catching up to do look forward to it.
Thank you!
Very interesting will have to read this one
Sounds like a good book😊
I was sat quiet for a moment in disbelief when you said about a comet hitting the Earth, it’s exactly what I think will happen. I agree it is a shit show, corrupt politics, greed and madness thinking your something your not. For all you Christian believers it will be Sodom and Gommorah on a world wide scale, kiss your arse goodbye😂😂😂 you woke weirdos
Great video glad I have seen it

I think it would be marvelous to spend an evening chatting with you. Im a subscriber now and look forward to hearing from you again. The so called experts are not to be trusted, i bet they hate that we can all communicate world wide now with our own ideas and opinions 😂😂😂
Oh I think the experts loath not being able to control the narrative. Thanks for subscribing!
Loved this critique. Im a believer in Graham Hancock's books. Why oh why would you burn knowledge that could help mankind, is it because they wanted control or maybe sone other force was controlling things?
Thx Loki, was watching Bret on Diary of the CEO, and found out about your channel on reviews on his book, thx for the review, yep I have library ebook app, free info prefer audiobooks too. Thx 😊 for summary of the book. 😊😊😊
This was an excellent brief review of a terrific book. I got the audiobook to enjoy while walking, and the detail was so interesting that I quickly obtained a hard copy too, in order to mark passages I considered compelling. I suspect that Paterson developed some sort of problem, physical (e.g. pain) or slightly mental, that caused her to behave increasingly unpleasantly toward others. The description of the progression in the book brought to mind a couple of my relatives to whom this happened. Early in the book, and long before helping pen the Little House series, Lane revealed to a boyfriend that life on the frontier certainly wasn't all that great: "You just try it once. With the well frozen, I mean the bucket frozen in it, and the floors dirty with muddy feet and dogs and wood-dirt and ashes-dust... and the swill having to be cooked for the hogs, and a sick lamb in the corner -- well, you just try it once." Mentioned at a couple of points in the book was that communism is akin to brotherhood, and that was a "sham." Sandefur adduced: Stalin showed no fraternal feeling toward the Ukrainians he starved, the Poles he massacred, or the Russians he enslaved. The word "equality" in the communist context only applies to the equality between fellow prisoners. Genuine fraternity is valid because it is chosen by free individuals -- not emotionally, but for rational reasons. I compliment Sandefur for an excellent book. P.S. (A little bitty P.S.... I saw what you did vis-a-vis "aviation," mentioning the "aviation generation." In the text it was the "airplane generation." But the aviation you made looked to be really good.)
Aviation was the closest I could get to The Airplane Generation. Thanks for the comments!
@@LokisLibrarian Just today I completed my second audiobook listening. In the final chapter we learn that our Great Aunt Ayn based the Atlas character Emma Chalmers -- Kip's Ma -- on Eleanor Roosevelt. The passage is, "Emma Chalmers, the mother of a collectivist politician who rises to prominence through her family connections and champions boneheaded agricultural experiments, is drawn from Eleanor Roosevelt." My mind instantly connected "boneheaded" and "Eleanor Roosevelt," and I laughed out loud.
Ha! I love it
It's interesting how the events that led up to the Civil War have been blurred. The 30 years prior leading up to the outbreak of war is a fascinating part of American history.
Deeply fascinating. 164 years later it's been distilled historically to one single thing: abolition of slavery. Probably because that was the ultimate outcome, even though that had nothing to do with why the war was fought
If I wanted to learn more about the struggles of westward expansion, what would you recommend?
This is such a great synopsis. Thanks so much - absolutely fascinating.
Hey I just wanted to let you know that Penn State University’s book series on magic is on sale for 40% off. Check it out when you can!
I would recommend the Picatrix if you want to know more about talisman/celestial magic, and Forbidden Rites by Kieckhefer.
Thank you!
One more thing, if there are any Grimoires that’ve taken your fancy, tell me which ones your most interested in, and I’ll tell you which translation is the best. Overall, avoid Mathers’ and Crowley’s translations - they’re basically incorrect.
I'm fairly certain Crowley was an undiagnosed sociopath. I've never heard of Mather
@@LokisLibrarianProbably, and definitely an undiagnosed narcissist. His writings are still really interesting, but don’t start with the Book of the Law.
If you want the best book on Grimoires probably ever written, check out the two volume series “The Grimoire Encyclopedia” by David Rankine.
Also, if you want the best overall history of of magic, check out the eight volume series a “History of Magic and Experimental Science” by Lynn Thorndike. It is monumental, and expensive, but worth it.
Gin and tonic with a Twist of lime, I find an incredibly refreshing drink. Props to clearing that glass 🫡
It's wasn't too bad.
For as much as the book is critical of Keynesian deficit spending, she (Amity) says nothing in the book nor her many talks since its publication about Reaganomics, which is just deficit spending on the military. In the at least the deficit spending of The New Deal gave us hundreds if not thousands of public works and infrastructure that exists to this day. Whereas Reaganomics gave us nothing but a giant military that politicians feel compelled to constantly use to justify its existence which comes at a cost of literally trillions in blood and treasure.
But why would she? This book wasn't about Reagan, it was specifically about the depression and FDR's policies? Throwing Reagan in would not have made sense, as he wasn't president until well after the decade in question. Deficit spending is bad, regardless of if it's for The Forgotten Man or the Military Industrial Complex, but this book was about a specific time period, discussing Reaganomics would have been highly anachronistic
@@LokisLibrarian I completely agree a discussion of Reagan doesn’t belong in this book. However, she’s a conservative ideologue who has never once attacked Reagan or any other Republican for profligate deficit spending. Which makes her attacks against the deficit spending of only The New Deal (and later the Great Society) ring hollow. Especially considering the real problem was we didn’t spend enough, as evidenced by 1937 depression within the depression that she dedicates at least a full chapter if not two to. More recent analysis by economists (amity is an English major IIRC) points clearly to that backsliding resulting from FDR pulling back on govt spending and reducing programs, not the culmination of bad tax and spend policy.
@@LokisLibrarian and deficit spending is not universally bad. Anyone who discusses the federal budget like they do someone’s personal household budget is being dleli stately deceitful of naive. The same applies to running the govt as a business.. because it’s not a business, it’s a government.
But you made it through that book! Go sister! Do the hard things.
I can’t watch this cause I can’t stand that noise…..bird or whatever
Pretty sure the medicine (mans but its usually not and yeah emale shamans exist plenty who do so its probably left ou?!) journey is something that the heros journey is simplified from extremely likely Dunno even about star wars a new hopew where argumently leia is the best character, i mean she does organize and is kinda the "old hope" and the reason why she cant be the one to save thae day, she isnt the main character, thats luke. But she does a lot and is argumently the one keeping the resistence afloat?! In a heroes journey no less. but there luke just, is the hero. so she cant be the main focus.
The Shaman's journey tracks with a Hero's Journey, so that makes sense. I think the reason Star Wars worked is that all the characters were equally developed, so it was a full experience, not just one guy Mary Sue-ing it to success.
I enjoyed your review. Read this when it first came out and have reread it many times over the years. Being a teenage girl, I liked his strong female characters. Moon is my favorite of all his books.

I picked that book up originally because I've always been fascinated with Hitchcock, but ended up loving it because of all the back stories of the actresses. My fave H movies are Rear Window and The Birds. I think though, that we'll never know all the secrets about H.
Those two are my favorite Hitchcock movies too. So brilliant!

Grace Kelly is just divine in Hitchcocks movies, her and Cary Grant eating chicken in a car overlooking Canne is one of the most romantic scenes I've ever witnessed in a movie. It's in To Catch a Thief.
She was a truly stunning woman, and just highlighted Hitchcocks preference for elegance in women
@@LokisLibrarian She is introduced in Rear Window by turning on the lamps in the room where James Stewart was resting, she was gorgeous there too. Elegance is a good description of her.
