    If the ball lands directly on the touch line does it still count as out on the full?

    Thanks. Very good video. I remember my full back did a defensive clearance kick outside of our 22m and went directly into touch. I was super puzzled why a lineout was awarded at the point where the kick was taken 🤣

    What happend if the kick is from your in goal? It is like you are out of your 22? But, it is not possible to do the line out from inside of the in goal isn´t?

    For anyone new to the game please note that the touch line is part of the "in touch" area so if the ball touches only a small part of the touchline then the ball is intouch. This is quite different to football where all of the ball has to cross the touchline for it to be intouch. A ball crossing the touchline is not in touch until it hits the ground. A player, jumping from within the field of play, may knock a ball that has crossed the touchline, but not made contact with the ground, back onto the field of play. Nobody said the laws are simple. Not being able to kick the ball directly into touch outside one's own 22 was introduced in order to encourage more running with the ball. This is a faint imitation of a Rugby League law that requires the ball to bounce in the field of play when kicked from any where on the pitch during open play.

    At 1:30 the player in white, his head and shoulders is lower than his waste / hips, technically I thought this was a free-kick violation, due to the fact that once the blue player makes contact with the white player that forms a ruck and the law states that in a Ruck your head has to be equal to or above your waist, or else it's a free kick to the opposition. I have never seen this free-kick called. Law 15.3 " Players involved in all stages of the ruck must have their heads and shoulders no lower than their hips. Sanction: Free-kick." it looks like the jacklers head is lower than his hips!

    Whenever I see an attacking side 'camped' on the 5 metre line - I always say to myself 'Why not go for the chip kick over the defensive wall? Another look at the 2nd tackle in this montage reveals a large space behind the defensive wall and, after 19 phases, I, as captain would be saying 'okay we're not getting very far with this attack - let's go for the chip or, alternatively, the grubber kick instead' A side is always at its most vulnerable to those sorts of kicks . A pre planned call from the number 10 and the 12, 13, 15 or even number 14 are all in prime position to re-gather for a try. Am I being naive? Why isn't this tried more often?

      Update: there is new rule for a kick called a 50:22 (pronounced 'fifty twenty two'). If the Ireland kicker (let's say) is (a) behind the half-way line, (b) kicks the ball past the opposition 22, (c) the ball bounces before going out, then Ireland (yes) get the lineout. To repeat: the ball must bounce inside the opposition 22 before going out, and the kick must begin inside your own half-way line. Doing this, you can kick AND get the lineout.

  • @Phantom-pj1ls

    When the player is in his 22 Can he kick the ball beyond half the pitch? If the ball goes straight to the touch the game starts from there or isn't valid because the ball passed half the pitch? Thx!

    • @Live.Laugh.Lobotomy
      @Live.Laugh.Lobotomy 3 роки тому

      If you are in your own 22 you can kick it straight out (on the full) and the opposition will get a line out where it went out. If you kick out on the full outside your 22 the opposition will get the ball where you kicked it from

      That was my question. Can I consider this rules like football? The last person thouching the ball, his team does not have the possession? And the only big exception is when it's kicked after a penalty?

    • @ozziesama
      @ozziesama 4 роки тому

      @@NBBeska yes. the team which is rewarded a choice penalty (they may choose kicking for goal, tap penalty, scrum or kick to touch) and choose the kick to touch option, they kick the ball to touch and use a line out where the ball goes into touch. very good option to gain territory, or make a try.

    I'm pretty sure that the Brumbies and the wallabies were the first to use this tactic in the late 90s and early 2000s if I remember rightly. At the time it proved very effective as the Brumbies won the Super 12 comp and wallabies regularly beat the ABs and won the Bledisloe Cup. Kudos to their coach who is now coaching England.

    Great video, really cleared up some confusion. Question: at what point can defensive players get hands on the ball after the ruck? I'm assuming once the advancing team's no.8/scrum half touches it to make the pass? If that is so, lets say the ball spills out of the ruck, when can a player dive on it?

    one thing that isn't mentioned is that if you are the tackler but don't go to ground,you still have to come through the gate, if you are the tackler and do go to ground then you don't have to worry about the gate.
