Las Vegas Strip Lockdown/Shutdown March 2020 due to Coronavirus - Mandalay Bay, Flamingo, and more!
We got moved into a two bedroom suite after being put into two absolutely filthy rooms when we were there for our wedding in 2021. The room was so incredibly dated. The couch looked like it had been there since Elvis played Las Vegas. The better bedroom had the worse bathroom and vice versa. I would never have actually paid for that room as it needed to be updated so badly.
Sorry to hear about this experience, especially given you were there for your wedding :( it seems the Palazzo has not aged well. It opened in 2007 and hasn't had any TLC since. They are only just starting to refurbish Venetian rooms and it's been open since 1999! I think this suite was definitely "OK for the money" but I just think there are better options in Vegas for the same or less money.
What is the room number of this suite?
Good question! I had to check my room key holders that they give you at check in. I am pretty sure this is 5833 - but that’s best guess based on my room keys!
@@RustyOnTRAVEL Thanks for the info! Wife and I are planning a trip in August. We wanted the suite with both shower and tub. Thanks for the info.
@ThatRed4Runner hope you have a great trip :)
@@RustyOnTRAVEL Thank you!
I really want to try this out!
that's a nice room for basic!
Perfect timing just reserved this for march madness next year
Hey Rusty, Another great hotel review. This is exactly the type of video review travelers need. Also, you should add your recs on Plannin. Congrats on a job well done.
are the glasses in the bar / sink area??
Hi! Only the two tumblers next to the ice bucket. Another reason I struggle to rate Cosmo as a "luxury" hotel compared to their competition.
@@RustyOnTRAVEL well that's a negative for sure! We booked this type of suite for our upcoming nuptials in a couple of weeks. We plan to have a small group of family party with us in the suite and will definitely need cups. Looks like I need to pay some disposable to bring with me!
@@kristinemmeshachveselinovi5784 it's not a party unless you have red Solo cups :)
@@RustyOnTRAVEL amen
That is awesome! Wonder what the price is...
On a "cheap" night next week I saw it for $1550/night + tax and resort fees. I paid just $792 all in for the one night by walking up to the front desk. An amazing deal, and we were sent complimentary chocolates and champagne, too!
@@RustyOnTRAVEL that really was a good deal 👍
Hi Russ.
Hi Jim 😃
🎉🎉🎉🎉
What doesnt this villa have? Lol. Great tour. Youre really funny. Amazing room.
Thanks for sharing this Suite Tour. I agree, considering this as superior to the Royal Suite. Fantastic view, too! I'm glad that you enjoyed it!
wow.. I actually like that room better than the grand presidential
do you have access to the pool? or do you have to go all the way around?
You have to go all the way around, which is really annoying!
@@RustyOnTRAVEL thanks for your fast answer! hmm, that kinda sucks and is a downgrade
Very nice 👍🏽 May I ask the cost of this suite and what day it was?
I stayed Sunday - Tuesday and I paid $250/night for the base room and $150/night to upgrade. However this was a normal member price, not on any kind of discount room offer, however I did get $50 a day resort credit.
Dang man, you get the best upgrades!
nice looking room
Sure wish I could've gotten that room, lol. Thx Russ.
Thanks for posting! This is the one for sure.
Glad you like it!
Awesome tour Rusty. I don’t think I’ve ever used a hotel steamer or iron!
Was it quiet
It was peaceful enough once the pool closed. On my first night, they had the late night movie showing which was quite loud (but not a regular event). I was pleasantly surprised by the quiet the following evening. Of course, as you can hear in the video, the pool music is pretty loud during the day on the terrace. But the room was OK!
@@RustyOnTRAVEL thanks! I didn’t think about the pool but makes sense.
Cool hack using the hanger to clip the drapes shut! The room is lovely, thank you for showing it to us.
Good day, I've stayed in this suite before. I'm trying to decide on the royal suite at FB or return to this one. Which would you choose? Location not being a factor.
Hello! I would definitely pick the suite at Fontainebleau, though I would actually pick the Noble suite. I think this suite is a better value, and the layout of the living area is more spacious and bright. I prefer Fontainebleau overall as a resort, especially the pool, spa, and lounges, and the rooms feel more luxurious in my opinion. Given you already experienced the terrace, I think you'll find the room quality at Fontainebleau a step up.
@@RustyOnTRAVEL Thank you, I appreciate the fast reply. I was going to book the noble suite however I would rather have the soaking tub.
The Noble suite has a soaking tub too :) I'm a tub guy so it's important for me. The Gold and Platinum rooms at Fontainebleau don't have a tub. The Bleau (base rooms), Noble and Royal suites have tubs.
@@RustyOnTRAVEL Okay, thank you!
Nice Russ. I looked up from the overlook grill when we stayed there in April and wondered what those rooms would be like. Looks fairly awesome. Thx. (hulkstillrules, aka Brad).
Excellent comped upgrade! Thanks for sharing tour.
was that a roach in the sink? lol
LOL! I had to watch to see what you meant. Must've been a fly else I think I would have paid it more attention 🤣
"Del-ano", not "Del-a-no". Like Franklin "Delano" Roosevelt.
I've heard it pronounced both ways by staff, it's definitely the former on the automated phone system though.
# 9999 X 9999 🎉
That outdoor patio looks excellent. Not convinced by that second toilet room, needs to have a shower or something in there to fill the space, or use it as a kitchen not a bathroom.
Agreed ... or they could put a gym bike and TV in there for a "personal gym". Or a big TV and a couple of La-Z-Boys for a mini cinema. So many better options than what they went with!
Great review! I highly doubt the manager is going to do anything to replace/repair the carpeting.
He did take notes, but yeah, I'm not entirely convinced. Maybe they will though. I doubt I'll be staying in that room type again to check!
That is Paul Anka. 🎤 5:30
They cheap out on the shower heads 😢
Water pressure was great, but the cheap shower heads stood out like a sore thumb when the suite is meant to be luxury.
Fab Russ - agree with every sentiment on that suite
I'm totally surprised that ALL ROOMS don't have rain showers!
Yes, the fact the shower head stood out so much is a sign they missed a trick here.
Hey Russ. Hulkstillrules here, aka Brad, lol. The view never gets old does it! Great video and review. Cheers.
Hey! 100% agree. Best view in Vegas for my money. I think it's the colourfulness of MGM, Excal, and the light beam from Luxor that makes it. Cheers!
Wow. Cheap Sofas in the living area.. and a really cheap side table against the living room wall. And cheap bedroom headboards behind the beds. This is [definately] not on par with other Waldorf Astoria hotels. The original Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas suites had much higher quality furnishings. Thank you for the suite tour 😊🏝
The overall effect didn't feel cheap, but it did lack a luxury feel. I regret not having the chance to stay when it was the Mandarin. For me, the draw of staying at this hotel is the pool deck. By far the best, most relaxing in Vegas, with great cabana deals.
Las Vegas hotels rooms were definately higher quality during the 2000s.. They are now no longer anything above a "nice" Marriott. Even Cosmo's rooms are so much more generic than their original incarnation. Same with 90% of all of the other "upscale" hotels in town. The fabrics, lighting, furniture, fittings, are not even really close to being "luxury". The only luxurious things about most Vegas rooms is the size. Skylofts desperately needs to be redone.. those "lofts" are from 2004! Definately Not Luxury.
Finally someone who says this. Also add in the fact that most if not all major hotels on strip have the same exact room layouts and basically the same design language. The hard product (non-existent) selection of the las vegas hotel scene is just absolute madness. I get that it is an accessible vacation spot for both east and west coast americans but man this place is not a good level vacation town if you set aside the open air debauchery circus aspect of it.
The most luxury base room I've seen was at Encore. That place still wows me today. I get what you're saying though. This suite was nice, with a luxury attention to detail in places, but it wasn't "wow".
For me, room rates in Las Vegas are still the best value compared to anywhere. I think that's why people keep going back. I can stay in a big suite in Vegas for the same price as a base room at a Hilton in London.
I’ve sat in everyone of those chairs naked.
I thought that's what everyone does as soon as they get to their room
Maybe that’s why I had an itch. 😂
@@_Access_Denied_101It was from the multiple escorts.
@@keltecdan I’m promiscuous. 😂
@@_Access_Denied_101 The penthouse scene from Smoking Aces comes to mind.
Lucky you’ve got the room on the ground floor!
I stayed at the Venetian in 2015 and it was a spectacular experience. I stayed at the Palazzo in Jan 24 and it was very mediocre. Nothing changed, The room was dated and dirty. This suite looks better than my room, but it wouldn't bring me back.
How much coke has been done off that piano?
this the cheapeast room? ultra hip queens?
No it's the next one up, the "resort" part is important. Those rooms have a bigger bathroom and layout compared to the base "ultra" rooms
@@RustyOnTRAVEL dam, so i'll be staying in a shittier room lol those beds look sadAF
@@kleptodathief3946 Yeah will be a bit smaller but it's a solid room and PH has the party pit in the casino which makes up for it ;)
Yes, I do agree that this is a solid room! BTW, do you recall if there was an empty mini-fridge inside the large desk compartment?
I think so, think I remember using it.
Thanks for the tour! It is a decent junior suite. You had mentioned that the view from the window was pitch black. Could you please elaborate on that?
When I checked the next day, I was looking at a wall, lol. So zero view. Kind of weird to have a tub by a window with no view, but I guess that's the trade off for being on the lowest level.
350 a night is the theft of the year! I agree the room does need to be renovated. They could do so much more with that space.
where are from y’all must have it good because $350 for a 2000ft is a steal in any city
Valuable comments you've made in the video description for anyone who may have contemplated staying here - I'm guessing you've learnt now to add that into the actual vid, so people don't miss them? Also, maybe give us the price you paid for the room in future vids? Always a big help when people are trying to decide where to stay on their next trip to Vegas!
Stunning
WOOOOW
Excellent review Rusty - all the facts, good clear camerawork, details of the price at the end ... keep em' coming.
Nice! I usually travel with my two sisters, and this room looks like it would be great for us!
The sofa is 100% long enough for an extra person too!
