Mindless spending of $...retail therapy...but good you are back on the hunt for a job...wishing you the best outcome! Until you get hired, work on your own projects...if you're a coder, code up a storm...learning new tech is a good thing to do....SAVE MONEY!
This is pretty sad :-(
0:50 I like how the boss sounds like a tech support scammer. Madam, just tell me the gift card code!
Love your vlogs.Keep posting them.❤️
I am exhausted. I have been looking for a job for 8 months. Applied to 300 jobs and 10 interviews. 😢 Having a baby soon too. I don’t know what else to do. Congratulations!! 🎉 I am so happy for you. ❤
Something I realized is that we don’t know the value these moments have at the end of our lives. Perhaps this time with our loved ones, is so much astronomically worth more, that even the risk or experience of poverty is worth it. Especially as a parent. Just my two cents
They are trying to get cheaper employees..and laying off expensive employees... This capitalism shit is crazy really... Social protection needs to be number one on any country list...we are not slaves we are human beings... The profits needs to be shared by all ... We should not allow rich people become crazy rich on the expense of employees treated like slaves... If you fired an employee ok. You need to pay his salary for 6 months... Rich people are getting too rich ... We need job security and a world where human are NOT HUMAN RESOURCES
Nice editing, good effort. As a small creator myself, I am truly inspired by your vlog. I've subbed and hope to have more inspiring contents from you. I also just returned from Tokyo and uploaded few vids. Keep up the great work!
Glad you got a job. Was worried.
Are you guys sisters,.....? I just discover your channel and I see you put your life journey on the frontline here, I hope you will achieve success in your new Path. It seems very raw, fresh, untapped this means a good sign you're be good in the future. A cookie cut career field won't work for most people now because AI or tech is changing day by day and leave people thinking about creating fresh new untapped things and ways to stay alive.
Yes that's my sister
P.S: Congrats. Chicago would be a great place to work. Years ago I spent 3 months there going to a school for an employer, and lived in a hotel just off Rush street. One of the best times of my life.
Voice of experience: 1: Have a $afety net built up. Assume you could be out of work for up to a year, but plan on getting some type of employment within 6 months. 2: With the two holidays and dwindling budgets at the end of the year, the end of the year (Nov-Dec) seems to be a slow hiring period, whereas the beginning of the year sees more normal hiring activity. The college graduation period (May-June) might be the best time to have a resume out. 3: Assume that you will be moving on to a new position every (approx.) 4 years. I know a non-programmer who has been in the same position for about 10 years. However, she has seen a lot of turnover and has been treated like crap. She does not like the people but likes the work, so she is staying for now. 4: If you are a programmer, get certification. For Salesforce.com job it is almost mandatory that you have the PD1 cert. It was not required during hiring by my current employer, but 9 months after being hired there was a sudden push to ensure all developers had the PD1. I obtained it 6 months after being hired so I was set. For me it is a little more than a piece of paper as I have 10 years of Salesforce/Java experience and an MSCS degree. 5: Really learn your craft and don't be someone who is googling every roadblock you encounter. This will help you stand out in your current position and ensure you are prepared when moving on to your next position. 6: Company names are just words, so don't get warm and fuzzy feelings when you think about working for Gggle, Msoft,FBook.
what the fuck man. you sound like shit
You did not lose 2.5 years, you gained 2.5 years of experience. For any tech job, always pretend you only have six months left. What good things can you accomplish? What training can you do? How can you keep your skills relevant? Always have a few months of savings. You probably have a new job by now. I have been laid off a few times, not a big deal, it leads to better things, you don't want to be at a job where they don't need you.
So how man things did they not allow you to keep going through customs? Japan seems like a overwhelming place to visit.
Japan will give you some hint of your life from now on.
❤️
Thanks for sharing the video of your trip to Japan. We hope you will visit Japan again. We also post information about Japan on our channel if you want to check it out😊
when Indians come to the company you 100 will get layoff because they will redirect jobs to India
That wasn't coffee, that was milk with some coffee added.
Loved your vlog.❤
Nice, good luck
Just curious, how many years of experience did you have already? I graduated with a CS degree months ago with no experience, I've kind of just given up. Even for junior positions, you compete with people with 2-3 years experience
I have over 5 YOE - this time around I found it harder than I have before. finding a job in tech is just really hard atm
@beccawex dang, appreciate the reply. I decided to stop applying to swe/qa/helpdesk jobs for now and am just applying to tech sales jobs now, that side is still not as bad to get entry level interviews (BDR). I'm Canadian and unfortunately things are even worse here for the SWE market than the US
IT industry is a joke! never has history seen such a volatility. I wish companies weren't this greedy and they don't call us a hire. They should employ us, they groom us to keep us, not fire us later on. Some of us simply want a peaceful stable job with slow growth and a decent pay. We don't want to be dispensed like this. I'd do anything to trade this off for a different engineering field.
Looks like live with parents which helps
Really like your videos. Waiting to see what you do next! :)
I was never interested in working the tech industry, but I know people work in it. Unfortunately, these companies don't give a shit about you. Everybody is constantly on edge. They want you to move to be closer to their offices and come into the office 3-5 days a week as a mechanism of control. I see in another video that you got a job, and I'm happy for that. I just hate where the tech is right now.
Love your channel!
How did you manage to find those 4 referrals? was it by DMing recruiters on Linkedin?
I got referrals from reaching out to previous coworkers and friends in companies where I saw job postings that matched what I was looking for in my next role
@@beccawex what would you recommend if you don't have previous experience in the field you're trying to find work in?
try going to networking events, cold applying to jobs and messaging people on linkedin. its a numbers game
@@beccawex tanks, appreciate your adivce and time!
Congrats!!!
Congratulations! So, since you got 6 HR phone screens and 4 were referals, does that mean out of all the cold applications you only heard back from 2?🤔🤔🤔
the last time i got laid off it took me 18 months to find a new job, so you are doing damn good. and possibly even lucky. i would never *ever* move to a new place without a job in hand either because moving costs a lot and I am not gaurnteed to find a job there. glad it worked out!
I'm so glad that you got it! They should give you a pension for making you go through all those interview rounds!
I'm happy for you. Congratulations.
8 rounds of interviews is insane. i just interviewed yesterday and the decision is made by one 15 minute phone screen...
This is why I never had any interest in working in corporate setting. On top of the hoops they put you through just to be selected, you can be let go for many reasons and many times out of the companies control like laying people off to stay afloat. I feel like these jobs have no job security. You can be back on the street in months..looking. I think its time I create my own work.
Congrats Becca, There are 3 levels btw -> 1) job 2) career 3) calling, so can't wait to see you try to reach your calling
Congratulations! 🎉
I was laid off from my tech job when my company was taken over. I paid pretty much all the cash I had to retrain as an SAP consultant when it paid huge rates. When you are young and laid off you can analyse the market and retrain for whatever you want.
One bad idea after another. All the best.
Why is it a bad idea?
Improve your penmanship, lol.
Back to India I guess.
All my friends are leaving tech after 27- 35 years …. They say it is a lonely world and the hate it … its one cause of depression in the world …outdoor jobs are healthy
mid but personality seems to be wonderful
I'm a lefty as well. When I was a kid, I read that the average life span of a lefty was 9 years less than that of a righty. It had nothing to do with genetics or health. It was because many lefties met untimely deaths due to using tools/equipment made for righties. At the time, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Can't wait to see the vlog on landing a job when it comes!
hey u wanna travel america? i'm looking for a travel partner
Have children. Focus on the important stuff.
I hope you're able to find your inner peace. I haven't lost my job, but I'm going through the toughest 2 months of my career. It dramatically affects my mental & physical wellbeing. So it appears that regardless if you're employed or not, we need to endure the tough times. Wish you all the best. Much love from Poland.
Have fun in the winter lol.
every HR person have the same script lol
Hi Beca ! I just randomly found your channel. Just a question, how do you found your apartment ?
