Fairlane Performance Upper Control Arms from Mike Maier
I just got my Mike Maier upper control arms for the 1966 Ford Fairlane project. The goal of this cart is a sporty and reliable daily driver. These control arms shift the weight of the car further back on the suspension which should improve handling and the ball joints are said to be replaceable with common parts from big box auto stores. Better handling and easier maintenance was the reason I selected these. They do take a very long time to be made and shipped to you, so be aware of that.

If you are looking for a quality tool cabinet with a wood top, check out Harbor Freight's 46" Yukon. It doesn't have soft close drawers however its is about $100 less than many other comparable tool cabinets. Overall it feels very solid and has soft mats for each drawer. For Black Friday (2024) it is on sale for $299.99. I just bought it yesterday for that price. 46 inch 9 Drawer Mobile Storage...
289 Engine Removal - 1966 Fairlane
Переглядів 1202 місяці тому
As I rebuild my dad's high school 1966 Ford Fairlane XL, I need to pull the 289 engine and C4 transmission. I was going to pull the engine and transmission separately however my uncle recommended doing at as one piece. After pulling it as one piece, I agree it is much easier. The transmission just needs the support bracket underneath of it removed and then the shifter and a few other connection...
Crate Motor or 289 Rebuild?
Переглядів 3002 місяці тому
As I am finally getting to the motor of the 1966 Ford Fairlane XL restoration (restomod) project I am torn between buying a short block crate motor or rebuilding the 289 which is currently in the car. If I do a crate motor it could be cheaper however I feel it will limit my customizability. If I rebuild it I will have more personalization however it looks like it might cost more and the block m...
289 in Rough Condition - Should I Rebuild It?
Переглядів 3232 місяці тому
The cylinders look fine however there was a lot of crap in the area where the intake manifold sits. Should I rebuild the 289 or just buy a crate engine? I am planning on taking it to an engine shop to get an opinion as well.

      My guess would be the change in environment. For winter they get less light especially if they are brought indoors. I killed a few trees my first year as I didn't realize I needed to water less in the winter. Citrus would rather be too dry b than too wet.

    Nice review. I’ve seen so many various reviews about this. But this was very direct. I need this mainly for deliveries. I don’t need cloud storage. Which I heard the price for that was a joke. Smh but just to monitor when the garage is open.

    I have hard ground which is also full of rock once you get a few inches down. It grows grass and weeds perfectly but isn't great for much of anything else. I use the same tactics - plant into a kind of mound and try to get as much new soil into the hole beneath. The hardest part is digging a hole deep enough into the hard ground. I'm inspired by your video though as you're growing pretty much what I want to grow!

  • @naomiledger1374

    I did find it helpful, thank you! I have 3 citrus trees which are in the ground but were only planted a couple months ago. While the leaves on my orange tree are nice and dark, they are a little cupped. And on the grapefruit and lemon I notice some leaves have some yellowing on them. The soil won't be hugely different as they're all in the same bed, but anything's possible. I also notice that the older leaves on each tree are dark green and small, while the new leaves are really big and lighter green. Why the different leaf size? Thanks again.

    • @BiancoLand_
      @BiancoLand_ Місяць тому

      I don't know the exact reason for larger new leaves however I've had the same thing happen. I would guess it is due to more nutrients when the newer leaves grew compared to the old leaves. Also, trees that produce larger fruit will have larger leaves which I find interesting.

    The crate motors are built with garbage parts and hardware. ( At least the affordable ones) Rebuilding with parts that are good can still be done at a crate motor price. ( Excluding) All your time . Definitely rebuild. This is only true if you know a good machine shop that you trust

    Its a question even I have asked myself for my Ford Falcon. At one point I priced individual components vs a blueprint crate engine, and price wise, they are pretty close. Atleast with turn key its one less worry, as it comes with warrenty iirc. But then you miss out on the fun of building one lol.

    Hey! I am building an A-frame, and the plans show two 1-3/4" ridge beams at 48' long made from LVL, which creates a 3.5" thick beam. I'm pretty sure I can do this, but I wanted to see your thoughts: Cant I break these up into 12 foot sections and stagger the joints between the two LVLs? For example, I would start with a 6' and 12' LVL on one end, and keep adding ridges as I lay the rafters. The ridge beam is structural, but its not load bearing.

    • @BiancoLand_
      @BiancoLand_ 3 місяці тому

      I'm not an engineer so this is just an opinion. It sounds like you have a ridge board and not a ridge beam. In that case as long as you have the right fasteners you should be able to overlap as you are describing. Mine is basically a weaker version of your approach.

      I move them into a garage. Citrus can usually handle the cold if a garage that is attached to a house. A few years ago I build a heated garage though and they now go in there. Most citrus can handle 32 degrees. I've left my kumquats outside overnight in below freezing temperatures and they were fine.

      That was my thinking as well. Since my front yard is about a third of an acre by itself, a battery would be tough. I'll be adding a backyard this next year which will be half an acre which just makes that concern even more valid.
