The West Highland Way in Winter Conditions.
Hi. Which did you prefer: Gran Canaria or Tenerife?
Gran Canaria!!!
Hi. Thanks for the video. I might have missed it but when exactly did you hike this?
March this year heading back for another two islands next March.
Hi JT great video it was a little difficult getting through burnt forest I'm off to Lanzarote Fuertevenura next week to complete those sections of GR 131 not taking Tent tho booked accommodation got 1 night in tourist shelter Well done
Yes we had a little bother in places. enjoy your next adventure. We have flights booked for March nect year.
Es totalmente recomendable se puede hacer sin caseta facilmente, yo lo hice en agosto. Ojo con el agua es un bien escaso
Sir you are underrated and i wish you get attention u deserve but deep down i have feelings like if you stay that way it's like and secret hideout for us who have found you and pls keep uploading
Thanks :)
I've been there as well! it's really beautiful! unfortunately it was really cloudy
Thats a shame.
Brilliant video, excellent spot. Food looked delicious ATB Dan 👍 👍 👍 👍
What an Adventure and the Highlands covered in snow are just stunning! Walked the WHW End of August / Beginning of September 2023. It was nice to watch your vid, the WHW in totally different conditions.
Very beautiful & Underrated
Amazing film, JT! Was like walking it again. I'd have thought bivvies would have been an amazing idea but not so sure after yours flooded. Would you stick with bivvies for the GR131 do you think?
Hi Jonno and thanks for watching. Very poor research on the bivy of choice as it turned out it only states to have a waterproof base and only highly water resistant upper. I will use it again after fabsil treatment and seam seal test. Did love the freedom of where you can get your head down and looking at the stars at night in the bivy.
Good stuff! Looked like a great trip. Watched this and the Gran Canaria video, researching a trip out there myself. Probably will do the Gran Canaria leg later this month. Then the Tenerife leg another time, when I can get a permit to summit Teide. Cheers for the detailed videos and inspiration
Sorry for the late reply. Gran Canaria was my favourite. Remeber you dont need a permit if you go up for sunrise.
Good stuff brought back some memories though we did it in mid summer first day B n B Drymen after setting off at 1pm and a train journey second night wild camp at Rowardennan by what was SHA followed by a naughty camp by the side of the path at Falloch after a pint at the Drovers we treated our selves to a nights stay at the what was the Kingshouse Hotel before the latest development
Smart using Bivy bag on GR131, hard winds can easily destroy tents, keep on the good work!!!
It saved us a load of time trying to find larger pitches for tents.
Loved the morning brew, no words needed, that necessity, its cassic. Canny pitch in that small cave.thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching and the comment :)
Lovely, the Lake District scenery never disappoints!
Love the place :)
Excellent video. Walked it last year and remembered almost every scene. NIce work.
Thanks :) I really enjoyed that walk.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
Cheers :)
What a superb little find !
Cramped and uncomfortable, but ticked it off :)
Hi, you’re right, I have left the car at Mounthooley overnight but I was unaware of the no overnight parking rule- I wasn’t challenged but I think that may just have been luck. I guess it’s either cycle up the valley or walk from Hethpool in future. Lovely video though, well filmed and a joy to watch, ATB, Graham 👍
Thought you had mentioned you'd parked before. Will have to get there a bit earlier for the walk in next time. Thanks for the kind comment Graham.
Very nice ! great horizon shots, looked like a very chilled one. Great spot.
Was well needed.
I was there at the beginning of May & parked overnight, was midweek and not another soul to be seen. The Schill is one of my favourites so have parked @ Mounthooly overnight a few times, not a great fan of the walk from Hethpool to there, done it a couple of times and to be honest, I cannae be arsed with it..... rather save and expend that energy in't hills! Nice upload, cracking weather & spot. ATB P.S. The Shanglang is a great tent for when the conditions are like this....... Out of all of my tents, all the big names, all the superstars, you know the ones....... The Shanglang is my favourite, it's just so....... honest. It doesn't shout, "look at me, look at me", it just gets on with it quietly, and for a very reasonable price. Best bang for your buck out there, and that's including slack Alice outside the Scout building in Alnwick on a Thursday night after 10pm. :-)
Thanks for watching. Did you get any hassle for parking overnight at Mounthooly?
@@jtoutdoors9888 No, never a word said. Paid for the permit & it does say on the website that no overnighting but never had any bother.
Great vid John. Really enjoyed it. Dropped you a sub. Dave sent me over (miles from anywhere), I follow you on insta but didnt realise you had a channel 😊
Cheers Kerry 😀 we are so lucky to be close to the Cheviots. But a bloody bogfest in winter 🤣
@@jtoutdoors9888 bog fest in summer mate 🤣

Nice one JT 👍
Cheers wor Jimmy 😁
Smashing John, gotta be one of my favourite all time spots that. Perfect conditions adding to what looked a perfect camp. I can certainly relate to the videos mate, sometimes it’s a chore, other times it’s enjoyable! A lovely well shot video this, great stuff. Thanks for the mention, Atb Dave
Cheers Dave it was a lovely one. It really was inspired by you and the way you create your videos.
Hello from France! I discovered the channel with this video! Great images, authentic hikes, very well done editing, a real good time to watch! Thank you very much for sharing, I will watch the other videos right away! One more subscriber in solidarity between hikers and UA-camrs! Lawrence. Best wishes 🙂👍
Thanks Lawrence 🙂

Nice! Good drone footage 😃 not long until we are back out, yee ha 😁
Bloody can't wait 😁
Loved that. So quiet and chilled out. I’m out tomorrow night and hoping for something similar. I look forward to the next one 👍
Cheers Geoff. Just watching a video on your channel now and as you know it's not always as nice as this 😄. This one was perfect.
@@jtoutdoors9888 cheers for watching mate, aye not all perfect unfortunately 😂. Yours was but 👌. I hoping for a quiet one tonight but you just never know with the weather.
Looked like another cracking night. I don’t mind that walk through the college valley tbh. It’s worth it to get to those unspoiled points, where you can see for miles and miles in every direction. I love the Cheviots, they’re my new favourite place. Another great video btw. Thank you for sharing it. Great drone footage too 👍
Cheers Albert, this was a lovely one. I also love the hike in and will just leave earlier next time 😁
Hello! Nice video! by any chance did you do this at the beginning of August last year? And was it you I bumped into in the morning as I was leaving the cave and you were coming in? Lol
Hi There! Yes that's right, hope you enjoyed the rest of the trail.
I've watched a stack of WHW UA-cam videos and yours is one of my favourites. Those views from Rannoch Moor, outstanding. Thanks for posting this I really enjoyed it. You were sensible to turn back before the summit on the Ben, the mountain will be there tomorrow, trick is to make sure that we are too, as the famous mountaineer Don Whillans is reputed to have said.
Thanks for the great comment just wish I had a better camera at the time. Got the Ben done when we did the National Three peaks Challenge last summer.
Looks class! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching Craig.
John, your a braver man than me. That was great mate. What a find and a very interesting camp. You had it looking great with the candles and all. Honestly mate, really enjoyed that video. Bravo sir :)
Cheers for watching. It looked alright but was bloody scruffy and no views at night. If I did another cave camp it would need an opening so I could see the night sky.
Brilliant John. Another lovely video. Really enjoyed seeing how you got on in the cave. Even though it was a bit tight 😅
Thanks for watching Emz 😀 It was certainly a bit tight 😅
Ha, super nice. Well done.
Cheers and thanks for watching 😀
Spot on John, nice vid as always mate. Still on my list a cave camp, that’s certainly a nice location to spend the night. Loved the wood burning stove 👍. Cheers, Dave
Cheers Dave. The video made it look pleasant but it was cramped and scruffy 😂 Nice to get it ticked off.
Love this place 😃 brattys are bloody lush 😋
Stunning... What a place
Thanks, Northumberland is a beautiful place.
Hi mate. What a great spot for a camp, brilliant stuff. Thanks ever so much for sharing it with us. All the best, Dave. 😀🥾⛰
Cheers Dave. Back to the mountains for the next outing.
Nice one Captain Caveman, Unga Bunga !
😄
Great video lads! Having done it myself a few times now, I can say this video gave me the bug to do it again (maybe even in winter!) . . All the best lads, and thanks for visiting and appreciating our country! :)
Thanks for watching. Bloody loved every minute of it and can't wait to do it again.
Nice one Lads 👍
Cheers Jimmy 😀
At last ! Great images, looks like a really enjoyable trail...onwards to the next one...
Tenerife was great but not as epic as Cran Canaria. The devastated forest on the first day and a half made it tough. Roll on next spring for two more islands.
@@jtoutdoors9888 I suspect we're gonna see some huge wildfires this year, so those landscapes are sadly gonna become more widespread. Canada lost an area twice the size of Portugal last year...get out there and see it while you still can
Wow what an amazing trail. Stunning the whole way. Really enjoyed this. Thanks for sharing 🎉
Cheers Emz 😀 really was a stunning adventure .
Excellent video bought a smile to my face as I walked exactly same 2 walks couple months ago Bivvy bag way to go as Tent pitch rare will more than likely get the urge to complete GR 131 early nx year
Thanks for watching Steve. Really enjoyed your videos on my return. Also got the urge to do a couple of islands next year 😁
cracking video mate, what an epic adventure :)
Cheers guys. It was a cracking adventure.
What a brilliant video John, absolutely loved this mate. You’ve wet my appetite for a trip abroad now 😂. Great stuff, thanks for taking us along. Dave 👌👋
Thanks Dave 😀. It cost the same as we spent on the West Highland Way last year.
@@jtoutdoors9888 😂😂😂
Wow.. nice one lads 👍
Cheers Jimmy. I was a sunning hike.
Amazing trail, good shout to bivvy instead of a tent. Looking forward to the next installment !
Cheers Mark. It really was a stunning trail.
Hurry up with the next episode !!! @@jtoutdoors9888
Super nice videos mate, found your channel after reading your comment on Harmen‘s New Zealand South Island video. Keep it up, really good channel, enjoying watching your videos from the Bavarian Alps. Anytime you‘re out here look us up for a Schnitzel! :-)
Thanks and will do 😀
Your winter camping video is a beautiful reminder of the magic found in nature's embrace. It's as if I'm reliving my own snowy adventures in the mountains through your lens.Hilleberg lover too. Liked!
Thanks for the kind comment 😀
I love the Dog and Gun too. Great pub food
