A Drone Channel, there are only a few million of those but I try to do things differently, nothing more boring than footage taken from 100M up of some fields, I try to get close to the subject, add some footage from a cycle camera or fixed to my car or a timelapse, maybe try a Tilt Shift effect.

Huddersfield at Christmas
Huddersfield at Christmas, Getting up at 5am is worth it for all my many fans, both of them.
What can you say about St. George's Square? It was 6am on a Monday morning so the early commuters would no doubt be cheered up by the beautiful Christmas lights and the impending arrival of the holidays.
'O Holy Night' is the song in the video, apparently voted the UK's favourite Hymn, so beautiful.
Please Like and Subscribe as it helps with the algorithm(so they all say).

Holmfirth: Last of the Summer Wine, Then and Now

Last of the Summer Wine ran from 1973-2010 making it the longest lasting tv comedy in the world. It was filmed in various locations, but was based in Holmfirth, where the homes of many of the characters were. In this video I've aimed to include scenes of the most commonly used locations, I will include more in my next video, any suggestions are most welcome. Please like and subscribe/share, thi...

I've been told that the description is the most important part of videos that you post , more so than tags, so.... A Drone flight through Milnsbridge, Huddersfield in the great county of Yorkshire, on one of the increasingly rare snow days that we get these days. A plethora of Trains, we all love a train, looking at them anyway. A Barge on the canal looks cosy atop the freezing cold water of th...

Quite a time consuming endeavour, 1 Battery = 15 seconds footage, hope it's worth it! Huddersfield Town Centre in West Yorkshire, A Hyperlapse using a dji Mini 3 Pro and occasionally the osmo action 4 camera, Castle Hill and Emley Moor Mast look rather beautiful with the fast moving clouds, Sadly struggled to stabilise the castle so it's a little bit jittery.

Standedge Tunnel, Diggle Portal to Ashton Under Lyne. Only took 11 months to knock up part 2. Last year I made a video of the Yorkshire half of Huddersfield Narrow Canal using my Dji Mini 3 Pro and My Dji Action 4 Camera. The video starts in Diggle which is the Greater Manchester side of the Standedge Tunnel, it ends in Ashton Under Lyne, with a brief tour of it, not brief enough! The route tak...

❤❤😊😊👍👍
There are other dams which also carry roads, the Millstone Banking being one example at Anderton in Lancashire, I have also driven atop sea defence walls in the Netherlands
How I loved this wonderful television series, and still do with the constant and most welcome repeats on Gold. I miss all the characters so much, they frequently had me in fits of laughter. Thank you so much Roy Clark.
@enderby4121 I wonder if Roy has watched my video? Ha ha. Roy Clark has brought so much pleasure to millions, how is he not knighted? Hyacinth is a Dame, Granville is a Sir..
Very good
Thank you, need to do more in foreign lands🤔

Great stuff as usual and festive too
@stevewhitwam1822 cheers Stephen, my public don't seem too bothered, most strange.
Yey
This show brings back many memories of my childhood living in Holmfirth. I have walked all of the streets, paths, and tracks those three men walked. When we moved to Meltham and then Halifax, I still worked for John Woodheads in Jackson Bridge, and the White Horse Inn was my local at lunchtime. I met all of them as they filmed the episode with the giant carrot outside our church in Crown Bottom car park. No, it wasn't the Methodist Church. There are so many memories. Thanks for posting this video.
@cwnoxid1966 thanks for watching, glad it brought back so many great memories.
Would you go back to Holmfirth ?
@oakashthorn5714 Yes, I had so many happy memories there as a child.
Beautiful scenery. Love LOTSW!
I used to shop in Holmfirth. Brilliant shop called Hobsobns Choice. Lots of tunned food cheap with no labels. Happy Memories.
@jandeguelle8910 wow that sounds a fun shop, a surprise for Tea every day, mmm dog food.
I love last of the summer wine as my dad did. A great video but the music is overpowering and is a bit of annoying tbo. 👍😂
Cheers man, for my next one I'll tone the music down, or maybe some dance tracks😂
I agree, the music grates on me. Interesting video.
@user-pb54 good lord the composer will be getting a complex, the next one will be silent-ish😉
Wow, stumbled upon this and was blown away at the sheer quality of it, tasteful and moving at the same time. Personally I think the music fits it faultlessly - in the words of Foggy - Well Done That Man (or lady!)
@Christopher-sj2sc that's nice to hear, glad you enjoyed it. Foggy knows his stuff. Definitely man, there may be lady droneists but never seen one in the wild.
Exactly my thoughts too 🙂
Stayed in Holmfirth for a week in a wee cute cottage just on edge of town it was with my partner back then late 80s I think !!!!! we are now separated sadly but I have very fond memories of Holmfirth ❤❤❤❤❤
@Silverdale15 ah well at least you have happy memories of the place. Gosh would be very different in the 80s, now you can stay in Nora's house, it's an Airbnb, I should have put that on the video!
Brilliant video but the music is a bit annoying
@samnpoppythedog4416 thanks, I've gotta say I hate the 1st piece of music, gloomy in hindsight! And the rest, I don't hate but could have chosen better, maybe I'll try something different next time, sound effects maybe..
When anyone asks me to define 'adult' comedy, I refer them to Last of the Summer Wine. Written by adults for adults, witty, dry , and clever, and above all ,funny .
Thanks for this, brings back so many memories, when life was easy, and times were good,i will take the long drive up before its my time, and go to the church to pay my respects ❤️
It really was a classic thanks for all the memories
I was in Holmfirth just 2 days ago. The snow was thicker there than here in Wakefield, and, for the first time, we went to see the graves of Bill and Peter. The church was so peaceful and the snow added to that. Lunch at The Wrinkled Stocking (Nora Batty’s house) was fantastic. (Incidentally, at the graveyard were a few plaques on a wall of people with the surname Battye - I might have the spelling wrong, sorry). I wondered if they used it because it was a local name. Good filming work! 👌
@barbarajennion6113 aww wish I'd caught it in the snow, must have looked lovely, defo worth a trip to Jackson Bridge next time, so nice, hilly. I live local and have never met a batty, I guess there must be some! Thanks, glad you enjoyed it😁
@ I will go to Jackson Bridge next time, definitely!
There's a video on here with Fred Dibnah driving his traction engine over the bridge. I lived on the A640 New Hey Rd at Mount when the motorway was being constructed, it was a continuous stream of wagons full of earth going up the road to the dam. We had a strip of garden taken away for subsequent widening of the road to form a dual carriageway.
I must find that video of Fred, watta guy. Can't even imagine how much Peat they had to remove to get to the bedrock, lorra trucks.
Great footage, beautiful scenic snowy views, my friend and relatives abroad will be very interested
@stevewhitwam1822 cheers Stephen, had to get the snow, we really don't get it very often these days. Tell your friends to Like and Subscribe😆
I knocked around the Colne Valley as a youngster growing up. Dad worked at Taylor Valves for many years as a machinist. It wasn't until I lived for a time in an earthquake prone country that I realized the benefits of having crappy, dingy towns like this completely flattened by a seven or eight magnitude 'modernizing broom' then to be rebuilt with modern pleasing architecture, wide streets to accommodate all the parked cars, and lots of green parks for the children to play in. Oh well, roll on WW3, Some of those European towns that rose from the ashes are really pretty. Really good drone handling though.
@johnvarley3964 thanks mate. Oi I live in Milnsbridge! Ha ha it has it's charms, it's right on the edge of lots of beautiful places, I can see how starting again would improve a lot, the infrastructure of Britain was built for the horse and cart, the railways followed the canal which followed the path of least resistance, bendy, not great for trains, ah well it is what it is and I will stand by, Full of character😁
@yorkshiredrone I find his commrnt saddening. Our industrial heritage snd architecture may be a bit old fashioned but it is a monument to our heritage of quality textile work. The Canal towpath is a really pleasant oasis from the village, right up to Marsden. The village was virtually dead when i was a kid, as was Holmfirth incidentally. Prior to the Summer Wine tourist revitalisation. Now in Milnsbridge there are shops and cafes. Sadly the Midlsnd Bank has gone. Which was a nice building. The building is still there though. The viaduct hoping passed Harold Wilson's old school and the recreation field still exist. Bland buildings may appeal to car users. But character is irreplaceable. In my opinion.
@davidsmith5523 absolutely David, I'll stand by the fact our infrastructure is ancient and almost not fit for purpose but I wouldn't have it any other way, Trains don't need to go 250MPH(HS2🤪) there's something beautiful about the old derelict Mills and buildings, the roads are rammed and narrow but we muddle by just fine. The Canal is amazing, whether it's through the countryside or through industrial areas, I live here and it's fine, everything you could possibly need nearby, safe, house prices are extremely modest for a nice terrace, I'm on my back doorstep on the terrace at the beginning doing my Hitchcock cameo.
@yorkshiredrone Also aspiration is fine. To improve. But one man's artwork is another man's carbuncle. Uniformity is the death of individuality. I mean old matket vs new market in town. Plus there was recently talk of DEMOLIDHING HUDDERSGIELD RAILWAY STATION. That would be horrendous in my mind.
@davidsmith5523 I think that recent talk is silly rumours, they wouldn't dare touch the station, it'd be like knocking down Victoria Tower. They almost demolished the Piece Hall in the 70s, saved by 1 council vote, gosh.
This is great
@@dovestone_ thank-you👍
Loved the ‘Brake Test’ although disappointed that the brakes worked perfectly.. was hoping for some foul language at that point.. thanks for showing the photos of the inauguration of the reservoir interesting photos of the crowds and sailing boats etc .Forgotten history no longer ‘forgotten’… not been over the M62 too many times so still get a kick out of seeing stuff and things and now have more info to bore my mate with(he will be bored/I shall be the ‘know it all’) he ‘fakes’ disinterest but once in a while is astounded by my knowledge of trivia.. this is ‘up there’ I can tell you. Keep up the good work.. (BTW I drive a 🚛💨💨💨💨 for my sins!!)
@malcolmyoung7866 Thanks for watching, and learning! There was plenty of foul language every time a pedestrian got in my way ha ha. When I started making the video I was just going to get some pretty shots of the place, but looking in to the history further I realised it was pretty interesting, how many cups of yorkshire tea? Wish I'd added a few more old pics, ah well always nice to know people can educate their friends on these fascinating topics, I really should do more history stuff, this video is really popular(small scale). Happy trucking, I'll get back to my latest epic, Last of the Summer Wine: Then and Now.
I can't imagine the hours of work it took to build all that. It is a great video of something people in Louisiana could never see. Few people in the USA even know such an extensive network of canals exist in the UK and France.
@billsimpson604 glad you enjoyed it, it really is an amazing feat of engineering for the time, the canals largely fell in to a state of disrepair, this one closed in 1944, the restoration started in 1981, opened 2001 fully.
Fantastic effort mate. I've still not got around to doing this, but this vid helps a lot for when I do.
@azy78 cheers man! Hopefully when you do it you'll cut out the boring bits, that canal goes on a bit sometimes, as does Ashton😜
Stunning video.

You even caught a train leaving the station... An all too rare event these days.

@fionadelahunty369 Scammonden Dam? Like it, must open my eyes to see them.
wonderful, the amount of times I used to pass the Dam years ago, I always wanted to know more about it, and the bridge at the top between the two hill sides just fascinates me. thanks you so much for bringing this to us.✔✔😀😀
@toucan221 thanks for watching, always nice to hear positive feedback, It does make you look again once you look into the history of the place🤯🫡
Very nice edit. A good cut you might ssy?
@davidsmith5523 Thanks😁 the music editing is somewhat harsh. Aww I missed your puns David, water treat to have em back🫡
I was hiking two days ago and went right past this farm and didn't know about this. Do you have any sources for it because I couldn't find anything about it on the internet and I'd be fascinated to find out more.
@workinprogresssince1974 I think someone on FB Marsden page said it was occupied up to the 70s, someone else said it was sold at auction a few years ago. Give me a lottery win I'll buy it, cool place. There is a pt 2 BTW, scary🤔 ua-cam.com/video/QrhoUzvlNVM/v-deo.htmlsi=4MhxTf3dVUGPqe_b
How far did you bike from Hudds and how long did it take altogether? Did you bike it back on A62? I'm thinking might get train back once in Manchester unless it's doable by bike on same day...
@azy78 it's an e-bike so I'm a bit of a fraud. I always feel like one anyway, it's still a workout, just not as much. Did different sections, but the trip to Ashton was from home. Milnsbridge, mainly canal but over the standedge for the tunnel, there and back that day I covered 40 miles but did ride round some areas, , mainly A62 on the return journey. I think Ashton is a good distance away from Manchester(6.6 miles) it has Trams though. I'd say doable as it's largely flatish, maybe 4 hours return..
Ahh that's why the video is so smooth lol. Thanks for letting me know and I'm gonna give it a shot next week on a clear day. Your vids are much appreciated as I wanted to know the intricate details of this route. I have already mastered birkby bradley greeenway to calder valley greenway to spen valley greenway and back within a day on a hybrid so I think this is also doable. Thanks again @yorkshiredrone.
@azy78 ha mainly smooth because the camera has got horizon balance switched on, pretty cool camera feature, the damn bike is so heavy it's like riding a truck that helps alot up hills, nice. Good man, glad they're useful, I'll try to get a rough version of the rest of the route knocked up in the next day or so and send a link, happy riding👌
@azy78 you inspired me to get my lazy ass moving and finish it, took so long the seasons are all mixed up. ua-cam.com/video/jNLgsJEDziw/v-deo.htmlsi=VqqwVAOyzKgse_pq
Awesome video and it's a great bike ride there in the summer. Appreciate the tidbits of history blended in.
@@azy78 cheers, always nice to hear😁
Awesome video. Can you remember from which road you re-joined the towpath at 3:07? I want to join this route with towpath from Paddock as getting to Milnsbridge means going down dodgy steep hills for me. Thanks
Spotted Excel Self Storage at 3:19 does it reconnect form Upper Brow Road?
Glad you enjoyed it, Still not finished part 2! Nearly... a quick look on the map, it's Stoney Battery Road, curious name for a road, I guess your best bet from paddock is to go via Birkhouse Lane. Enjoy😁
@@azy78I think there is a path from that road, through some trees, I think.
Thanks mate, I was banking on the trees way which branches into 3 parts, one with 70 steps leading to upper brow rd which I don't fancy carrying a bike up or down and the other 2 are narrow wet and muddy. Birkhouse leading to stoney battery is better. Really looking forward to full part 2, as I believe it leads to aston under lyne which is quite phenomenal for a path from Hudds.
@azy78 no worries, yeah I wouldn't fancy that forest😏 on a bike.It does indeed lead to lovely Ashton, cycled it, droned it, I'll edit the bugger one day, spoiler alert, they have steps on the locks over there, pain on a bike. Check out the Standege: Overground, end to end video, bridges the gap from tunnel end to end, real pretty👌
Great video, must have walked here several hundred times over the last 50+ years, is only 3 miles my house, my dad was a tipper driver in the late 60's when the dam & the motorway was being constructed, I used to go with him in the school holidays, we'd drop material of on the dam wall, wasn't so nice in winter, it's quite bleak up there, but great for fresh air & exercise 😁👍
@geetee7154 cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it, damn can only imagine what it was like all those years ago in the snow on the stormy moors, bleak and beautiful.
Kirklees have WASTED millions of pounds of "our" money and for what?..... precisely NOTHING. This Labour Council is inept, useless and corrupt, hopefully people will have the sense to GET RID when the opportunity arises. Fantastic video even though it infuriates me.
Greetings from Ohio, USA. I am fascinated with reservoirs.
@MoellerEngineeringCo. Hello America! I can see the appeal, the history, the logistics, the beauty, never again will I look at one and just think it looks pretty.
I live just down the road from the res .
The only thing that really should be knocked down is Kirklees council’s offices, they are ruining our once lovely Huddersfield town. The Pizza was always a nice part of town, clean friendly and safe and I used to shop in lots of these shops, they were always busy. Kirklees forced everybody out for their hairbrained scheme, I thought they were broke? They have literally killed Huddersfield. I remember going to see the Radio 1 Roadshow from the Piazza when I was a kid, it was packed and we managed to get access to the roof and got a birds eye view! Now there’s going to be nothing there but a grass banking no doubt attracting more drunks and drug users…
Great footage ❤Hope you weren't on a non legal vehicle on this path.. . Taught to sail here in early 80s by my dad. It's a wild beautiful place and has a place in my heart. The perimeter path wasnt complete then I believe.
@guyroebuck8510 glad you enjoyed it, lovely place, I don't know when the path round it was complete. Ebike, a fully legal one👍
Put it back to how it was in the 1960s.
What are they thinking? Can't wait for student housing to replace it 🙃
@mikehench it's going to be a regeneration... 10 year plan, damn I might not live that long! www.kirklees.gov.uk/beta/huddersfield-blueprint/key-projects/vibrant-culture.aspx
More likely houses for.......................?
Cool video i walk past this area all the time no idea it looked like this now. The photos they are pushing to say what it will look like after the development seem like a bit of wishful thinking to me
@SandwichManStudios the photos always look really perfect, I don't think they'll be far off, it's gonna be a big old space including the old multistorey car park..
The footpath was closed between Longroyd Bridge and Stoney Battery? Wonder what was happening?
I think it's still.closed, I believe they said a landslip or something.
The end of days... Well the Piazza anyway. 🫣
