      My brackets are ugly and bent now because my son backed into a tree. 🤦‍♂️ They are just a 4" "L". I welded the bracket too the frame, but bolted it to the bumper, using the stock bumper mounts.

      Thanks. Legally, it's a gray area. We actually need to replace the orbital valve with one that moves slower. The steering is too quick. Very twitchy.

      @@ReshardsAutomotiveWorkshop don't you get scared by the fact that hydraulics may fail (hope it doesn't happen). airplanes operate with hydraulics too but they have 3 independent hydraulic lines and if one fails still has 2 more to go to completely lose control. in your case, if pump's belt rips, means no steering 😰🤕

    I’m a beginner rider, so someone correct me if I’m wrong. But in this situation I can see a couple things you could have done differently - rev match and gear down to first, letting you engine brake, engine breaking does ALOT for slowing down quickly, which ties into my second point - don’t grip the clutch that early. Gripping the clutch puts the bike into neutral, so you just start coasting instead of letting your engine brake. - instead of only “getting off the throttle,” get on that rear brake. Once you got closer to the truck and realized he’s just dead in the water in the lane rear brake + front brake at the same time with a gentle but firm grip. The extra 4-5 seconds you lose from slowing down a sizeable amount vs not (given the truck had instantly merged instead of that fuckfest maneuver he did) is in my opinion never worth it Ride safe 🙂

    • @ReshardsAutomotiveWorkshop
      @ReshardsAutomotiveWorkshop 3 місяці тому

      Yep. That's why I put the red "X" on my hand when I grabbed the clutch. I did use rear brake. I almost always use rear brake. I can't imagine why people don't use the rear brake. It helps in almost all situations. Also, bikes like mine do not require rev matching. They have a quick shifter and auto blip down.

    Why did you run the front upper joints vertical instead of horizontal? Wont that cause binding even with the johnny joints?

    • @ReshardsAutomotiveWorkshop
      @ReshardsAutomotiveWorkshop 6 місяців тому

      Thank you for watching! It is much easier to run them this way because I don't have to figure out the angles. With them like this, so long as the axle is centered, the angles will find themselves. It's true that I will lose some flex, but with flex joints on each side, it will still flex a ton.

    I'll admit I really enjoyed this video all together. I feel fortunate to stumble across it because I'm wanting to save a 75 3+3 camper special but converting to 4x4 is a must. I have a pass drop divorced np205 in a local farmers D.I.Y. 4x4 "highboy" ranger crew in the frame he abandoned with input shaft to np245 4spd. My 75 3+3 has no train in it rn and I want to use cheap "excess junk" here in the barn yard before committing to the "12v/nv4500" or "lbz" which I'm hoping will make all the effort to save the truck worth it in the long run.

    Had this problem after running my sbc 350 for 2 days with 2 plugs bad cracked ceramic misfiring and an over rich carb. Idle speed was set nice and low but so much unburnt fuel got into the oil that it would diesel away for a good couple seconds after I swapped plugs, could even rev it a bit, sounded terrible. Oil changed fixed it, but I still put a new holley in place of the carter carb just to be sure lol. I love this video, the struggle is real lol

    Spark plug doesn't do anything when you shut one of these off. The motor turns, the fuel pump is mechanical, and turns when the engine turns so it keeps pumping fuel up the lines, and the intake valve opens and lets the gas in, and it hits those hot burning carbon deposits, which acts like a glow plug until it burns out. You must have a lot of carbon on those cylinders.
