I had to replace the main pressure line from the pump to the valve body and it was a pain. Dropped all the covers on the bottom to find it and had to be a contortionist to get the 4 bolts clamping down one end. There are a lot of hoses down under there and of course they all get in the way.

I believe the correct name for those is a code 61 or 62 flange seal. Looks more like a 62, that flange looks thick.

Do you have or can make a video on the best ways to get started in becoming a diesel mechanic? I want to change careers and have 3 kids and a wife, so I don't have time to go to a school but I'm a very hands-on mechanical type of person that has already worked in the construction field for over a long time. I have searched online for diesel mechanic apprenticeships in my area but have not been lucky to find any. So, IDK if it's just not something that is advertised a lot or what. Please link me a video you have made or please make a video about this topic thank you so much, I love your content.

Open the fill cap on the hydraulic tank for pressure release to the system

I always open the fill cap, turn the key on but don’t start it, and cycle all the hydraulic functions before cracking any line loose. Obviously with a blown hose there isn’t any pressure to begin with, but you can never be too careful. I’m a field tech for a Cat dealer. Nice job on the repair.

I was lucky to retire just a year after zero tail swing excavators came out.Those things are a freakin pain.

Great video and thanks for sharing. Three questions… 1. What was the cost for parts and sending the filters to get cleaned? What did you charge the customer for labor? 2. Why is it necessary to swap an entire one box instead of doing what you just did? I guess what would be the most common reason to swap the entire one box. I hear that it can cost anywhere between 13k-16k for a complete swap these days?

Do you ever fill the filter housing with fuel before you put the filter back in? I’m a diesel tech also but haven’t done it in years, but I recall filling them up then priming

I’m starting as a diesel mechanic apprentice in 2 weeks after 18 years of doing bodywork. I’m doing it because I want to and because I want to learn as much as I can before I die. I love diesel trucks, so why shouldn’t I learn everything there is to know. It’s going to be humbling going from the go to do everything guy to a beginner and a low man on the totem pole. I’m also working on a career as a pilot at the same time (halfway there). I’m doing it because I want my son to see that you can do anything you want. I’m learning how little chasing money gets you in terms of enjoying life. Your channel and attitude is a good inspiration. Life is a fuckin journey not a destination. Enjoy the ride and make it a good one! You only get one shot!
