Terrible take. Do you want Woodson to kick him off of the team? Ballo IS being punished (didn’t play in the last game), and I’m sure he will be running for days and days. He is not the only high major basketball player to be in a bar or break team rules. Does Woody need to check with you on his team decisions? How did you get this job? Ballo should have a double double every game. I think Coach Knight would suspend him or just kicked him off the team for his stunt the night before the game.

While I have some issues with aspects of Woodson's coaching, I think you're overreacting somewhat. I tuned in thinking it must be some heinous criminal activity, only to find out it's due to a picture of a 22 yr old Ballo in a bar- which is not an illegal act. Not even sure he was actually drinking, but if he was at 22 there is no "huge scandal" here. There should be team disciplinary measures, but nothing for the NCAA (or even fans) to get involved in. He's already missed 1 game, and will likely miss at least a couple more, but as a 70 yr old nearly 60 yr IU hoops fan I'd say you're overreacting. There have been more than 1 IU player over the years arrested for actually breaking laws (using fake ID to access a bar illegally, various traffic offenses, using "illegal" substances), so I'm not sure Ballo's "offense" is that serious. You may be aware of the players RMK kicked off the team in Alaska for weed. But you probably don't know that one of those players (Jim Roberson) was not a first time "offender". In fact I knew personally of times the previous year (and possibly earlier)where Roberson had gotten high with me and other guys on my dorm floor. And from talking to him he seemed to feel that RMK knew that he (and others) got high, and was willing to let it slide as long as they were discreet. Of course a few years later when I was living in Germany and heard about the problems on a team trip to Alaska I'd say that was the opposite of keeping things "discreet"...

This chat is amusing, people seem to look for any reason to manufacture hatred for Mike Woodson. Crean and Miller left the program in disgrace but Woodson seems to get more vitriol by far than those two, I wonder why. And what is to come of Ballo, let’s suspend him the rest of the season for being seen in a bar the night before a game. It does show bad judgment but it’s a misdemeanor at best, is he 21, did he have a fake ID, did he assault someone in the restroom. If the answer to those questions are no stop your pearl clutching, this happens at major programs all the time. You think Kansas, Duke, Kentucky, and other blue bloods are clean and pure as the driven snow, grow up and stop living in the 60’s.

Come on Jacob, your criticism is absolutely over the top on Mike woodson. Every coach that has been at IU has off the court problems with key IU basketball players more severe than ballos. You are just piling on because your expectations on the basketball program don't line up with desired results. Why don't you do a little home work before bashing this IU basketball program. 1981 championship team was blown out soundly by several preseason teams. 1986 team most talented team ever at IU totally beaten on early season games by unranked teams. If IU makes the NCAA tournament woodson will be retained.

Someone better keep an eye on these kids tonight! Might not have enough to play Rutgers Thursday.. lol

Class of 2012 grad here. I watched some of the worst IU basketball in history. I refuse to watch this team.

NIL has killed college sports. So many people trying to cash in on athletes, I don’t blame the athletes, but college sports is getting hard to watch.

How is a coach declining to comment on a disciplinary action a "terrible look?" It seems to me an exception rather than the rule when a coach elaborates on a player breaking team rules. There's a lot of frustration over this team, but spare me the outrage over this particular incident.

If Ballo gets paid in increments, maybe they need to challenge this NIL crap by withholding payment for his failure to live up to his contract. They can’t have it both ways in the “business “ world.

I supported Woodson this last few years, but it’s glaring now that he just isn’t going to be able to run a good program. He is the reason we lost the opportunity with all those HS players. They could see he would not be a good coach to play for…I hope Bruce Pearl wants to still come here. Important thing is to create a culture of discipline, seriousness, and a desire to truly win.
