Follow along as I travel in classic air-cooled vehicles around the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The plane is a 1952 TriPacer (The Mighty Tri), the VW's are a 1964 VW Camper Bus (Fillmore), 1964 VW bug (Unnamed). I hope to share videos and take you along enjoying these classic rides and creating friendships along the way. Let me know if there is something specific you would like to see. Come join the fun and as always that's for watching.
Ag Pilots Spot Landing Contest & Fly-by

Excellent job on that bus. He put A LOT of work into that thing. Dude, turn your phone on its side next time.
Yes sir. Beautiful. Awesome 👌
Got the same plane in our barn
That's cool would love to know more about it. Message me via FB if you can. Thanks
@@GlennWhitcomb I've never used Facebook so hopefully I done it right,I sent a couple pictures through messenger
@@hairlessharescrambler56 Sorry for the delay I responded.
Hey Glenn, I just purchased a Tripacer, do you feel a lot heat off the firewall, do you know of any insulation I can add at my feet?
Congratulations what's the tailnumber? Where are you located? I'm on Shortwingpiperclub on FB an help support that organization. I haven't noticed too much heat however your muffler is right there. I have a quilted looking blanket on my FW. Do you have one? Can hit me up on Facebook as well.
Lowlight patina is not for everyone. I like the door mirror.
Incredibly cool airplane
Good climb assuming you have a 0320 in that sweet ride. I would have landed on that 15' wide runway. Did not look like tall trees around it. Playing it safe does not require explanations though, Hard to beat the PA22 for short field landing. The power will let you hand on to the air until you decide to put the main wheels down where you want them.
I have an 0290-D2 135hp in this plane. It does well but you have to fly in it's limits and be very mindful of DA.
Any thoughts on what you do about no stall warning or horn? Do you know if there is a stc for that?
I don't I have a visual AOA off of my Av30 as well as many hours in the aircraft. This plane doesn't like to stall I have to really horse it into a stall which is a nice safety feature. Check shortwingpipers on FB or the web page many good experts can answer your question.
Thanks for the good memories. Had a 1951 PA22-125 Then a 1957 PA22-150. Sure miss flying. Wife died in 06 not flown sense.
You are certainly welcome and I'm glad you enjoy it. My condolences on your wife's passing. Where about are you located? I'm sure we could find you a ride should you have the desire to get back in the air again. Thanks for following along
Well when are we taking a trip
Well this plane would be the the Porsche compared to mine ;) LOL It moves, it's a friend of mine. It was fun to fly.
I grew up at that airport, good memories
It's a good one for sure.
I saw the landing at S95. The wig wags were impressive.
That plane performs amazing. We left KRLD and was in the air way before the 1000' marks at about 1500fpm. He's a heck of a good pilot. Fun day glad we got to see you there.
Thats absolutely beautiful
This bus was incredible.
As a Cessna guy, I am dumbfounded as to what that ceiling window crank handle is used for. Does the plane fly so slow one can roll down the windshield? Kidding of course! I am curious though!
Trim control. Turn left for up and right for down
@@flywiseman Thank you very much for the info. Very much appreciated. I must say, easier to get to as opposed to the trim wheel on the floor style. Very cool!
@@ricklord7144 Definitely easier to reach but it takes folks a little getting used to.
🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤩🤩🤩🤩♥️♥️♥️
Was the Chevy corvair modeled around this car?
That I do not know however, they are often times confused. I have been bit by that as well.
Where is yours?
I had my Tukis bus in front of the Aaron's bug. Was trying to give love to the rest of the group.
Very nice
Super clean for sure
Gorgeous car!!!
100% agree. Both cars are beautiful with matching owners. :) Great people for sure.
The coolest Ride
100% Agree Mikey. It's amazing
Fantastix!
Many thanks!
Spend $100k and you'll have a nice $25k Karman Gina.
True but I like the survivor look and the Porsche engine was a nice touch. It's not for the faint of heart and or everyone's cup of tea but it was cool
Almost unique forsure
Nice.
Thanks!
Agreed!
Dope
Completely Agree
Sounds nice❤
Thank you
Ba@@ Bus .. looking forward to seeing what you are going to do. 😊
You and me both!
I can't tell what this VW VAN is going to look now. But! I know it going look like a miracle restoration. 😮wow!
Your airplane is still my wallpaper on my computer. Hope to see you at the SWPC annual convention this summer in Oregon
Jim that makes me smile. Thank you and yes I hope to be there with the Tri barring any issues. Look forward to meeting you, what plane will you be bringing?
@GlennWhitcomb the only flyable aircraft I have right now is the red and white one. Really looking forward to seeing you!
@@GlennWhitcomband if your airplane ever goes missing, you should begin your search down here in Texas at 52F 😂😂😂
@@jimkirkendall2483 That's awesome and it could turn itself into a Red and White one ;)
@@jimkirkendall2483 Just a few months I have to short cycle my annual to make sure I'm there but I plan on it.
That thing sounds awesome 🔥
It's a beast for sure.
Thinking of buying a tripacer, If you ever make it down to Los Angeles I’d love to see yours in person
Sounds good, you can contact me off of Shortwing Piper Club or look me up on FB. I'd be happy to answer any questions. This one was restored in '03 won Grand Champion in '06 at the SWP Convention.
Good to see your lovely tripacer again!
Well done
Thanks
Another good set of memories from that event, thanks, Glenn!
Thanks James....Did you see what could be considered the fastest Ercoupe departure ever recorded? :) LOL
We certainly did! Enjoyed the whole thing! Really nice to see 805 on video that I didn't take, so thank you.
Those are some sweet planes and great pictures. It's nice seeing the variety out there. Thanks for sharing! 👍
You're welcome glad you like it.
Looks like a great weekend, lots of fun. The AV30’s are a terrific instrument for the price. A whole lot cheaper then paying for the name “Garmin”.
What do you have your AVs in? I have not been totally happy with them but not running the external magnetometer which I think could help my precession but overall not bad. The GI275's weren't out when I bought my AVs.
@GlennWhitcomb 1957 Cessna 172 with the DG attached to a gps. No magnetometer either but am considering adding one as well.
@@turninmonyin2noise978 I think that will help keep it solid. I don't have room to add a GPS but would like to set the plane up for IFR approaches.
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
That was a fun weekend Glenn. Great video and I love wing camera POV.
Thanks great seeing you there glad you made the trip down. It's an amazing place. I often tell people it's my happiest place on earth ;) LOL
Enjoyed this episode, even with those pesky GoPro's!
Thanks James, one of these days I'm going to figure out those GoPro's. I will be doing the happy dance once I do.. :)
Nice wheelie!
On center ;) LOL
The previous year I was in that empty seat. Thanks for the memories.
Yes SIr! Missed you this year looking forward to us flying more this year together.
I live in NW MT with a 1951 Tripacer. Hoping to attend next year. Thanks for the great videos.😊
Thank you. You aren't too far away if you get over to any events please let me know I'm always interested in meeting up with other short-wing owners. Look forward to meeting you.
Great video. Always enjoy them.
Thank you
That would make me nervous but they sure started easily.
The plane was amazing and yes those engines lit right off with little effort. It helps having someone know what to do as well when it comes to hand propping a plane.
What a lovely old lady! Talk about easy starting, incredible! Unless the cantankerous starts have ended up on the cutting room floor floor! Doubtful! Lovely aeroplane!
It started that easy and the sound of all three was cool. The video doesn't always capture how cool it really is.
Excellent Short Video
Love the cockpit!
Reminds me of the scene in Battle of the Bulge. When they cut the engine at 500ft in the clouds to listen for German tanks. I love simple planes 🥳
100% in agreement there. Simplicity and flying outside the aircraft. Super cool for sure. I am looking forward to flying my cub, not quite as simple as this but darn close.
That is so cool
Wow ! What a great video/event... I'll try to bring the NAvion next year...
Please do, where do you fly out of? I definitely have a thing for them. Great birds.
I'm at L00, far the other side of James.... Thanks !@@GlennWhitcomb
Beauty plane and sound thanks @Glenn 👍
Thank you and yes the plane is a thing of beauty. Seeing it fly off the water is incredible. I'm hoping to get some shots of it this summer. Thanks again for the kind words.
