My name is Sarah Struble. I'm currently a "fifth year" medical student finishing up a research year in Philadelphia. I didn't match into residency the first time I applied, but didn't let that stop me. After deciding to pursue a research year, I reapplied and successfully matched the second time around. I started this channel to share the highs and lows of medical school -- and now residency (!!!)
I hope my story inspires others to keep moving forward. Don't give up!

I MATCHED INTO RESIDENCY - Match 2024 as a Reapplicant (Full Reaction)
Last year, I went through the residency application cycle and didn't match. But I didn't let that be the end of my journey! I decided to take a research year and reapply. Watch me open my match 2024 letter to see if my hard work payed off!
In this video, I go through some of the changes I made to my application and strategies I used to successfully match as a reapplicant. I'll be posting another video soon to get into more details - subscribe to my channel so you don't miss it!

Welcome to my first UA-cam video! Here, I'll be answering some of the questions that you guys left on my Instagram story such as: Do you have free time in medical school? How much do you study per day? How do you stay motivated to study? What is the process for becoming a doctor? What major should you choose in college? General advice for aspiring med students If I didn't answer your question, ...
Congratulations!!! you are such an inspiration, Looking forward to see your journey I hope you will keep posting, and Inspire and guide many more medical students.!!! best of Luck!!!🌷🌷🌷
Does she update us on where she ended up matching??
Can you do a video of everything you did to beef up your application? Pls <3
Inspirational! So happy for you!
Look at you know. You did it. You’re going to start your internship/first year residency as a plastic surgeon… The medical path is so hard… so hard. I’m just a junior in hs with dreams to become a doctor, but growing up around books that my parents killed themselves trying to absorb and my mom having mental breakdowns on her results and studies, she/and my dad both made it to be very successful doctors ❤ I know you are gonna be one too. The fact that you pushed yourself sm this past year to get matched into residency shows true potential and endurance. So proud of you and all of your hard work ❤ don’t think down on yourself with your failures… my relative is a famous surgeon and they had downs in their medical field. 😅 Great job Doctor!!!❤
Congrats!!! People deal with failing as them not being “good enough” or all that BS. My mother is a successful board certified pathologist but failed a major exam TWICE!!! She studied every 6 months harder and even harder till she fortunately passed on her third time! YOU MADE IT!!!! ❤❤❤😊so proud of you Dr. Struble 😊
Congratulations! Was heartbroken for you last year, but was rooting for you!! (Also, didn’t like some of the negative comments on your last video, but the internet can be a scary/crazy place.) I can tell how hard you worked from the video. You deserve nothing less! Hope you bring all you have learned to your future patients.
your mom's reaction was priceless🥲❤
Congratulations girly 🎉🎉🎉🎉
13:01 for reaction
Which specialty ?
Same question here
She matched into a categorical plastic surgery residency I believe. In other words she’ll be spending her entire graduate medical education in one location until her fellowship (postgraduate medical education)
How is a “job” not paid?
Congrats!! 🎉 I always wanted to be a doctor but can’t do chemistry for anything!!! I to just had a set back in my Finance/Business program. I failed fantastically my Economics courses (Micro/Macro) which were taught by an MIT/Cambridge University educated prof and after week 3 of his courses, I sat there with a blank stare all term wondering WTF. 😂 The advisors were like “You can drop the honours program and go regular or repeat under the same prof and you must maintain A+ or be entirely withdrawn and go about your life”. Wishing you all the best in your medical trainings!! ⚕️
I'm not crying....
Congratulations!
Just stumbled onto you channel. I'm sitting here bawling happy tears for you as if I knew you for years lol. Congrats!
Thank you!
Not crying, nope... Damn onions...
I believe that tiny blip in the radar will make you a more compassionate and talented doctor! 🥳
OMG you did it!!!🎉 I remember your story, Sarah! You got back up again and I was amazed by your courage to share your story. I’ve never met you but am so proud of you and the example you set. YAY YOU!
Thank you!!! Means so much!♥️
Thanks for telling your story- CONGRATS
Congratulations! You did what you needed to do. Look at all you have learned this year! You go girl!
Congrats, what a great comeback story! I remember watching your video from last year so it’s awesome to see you succeed 🎉
I remember last years video. Congratulations Sarah! I’m proud of you
Congrats!!!! You worked so hard for this and you are so deserving!!!!🎉🥹
Thank you!!
Congrats
Congratulations!! Also we need to protect your mom at all costs 🤍🤍
Right!? She’s the best 😭♥️
How come people who don’t match try signing a contract with the military? I heard you can do a residency with navy, airforce and be a physician there
Congrats Dr. dont know you but Im crying tears of joy for you.....
Good for you. I failed step 1. I was so down. Flash forward 15 years later and I'm a successful emergency room doctor, enjoying life. We all have hurdles...and you will have more. But stick with your dreams....congratulations
Thank you! Proud of you, you’re an inspiration!
Why am I tearing up! Don’t even know you. Wishing you the best on the next chapter of life. 💓💓💓
Thank you♥️♥️♥️
@@sarahstrubleyou’re most welcome. You are inspiring. So many UA-camrs have inspired me to start sharing my story. I’m finishing my MSN in Nursing Education. Bracing for the inevitable tough time finding a position. It took me 10 months to find my first RN job. Sorry for dumping so much info on you.
Congratulations
CHOP is an amazing place. We've spent a lot of time there with my daughter. They have literally saved her life more than once. It's such a great place to learn. Congratulations!!!
Agreed!! And thank you♥️
So I’m confused. Why did she show two different times of finding out
The first time they only find out if they matched or not, but they don’t know where (specialty and program). The second time, that’s when they get to know into which specialty and which program they matched.
This experience is going to make you a better physician and more appreciative of every little thing. You might think why me, but this worked out for you. That year of research will help you. Congratulations on your bravery and your persistence.
Thank you!!😭♥️
As someone who failed first year of medical school and is now in the process of repeating it, I just want to say I am proud of you. It's not always easy to get back up again after being knocked down. But you did it and look at you now. 🎉 Congratulations!
Thank you!! I’m proud of you! Keep going, you got this!
We are doomed if this is the future of medicine....a doctor who cares more about herself and her selfies than her work and future patients.... Dr.narcisssism. pathetix.
CONGRATS SARAH!! Im sooo so happy for you!
Congratulations Doc. Wishing you all the success and happiness in your journey.
So happy for you! Honestly, I can't believe it! I watched and commented on your video from last year and thought the chances weren't great... But, you overcame the odds and that's incredible! :) Also, you're really beautiful
Thank you!! ♥️
Friendly tip: try not to touch your hair constantly, especially in front of attendings, colleagues, patients…. Good luck!
Congrats 🎉❤
Congratulations!!!!!🎉🎉🎉
Thank you!
Congrats
Honestly my first video from you. But anyone who doesn’t hide their lows or use their shortcomings as an alibi for failure, is someone to be reckoned with!! Thank you for being vulnerable, and sharing your unconventional path to match. As the late Steve Jobs once said; “Don't be trapped by dogma-which is living with the results of other people's thinking.”
What an incredible quote! Thank you so much. Really appreciate it!!
Congratulations Dr Struble!!!!! YOU got this!!!!!!
I am crying for you ❤❤❤congratulations!!!!!
Congratulations - I am crying happy tears for you!!!!
Hey Sarah! I’m very happy for you. I went unmatched this past year for orthopaedic surgery and your story encourages me that I will turn this around.
Don’t give up! You got this!! Can’t wait to hear about your match next year 🎉
Such an 18 yr old California girl!
I don’t know you but I cried with you 😂🥹
