Cut out the best parts!
Your immediate reaction is blue pill? Dont wanna know the truth and be controlled by corrupted society? Sry, truth do matter.
Thumbs up for Alex making a video essay on cinematic exposition
19mins ?
OMG! ... the radar operator towards the end was actor Jon Banks (most notably from 'Breaking bad' & 'better call saul') .... i never noticed it until you mentioned it! ...
Alex here: right? I love catching actors in their early roles. I don't know if we caught it, but Hank is in starship troopers, and we watched that too. We're slowly building the breaking bad cast 😆
@@CouchLore hank??? from breaking bad??? ... actor Dean Norris has been around for quite sometime. Character actor for alot of movies & shows , had various parts in a few Arnie movies, they were work out buddies during those times.
Yeah. He's one of the drill Sargents. But what Arnold Schwarzenegger movies is he in?
@ ... A small part in Total Recall , Tony , one of the bar mutants ... in T2 , a bit part as the SWAT commander towards the end of the movie , just before the computer building explods.
Very little funny about Hacksaw Ridge. The laughter makes me feel that ya'll didn't understand the serious and very deep messages of the story of Desmond Doss
Shenna here. Thumbs up to not make me watch the Saw movies… 🙈
the joke about the airplane going through the window of the terminal cost them a ton of the budget
Alex here: I'm not surprised. That shot was amazing, and done before cgi.
Why do you title this a first time reaction when one of you have seen this before? As soon as I heard that I'm typing this comment and leaving. Stop lying to people.
Saw this in the theater upon release & have seen it dozens of times. & I'm 'still' catching things I missed because the Zucker brothers have things 5 layers deep. The oil checker that falls is Jimmie Walker from TV's Good Times". Roger-Roger, Clearance Clarence & Vector Victor is "Who's on First".
Alex here: I love the who's on first sketch. I wonder if Shenna has ever seen it. 🤔
While some of the jokes of the time or culture of the film. There is enough that is pretty much universal and still holds up. The 'Saturday Night Fever' section is usually recognised, but the beach scene from 'From Here to Eternity' is not. as There is quite a lot of offensive stuff you would not get away with these days, but it is not directed at one particular cultural group, if you offend everyone, it is easier to get away with it. Moist of 'Johnny's' lines were unscripted, they just let him do whatever he came up with on the spot. Most of the actors were previously known for serious dramatic roles and play it so deadpan it's much funnier. There was a series of 'Airport' aeroplane disaster movies. This one was actually almost a scene-for-scene remake of another one of the same genre entitled 'Zero Hour'.
It was ok...but way too short ..... .you cut out way too much.
Alex here: I agree. We're new reactors, and we're learning as we go.
@@CouchLore Why?
14:05 Yes
The first movie that showed a black American President was in 1972 The Man, starring James Earl Jones.
Alex here:. I must see this movie!
@@CouchLore I personally have not seen it, but, it's James Earl Jones, so, has to be awesome.
The perks of having your own island.
😳 when a private beach isn’t enough
Other movies in the same field/range worth watching/reacting too (cross out ones you've seen/done) Naked Gun 1-3, Austin Powers 1-3, Top Secret, Hot Shots 1-2.
You missed Tropic Thunder
5 plasters?! If your gf/wife is doing unspeakable things blink your eyes 3 times quickly!
How the heck did you know that I'm me? Are you psychic or something?
Why is 'war time hammock not on my bingo card" funny? That's a really weird thing to say at such a poignant time in the film Thumbs down
The way the military units work now are nothing like they operated back in WWII. And though Doss enlisted voluntarily, a lot of those other guys didn't; they were drafted. Doss was to be sent to a medical cycle at basic training; which was also shortened to train as many infantryman as possible. The medical cycle never happened because reportedly, there was not enough bodies to justify a cycle.
Alex here: that makes so much sense. I know WWII was an insane overuse and over production of everything
G'day, this movie is not call Airplane here in Australia 🦘🇦🇺, it's called " Flying High" ✈️
bro. your leg bandages...did the cat do this to you? do you feel unsafe?
Alex here:. No. I did it to myself. I'm trans and was shaving my legs for the first time. 😅
Most violent most religious war movie.
It is a parody, but not of "Airport". Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker were doing theater comedy in Wisconsin and would gather material by turning on the VCR to record overnight, then they'd review the stupid commercials and parody them. Then one night a really bad flick from 1958 (57?) came on, they watched the whole thing and parodied *that* . ua-cam.com/video/FasDZeNAmlk/v-deo.html
An actual horror movie
Alex here: so true.
Oh, it's almost an EXACT, shot for shot parody remake of "Airport."
And dija see the end end credit scene? Worth the look.
Alex here: I saw it while editing, kicking myself for not catching it in the recording
They were doing jazz, because they were 'on instruments.' #BlinkAndYouMissIt
The difference between green screen (which was blue screen back then, iirc) and rear projection is...
Didja see what was on the shelves at the Mayo Clinic?
Ham on 2, hold the mayo 😂 Yes, love that
I have to admit that 19 minutes is too short but you did get a lot of jokes in the run time.
Alex here:. I agree. We're still new, so we're still getting comfortable with opening up. I didn't want to just have 40 minutes of us being silent.
In the 1970s, it was common for religious groups, including some described as "zealots" or fringe movements, to solicit donations in airports. One of the most notable examples was the Hare Krishna movement, whose members often approached travelers in airports to hand out literature, offer flowers, and ask for donations. This practice became so widespread that it earned the nickname "airport proselytizing" or "airport evangelism." The activities of these groups were controversial. While some people supported their right to share their beliefs, others viewed their presence as intrusive or disruptive. This led to numerous complaints and eventually prompted changes in regulations. By the late 1970s and early 1980s, many airports began enacting stricter rules or outright banning solicitation in terminals, citing safety, security, and the comfort of travelers as primary concerns. Legal challenges often ensued, leading to court rulings that balanced First Amendment rights with the need for orderly public spaces.
In the 1990's, there was talk of building a new terminal for Los Angeles. Nothing came of it, but Jay Leno once said if you took the airlines out of LAX, it would become a Hare Krishna temple with escalators.
11:04 re'inflatio
13:35 Otto just wants to cuddle... maybe?
I just wanted to say, good luck, we're all counting on you.
George Zipp said that?
Did anyone notice that whenever they showed the plane, or you heard in the engines of the plane, they were propellers instead of jets? The movie Airplane was a parody of the old movie Zero Hour with some Airport mixed in. Here's a side by side comparison: ua-cam.com/video/8-v2BHNBVCs/v-deo.html
Yes, noticed the prop plane sound.
Most people miss that Johnathan Banks AKA Mike from Breaking Bad is in this. I think it's because he is so young people just do not recognize him.
Can you explain more about the Airport movie, I don't know the reference. Great video.
Alex Here: I was wrong. I thought this movie was a parody of the airport movies, but it's actually a parody of the movie "Zero Hour". Some of the other commenters let me know.
Ambulances from the 80s were the same as in Cannonball Run.
Alex Here: I haven't seen Cannonball Run. I should probably add that to the list.
You made me watch the Matrix as a comedy for the first time)
also please dont listen to the tools telling you this is a bad reaction ive seen reactions 100 times worse idk who pissed in their cereal
contrary to popular belief the helmets are not actually supposed to protect you from bullets, bullets bouncing off them does happen but its rare and requires a specific angle when the bullet hits. they are really just meant to protect you from falling debris and shrapnel from grenades
This is 80's not 70's
Alex Here: before I say anything. I need you to know, I'm arguing as a joke. You're right, it came out in 1980. HOWEVER! Principal photography began on June 20, 1979, and wrapped on August 31. THE 70'S!!! 😀
Also by them: Kentucky Fried Movie Top Secret ! The Naked Gun 1,2,3 Hot Shots 1,2 BASEketball Rat Race Are you each familiar with Kung Fu Hustle ?
@12:30 “How bout Buddhism ?” is the judo master that taught ronda rousey.
Alex Here: Wait, what? really?
@ Yeah. Grappling legend Judo Gene Lebell. He does stunts in about 200 movies from The Jerk to Rush Hour. Zucker uses him again in Rat Race. He’s also in top comedy Beerfest (the second movie made by the Super Troopers guys) The woman trying to put on makeup is the Zucker’s mother and appears in all their movies.
Every character plays their role completely straight, with the notable exception of Johnny, and yes that's meant to be a joke too.

Another reactor who misses the after credit scene lol This film is a direct parody of Zero Hour, and even uses much of the original dialogue
Another pointless comment about reactors missing the end credit scene in "Airplane!"
Another reactor who misses the after credit scene lol
Alex here: I'm kicking myself over it. I found it while editing.
Post Traumatic Ethel Merman Disorder is a terrible problem which affects one in every… well, just Lt. Hurwitz really. To be honest, it was kind of a boon, as he was able to move on to a great career in entertainment. Hmm, maybe it’s not such a terrible problem.
You'll be great.... You'll be swell....
Another movie the two of you might like in this style is "Transylvania Twist, 1989" which spoofs horror, sci-fi, and even TV shows, {may or may not be on youtube, which I cannot confirm or deny}. It's got a lot of these puns, and sight gags, literal representations of ideas, in it. It and the movie "Clue" where some of my favorites for their rapid fire comedy style. I love the soundtrack because I used to love the Castlevania video games, the songs are also pretty good.
Alex Here: is Transylvania twist a 1989 movie? Or is that just the title?
@@CouchLore Yeah, the movie is from 1989,.But here is also the 1960's song, if you search just the title, you end up with hundreds of links to the song.
See also: Transylvania 6-5000
@@dupersuper1938 Interestingly an actor from "Transylvania 6-5000", Ed Begley Jr. also stared in a TV show pilot with Steve Altman from "Transylvania Twist" called "Chameleon", where Altman played a wacky genie type computer NPC game character that comes into the real world, and makes strange things happen. Ed played the game programmer that accidently brought his creation into the real world. It was cheesy fun, and I think, Altman even had the pilot/demo on his Vimeo for a while. Back then in the 1980's Altman had various comedy song released. His most famous was "Purple Reindeer" a parody of Prince's "Purple Rain", one of my favorites is a song called "No, no, no, no" a track with background music of "The Runaways" song "Scars". He even wrote his own musical based on H.G. Well's Time Machine, and released two albums. He still preforms music and even preformed the voice of the main dog character in the "Doggone" trilogy of movies also by Jim Wynorski.
@@TearyEyesAndersonReacts Ed Begley Jr was also in Star Trek Voyager witch later starred Jeri Ryan who was in Boston Legal with William Shatner who was in Better Late than Never with Henry Winkler who was in Happy Days with Pat Morita who was in Karate Kid with Elizabeth Shue who was in Hollow Man with...Kevin Bacon!
