Orthopedics vs. Medicine
THIS VIDEO WAS RE-UPLOADED FROM MY OLD GOOGLE ACCOUNT.
I am the original creator of this video. I hadn't checked the video in many years and JUST discovered that it got over 300k views on my original Google account, and was even posted on Reddit and Facebook during COVID to provide some poor overworked residents with some humor! I am now putting it on my active channel where I am making content. I hope you enjoy!

    You said "must stay sober for 6 months before he can be put on the list" .. my question is the definition of sober.. is that a measureable amount? if so what is it? he wasnt drunk or excessed he could still driv, operate heavy machinery, etc .. Not saying he was really negligent in drinking the champagne but i still find it rather arbitrary. Alcholoics dont have one drink, they have 20. I would know. It wasnt a fall of the wagon moment, it wasnt malicious .. im torn

      I've been induced with phenobarbital once to stop my delerium tremens a few years back when I went into full blown DT in the ER. They overloaded me with so many benzos and barbituates that they had to actually administer an antidote to dial it back after my breathing labored too hard.

    I didn't like the way Claire compromised informed consent by writing a check with her mouth that her body wasn't sure it could cash but people do make those mistakes when they're learning.

    Yes medicine is still sexist against female patients as well. Studies still show women are more likely to be told their physical symptoms are anxiety and stress and less tests are likely to be run on them. As well I just read about a study that female patients die significantly more often with male doctors than female doctors, and they don't yet know why that is.

    • @123theSoldier
      @123theSoldier Місяць тому

      Uneducated thought here. Could it possibly be due to lack of information the medical books have about the female body? As in most drugs and experiments were done on males because they had less irregularity in their hormones that would hinder the early tests. And therefore now we have a ot of medical info for males but aren’t 100% compatible when it comes to females. Don’t quote me, just read someting like that randomly one day. Could be wrong idk but it does make sense onto why they did it like that.

    I love the library reading is my favorite thing to do if I'm board I'm a old soul 23yrs old and I read or go on UA-cam and I love this show especially because of the drama and the couples I'm on season 12 episode 20 almost season 13 and I can't stand the medical show scrubs and house of course house is better but still Grey's anatomy beats them both by a lot I understand the characters and sympathy's for them I can't do that with house or especially scrubs

    Here in Greece, we make 5.5 euros an hour, and are overworked to the point that a double shift per week is the standard, usually more. Hence why I'm looking to work abroad

  • @BloggerMusicMan
    @BloggerMusicMan 2 роки тому

    I'm autistic, and I largely agree with your analysis of the show. The thing that really separates this show from others is Freddie Highmore's acting and the show's depiction of autism. It's not totally accurate of course, no drama ever could be. But it's very sensitive and gets certain parts of what it is like correct.

    Why do doctors work so long shifts? Is it because hospitals don't have enough staff or is too cheap to hire more, or is there something else? Because working that much should be against human rights in my opinion.

    • @JaggerG

      My guess is it’s really hard and takes forever to become a doctor, not many are cut out for the job, and every human being is a patient. I haven’t looked at any numbers, but that’s my guess. Hopefully hospital series like Scrubs are inspiring enough youth to go into the field.

    "Nurses are not underpaid" Here's the issue. Everyone you think is a nurse is actually a nurses assistant. My hospital pays NAs 9 dollar an hour. The hospital has one actual nurse per floor. It's cheaper this way.

    That's so sad about your alcoholic patient. I don't treat humans (I'm a veterinarian) but I've had so many patients whose owners loved them to death with food. At some point, after gently, then sternly, telling owners the risk, I just accept I can't change it. Also, my dad smoked even as he was dying of COPD.

I have no actual point 😂 Dig the channel 👌 Nice to see critical candid observations upon this show... I will yell involuntarily at any of your channel's "Haters" 👌 So far there are only 2 🤔 They been formally warned... Glad you took the "Mystery Science Theater" approach 👌 Taking the time to actually watch the entire episode 👌 Clap clap 👏
