Flipside. Everyone in the US - raise their hands if they were forced to wait 18 hours while having a heart attack in a hallway not yet even admitted to the hospital. Everyone in the US - raise your hands if they were forced to have a leg amputated because the wound specialist post operative doctor was unable to provide any service for 8 days. Everyone in the US - raise your hand if you were forced to wait 2 years for cancer surgery. Yeah - if that happened in the US those evil corporations you speak of would be sued into bankruptcy. But just go and look at what it looks like in countries with socialized health care. Just so you know - in those countries, all the wealthy have private doctors and hospitals. Oh, by the way, all those surgeons - raise your hand if your income is in the top 1-5% of all wage earners in the US. Pretty much all of them (go google 2024 statistica chart on surgeon wages by specialty). So sorry for you.

There is a lot of truth to your comment. A lot of good mixed in with a lot of bad. Cost/ quality/ access: Every society has to compromise on at least one of these parameters. This is an insurmountable problem, in my opinion. Something has to give. Thank you for your feedback, appreciate it.

I thought about and was very very close to going back to school to become a therapist a few years back but learned just how many therapists have to find work at these private equity managed clinics, if you can't go into practice on your own. Once I realized I would end up being a cog in the wheel of private equity, I cancelled my plans altogether. Very few are lucky enough and work super hard to build a clientele in ones own private practice. I also learned that therapists are quitting in droves due to this structure of; get more done faster and more efficiently while sacrificing quality.

Yes, the physical therapists are dealing with the same type of problems that the doctors/ nurses have been complaining about. This transformation is happening over the entire spectrum of 'healthcare.'

This is a managed collapse of 70 percent of the population, as the top 5 percent, the private equity managers, and corporate America strip away every last bit of wealth, and dumping the debt on future generations.

This video was so refreshing. I am a payer for self-funded employers and have fought the system so many times over the past 25 years. I've talked to many physicians that will not "say out loud" what you have said here. In general, the American system is purely profits before patients - BY FAR! We all know that our government isn't going to help because they are bought and paid for by the healthcare corporations. I fight hospitals EVERY DAY on behalf of my clients.

@@SpineSurgeonSpeaks no - THANK YOU! You took the words right out my head. This entire system is about control and profit. It's built to be complex and it's built to maximize profit at patients' expense. We just closed out 2024 and my TPA clients got decreases in payments and their average per employee cost was right at $6000 for the year (compared to over $16K national average) because we teach the employees just what you are talking about and how to use the insurance and not be controlled. We also don't participate with PPO's. "Discounts" are smoke and mirrors. I don't want any more clients for my TPA - LOL - I don't. That's not what this is about - it's about exposing the system for what it is.

Your videos are so informative and easy to understand, thank you. I am on lifelong warfarin for APS :( Are endoscopic MD considered minimally invasive and would surgeons perform them on APS patients? Do they carry the same clotting and bleeding risks opposed to an open surgery like a lumbar fusion? Could MD be performed without a fusion, despite spinal instability, under these types of circumstances?

My first surgeon said I needed a disk replacement. My 2nd surgeon said it would have made my condition worse because the greater movement would have caused my bone spurs to compress my chord further. He recommended an ADCF. He said he would remove the spurs using ultrasonic equipment, rebuild the area with cadaver bone and fuse the C5 C6, which aready doesnt have much movement in that part of the spine. The second doctor did a CT scan and movement xrays so he could see how much my canal narrowed, (the canal was <4). I do have some numbness in my hands, some abnormal reflex responses, and the spinal chord shows some discoloration at the point where it is being compressed.

My providers have been CNPs. Some were cash only. Best care. I do not have any health issues, and the CNPs have been more personal and more time spent with me. I tried to get an MD PCP under my insurance, and it was terrible. But, we pay so much for this insurance, and ultimately we wonder if it will even work out in an emergency.

these are issues i am facing where i cant get drs to believe me, I wanted to share a few things I am dealing with. First, I have been seen by 7 different drs that i feel refuse to believe my symptoms that i noticed around 3/2024 which other issues, mentally and physically that exist and have for many years but : 1; I have a huge knot on my neck (that drs have not seen nor felt after i asked them to) and if I turn my neck i feel an electric shock and my right shoulder blade has a stabbing pain that has become more often than just occasional. 2; tingling burning like body is asleep down whole backside and in certain places into front. 3; my gait is off and falling has become natural. 4; I used to type 80-90 wm now back to pecking and my beautiful handwriting is now like my kids when they were learning how to write scripts. 5; no more of picking up lose change quickly or trying to get dressed in a hurry, buttoning, tying anything takes about 5 minutes each, so it’s pull over or make sure someone is there to help. 6; bladder and bowel issues. won't go into detail. 7; My feeling sensation has diminished quite a bit in my feet up to almost my knees, fingers now reaching up into my arms to elbows.8; A few other small things. But it is almost 1 year later, and I just had MRI that shows my cord is only at 7mm and is over half compressed but I still had to plead for it, so I finally get to see a neurosurgeon that has put me off due to lack of 1800 dollars. I am single 52 and have been out of work since 2/2023 for symptoms that are possibly related and have no resources, but I do have insurance that would pay them all but that. I am at a loss for what to do. So, guess they are going to let me be paralyzed or dead by the time I can come up with that much. The others are medically diagnosed are severe depression/anxiety, PTSD, severe, debilitating, arthritis in knees, back, thumbs and shoulders which limit many things I do or try to do. any suggestions.

Thanks for your sincere honesty and facts. I have experienced 3 lower spinal surgeries. The first 2 were laser for arthristis spurs, canal opening and disks repair. Unfortunatly those did not last more than 3 months due to my returning to leavy labor employmenet at 6 weeks after surgeries. The last was a 5 1/2 hr. Lamenectomy which the surgeon complained of over 4 hours in attempting to open the canal. My surgeon was no longer employed with the medical firm immediatly after my surgery. This left me with a butchered back, gaping cavity and advosed by all to "Never fall down", with the pain chronic pain continute to the point of puking, clammy cold spells, with 10+ pain level 24-7. My bone density is unable to support any screws or fusions. I now have an Abbot Spinal Stimulator unit that helps ominously and improves my life. I was advised by multiple doctors that I am no longer a candidate for any back surgeries. I am 75 now and continue to live a very active life style, constantly being physically envolved and working every day. After standing or bendind in specefic positions the pain is back to about #8. I am the topic of your mentioned Laminectomy for L4-5 failed surgery, plus the spinal stenosis and canal closing again. I am not overweight, do not drink or smoke and eat very healthy, nver having complications after other surgeries. A day without pain for me is scary, like I am deceased. I have met other surgeons after that I wish would have done my procedure, even if there were complications.

I have degenerative disc decease in my neck and lower spine, mostly, with bone spurs and arthritis all through my back and SI joint shifted. All this because of a drunk driver coming off the road and hit my parked car. I have had two occasions where my disc slipped (or disc rubbing bone on bone). The last being the worse. I ended up in bed for 2 weeks. First week I couldn't walk. Second week I had to force myself to walk while holding unto the wall and head pressed against it to prop me up while screaming and crying it hurt so bad. Was slightly numb in the groin area which felt like heavy weights was pulling downwards. Two weeks of that pain and 2 more afterwards while walking slow like an old man. Dummy me didn't go to the ER because in the past all they did was take X-rays and a cat scan and send me home with pain meds and advice me to have bed rest. So that's what I did at home. Bed rest. Let me tell you, NEVER again will I do that. I rather go to the ER room and let them admit me into the Hospital and intravenously administer pain meds. I know eventually I will need to get fusion but so scared. And I think I may of developed Sjogrens as well.

I was pre-approved for spine surgery. Covid pushed the date till next year, but coverage was the exact same as past several years...we thought. Blue Cross quietly changed it to HPN (high performance network) and nobody except Obama clinics take it. They didn't warn my job, me, or the hospital. I got $480k of surgery with no coverage. I'm leaving America as soon as I find another country that will take me. And yet, Washington's priority is Tik Tok. I'm done with this America. It can all burn like California for all I care.

Oh stop complaining people! Don’t like corporatized health care go without! With or without insurance sometimes we have to see a doctor. They have the choice of giving you half assed care which they don’t mind doing without insurance or give you good health care! Stop complaining! Health insurance is a bother? Go without! You have a problem with your private doctor you’re lucky to have, go without one and put up with crappy ER doctors. You have a problem with food costs? Pay or starve! You have a problem with everything with a car? Go without! Sick of rents going up, poo pooing that you can’t afford your first home, pack up your gear and live on the street with the homeless no don’t have a steady roof over their head to complain about and surviving is more on their minds than buying a house! So sick of people crabbing about what they have not caring about the ones who don’t have that you complain about but won’t give up?

What I wish is for those who have to stop whining about what they DO HAVE damn it! My life is hardly a bed of roses and I’m NOT Middle Class I’m Poor. Life is a struggle. I’ve had mini strokes since 1987 and got half assed medical help for the first one and I had medical insurance! NO help for them since I have no medical insurance! I’m sick of Middle Class bitching about what they HAVE! I know what it’s like to starve! In 2010 I had NO money! I starved for 3 months WAITING for the emergency food stamp card and almost died! I can’t afford medical insurance since the 90’s! I know what half assed medical care is like without insurance! I know what it’s like not to have a personal doctor Middle Class bitch about! I have a LOT of issues! Middle Class bitch about food cost but never go hungry. I HAVE! Middle Class bitch about gas prices! I had to give up my car and it took 14 years to save for another a used piece of crap I have to insure and fix to pass the E check!

Thank you. You have been very clear regarding the conditions . My post Lumber fusion is great for one minute then suddenly I can hardly walk. The periods seem to come in at a 3 week stage! My spine surgery 19th May 2022 was a great thing. BUT not all has gone well, since! No longer a nerve issue but I think a facet joint issue!

Im 22 and got pars in xray looks like a hairline crack using braces and currently stopped my sports activities and this is due a accident while sitting in steps sir where i collided and most of doctors say no fracture signs snd says only l5 vertebrae is sliped forward where diagnosed with grade 1 spondylolisthesis. Can wearing braces can help me to fuse the bones again and i feel the pain during sports and not sure due to nerve pressing or pars defect and if fused can i return to sports sir ?

Spine surgery is no joke! Especially fusion! Once you go down that rabbit hole you are hooked and will be mostly a repeat customer. I had spondylothis i suffered debilitating lower back pain. The first surgery went very well. So well I was ready to get back on the table for more. But I was stupider than stupid. Well besides not using the same surgeon I went with one very close to home a hospital that specialized in nothing . Needless to say things didn’t go so well. Surgeon misplaced two screws that pierced my L3 nerve on both left and right sides. If I could show the CT a layman could see the problem. I have not been the same following. Doctor denied screw misplacement until 3 months later when my original surgeon had step in. He ordered a CT clearly showing the screws out of lateral in my L3 nerves. Now my 3rd surgery removed the screws driven into the nerves but the damage was permanent at this point. Approximately 8 years later I required my fourth surgery after living a totally sedentary life from the damage I received when the second surgery screws were misplaced. As a rule if you have a fusion you can expect to need surgery again after 5 to 10 years. Things to also consider that might not be obvious Your stride will be reduced with just two vertebrae fused. You will lose range of motion the more vertebrae fused the worse movement becomes. My advice would be to make sure you find the best doctor; there’s many but there’s also many hacks! They may come off as wonderful! There’s big money in spinal surgery so it attracts a lot of good and not so good doctors. Please be careful you only have one body and one surgery can ruin your life. I’m am very great full for the surgeon that did the best for me at HSS!

In contrast Australian example of how it can be: my 67 YO sister has just had brain surgery for 2 tumours, diagnosis included 2 cat scans, 2 pet scan. The treatment including ICU cost her $0.
