Holy crap you guys are doing this again? I feel like I just got done watching the 2023 collecting resolutions video! Thanks for another great year gents.

NFTs feel like baseball cards. They have no value beyond the joy you get from looking at them. CCGs are games where the game pieces can have value beyond the game. It's a nice benefit to the hobby, but shouldn't be the main draw. Lorcana is really popular here in so cal, but that probably has to do with the proximity to disneyland. MTG being able to fumble so much of what they do and continue to grow is such a bad thing for the market. I'm so over it. My excitement at finding out my SWCCG cards still had value can not be overstated. It was such a nice surprise. Your views on hobbies is what I've been trying to tell people about conventions. I see so many people talking about the EV of going to Gps and Magic fests and it's so annoying. Most hobbies don't ever think about it in terms of EV. Love the content. Happy new year!!

"Mummified toploaders" with tape stuck on them really resonates for me. There may or may not be stacks of them in my desk drawer at work.

Every point made here resonates so strongly with me. Except saving wrappers, that is a line I've never crossed over. If I watch a video where someone is delicately opening a pack I have to turn it off, very triggering lol🎉

I agree with all these unpopular takes, haha Your point about Dead CCGs being time bombs is an important perspective. The ideal way to enjoy the hobby is to have fun, enjoy the nostalgia, and assume it will be worthless when you are old. Hand it off to your kids and tell them how much meaning they had to you, and it will keep some life to it!

I've been downsizing my closet as well! And it feels super nice. I just want to keep my best collection and try to have the least amount of things possible. I feel you on the intentional purchases as well. I'm deciding whether or not to buy a MTG Dragon Tarkir collection booster box just for fun but maybe the money could be better spent on just singles

I've sold more SWCCG Sets in Q4 than I did Q1-3 of this year. I've seen a huge spike in set sales. One person picked up nearly 1 of every set. I've also had more sets in stock right now than I have in some time. My sales don't hit these charts necessarily since eBay is less than 5% of my sales and that's including all my products on eBay but I'd be curious to run total numbers against what is being tracked through eBay by this group.

There are so many good pieces to this community, I believe the State of the Market reports are/is the glue that holds the hobby together bridging all the data for collectors, hobbyists and investors alike. Great report and the trends are very positive and I appreciate all the hard work that goes into each quarter.

A couple of highlights for me this year are: 1. Watching BoardMatt's channel! 2. Playing swccg in person with Steve! I hadn't played paper since 2001. Plus, he is the man. Thank you both for these videos and the wisdom and joy you share with the community.

I've bought a few of the things yall weren't sure about. I was super poor growing up and never really had a chance to put together a serious deck, and probably only played half a dozen games. Was so young at the time I didn't even understand the word adjacent, but that didn't stop me and my friends playing and violating all those rules (fore sure!). The good feelings and reliving those days was worth it enough for me to open some packs and smell that paper and paint like the good old days.

Love this so much. Great look at this set. I love looking at how the set was perceived at the time and again looking at it now. In general, it wasn't a set you needed to be able to play at the time except for the overpowered cards. I had bought two cases of each set when the prices dropped around 2002, opened a case, built a set, and let it sit. When I added Star Trek to C1G, I had so much of the Holodeck set and priced it lower than most because I had so much of it. It sat for the longest time and didn't start moving until around 2017 and I had to start bumping prices up as they began to increase around then for this set and I was selling out of cards I used to have so much of.

I never played this one, but a friend showed me how one time.

I watched episode 1 with my 7 year old son, he loved it and I really enjoyed it. A Star Wars version of boxcar children?!? Yes, please! I did enjoy that it was Star Wars but not really deep into the canon…at least yet. As Kyle said, I think the barrier for entry is pretty low and most anyone can enjoy it.

Now i can tell my mom i want wasting my money in high school lol

An enjoyable surprise. I think this show benefits not having to have a barrier to entry (knowing a lot of canon and back story) going into it. Even a non Star Wars fan could enjoy this adventure.

Haha I completely agree how Andor completely skewed my perspective on Star Wars. I couldn’t make it past episode 1 of season 3 Mando, it just felt so flat and bland by comparison. Probably unfair to judge Mando by that yardstick. Looking forward to watching Skeleton Crew with a more open mind!
