Is this done with the engine running or off?
Most Mickey Mouse fix I’ve seen in a while
Chances are its the socket being burnt.
Hey Bro - just changed the TIPM on my 2014 caravan that showed a code PO 480 and check engine with the low speed fan not working. A junk yard TIPM fixed it but now I have no front blinkers or flashers. Park lights work when turning headlights on. No front flashers. Blinker resets when ignition is off but when turned on, blinker sounds normal for 5 seconds then goes fast, all while both back blinker bulbs work but not front. I checked bulbs and fuses under dash in fuse box all are ok. Is it this new junk yard TIPM???
Cannot see where you’re sticking the dipstick into it. Be helpful if you show what cap is being pulled.
Subaru said its possible but sounded like it might do damage. I need to make sure before i hook up to drive for my RV. You have confidence thia could work with a dolly setup ? May be better to buy a dolly friendly vehicle....
Just went out and found the trans tube. It's easier to see with a flashlight looking in from in front of the battery at 45 degrees toward the engine. It's under that fat wiring harness that's below the radiator hose. Measured and made scribe marks on the back of my dipstick for the future. Cold is about 1/2 inch and hot about 2 inches. (+/-) Most people in the USA have no clue when it comes to metric.
Awesome
How bout show the actual cap
Well done
Good video thank you. Wish you could have zoomed into the cap area that has to be removed.
How long is the line that you draw,
55 mm
@@MrHemi4spd ... that's just over 2 inches for the novice. (hot level)
Unfortunately 0n some of the newer models have a sealed transmission so it can't be checked stupid engineers
I have a Toyota and yes the fluid level of the "sealed " transmission can still be checked as is so more most sealed automatic transmissions. As it is with all makes & models that I know of. In my 2017 Toyota RAV4 as in other Toyotas, some Mercedes,... it is checked via removing the oil pan drain plug. Up inside is a plastic straw kind of thing and it is hand tight threaded in there. When the temperature of the oil via an OBD2 reader (I use a cheap small one that plugs in to the OBD2 socket under the dash and an app on my phone). I take the phone under the vehicle with me. For my Toyota with the engine running when the trans oil temp reads the specified temperature range of between 35 & 43 degrees celsius (95 - 110 degrees Fahrenheit) the fluid should be just trickling up, over the top of the straw and running down and out. If it does then the level is 100% correct. If it does not then it is low on fluid so add some. If it keep running out full blast let it drain some SHut it off and let it continue draining and let it cool down which can take an hour or more depending on the atmospheric temperature outside. Then repeat until the oil just slowly runs out. Then re-install the drainplug bolt with a gasket.
Multiple those numbers by .03937 and have AMERICAN STANDARD MEASUREMENTS
25.4 is the acceptable number to convert from mm to in. Your number might make it more accurate but harder to remember
@@XxDiceman27xX that's roughly 2 inches up the stick for full when hot. It's also roughly just below the "safe" mark on the other side of the stick. You can do the math one time and make your own scratch marks for the future.
I thought when is cold it measures more n when is hot it measures less!
Automatic transmission fluid expands as it gets hotter. This is why the level should read higher when the oil is hotter. Same for my Toyota.
I don’t see a cap on my transmission
it's below the radiator hose and below that fat wiring harness, or about a foot below that plastic cover on the engine. Easier to see if you use a flashlight and go in front of the battery at 45 degrees toward the engine.
Engine running or not?
Running.
that s a good way to do it . thanks. love my town and country want to keep it in good shape
😂😂🤣 TO MANNY BURRO YOU JUST NEED TO PUT A FUSE AND THE CAR RUNNING ONLY ON THE FRONT WHEELS 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
I believe the fluids won't grease the transmission and will do damage.
Nice hack. I love learning secrets :)
Not true. No need to do so. Electronic central diff disengage when engine is off.
lol whut 🫣😂😂😂
Tks for all the data 👍🏼
Perfect ! Mine trans pan is all wet, it was leaking when I bought it. I want to check before going on a 10 hour trip, just did an all day last week... New brakes yesterday, oil change today, and check trans now...-anything special for ATF ? . As for oil 5-30 ? my 2013 oil cap says 5-20W....
Too funny! Just replaced my TIPM and I have that issue now. That's a crazy fix I certainly would do.
Why wouldn’t you show exactly where your putting the oil Stick into?! It’s nothing but black where your sticking the stick.
It's under the hose
I had the same idea but needed guidance on which wires to tap into. Thanks for the help, it worked 😊
I etched the back of my dipstick but this is a great tip, thanks for sharing.
I will definitely pass this along to my friend who also has a grand caravan as we were just discussing this the other day. I will be painting the top of my plug yellow to make it more obvious. Makes me wonder if you couldn’t get a junkyard oil dipstick, and just make one to leave in.
Couldn’t see where to dip the oil dip stick to check transmission fluid?
There's a long skinny black filler tube under the cluster. Has a cap with usual "transmission fluid" logo on it No larger in diameter than a quarter
Excellent! Thank you! 😀👍🦅🇺🇸
Cute that tranny fluid cap say “For dealer use only”!
Does engine oil splash out of your oil tube with the dipstick in the other hole? That would be my only concern.
I believe it's measuring the amount in the pan which is not under pressure. It wouldn't be able to splash up and out of the dipstick hole.
Just did it. Thank you for advice, Sir. Now I don't have to asking dealer to check level. Last time they asked 75 dollars for half and hour for this simple job. I'm chocked, how they want rip me off.
One question , what position use for oil test ? P or N ?
Park.
Why when i check it when its cold. The level is really high. When warm its in the 40 & 55 range????
Automatic transmission fluid expands as it gets hotter. This is why the level should read higher when the oil is hotter. Same for my Toyota.
Wer cap at
Motor should be running right?
Yes sir
👍
Mine does not even have a CAP!
Ya man your awesome 👍 Thank you so much I will share it ❤️
Great Video Thanks , Ignore the angry comments because you've provided a lot of benefit to those watching.
Short, straight to the point.
"Bloooop" You're a little naive, they did not leave out to be cheap - they left it out to make it dealer servicable to make money. But thanks for the video - In it - I would suggest you just write "cold" and "hot" instead of 5,15,...- why not be clear
Thanks a lot man you saved me
Nice video
Where's the cap?
Hey thanks!!! I was hoping it was that easy..

When you check transmission do you stop when you hit the bottom or do you stip after twisting it and it going down lower.
Stop when you hit the bottom.
Never use a bungee goober use a strap much safer
