Yeah the cb125f is nice but not as nice as the cb125e
Hi pal, I own this bike. It was my first bike after passing my A2. I've owned it for about 10 months now. Honestly, it's a fantastic machine, especially for the price. I ride mine for commuting when the weather isn't too icey or cold and also been on a couple of longer trips, my favourite being a trip to the Isle Of Man. If you want my opinion, it's a fantastic bike, but I feel it's one of those bikes that appeals to a certain kind of motorcyclist. With a Royal Enfield, it's all about the journey and not how fast the bike is going. The meteor 350 will happily sit at 60-65mph on the motorway in the slow lane. I've never felt like I'm lacking in power or that I need more to get out of "certain situations." Far to many idiots say that it's always about the power but there morons. The meteor will thump along happily all day it wants to be ridden and enjoyed. I always say to the morons who make comments about needing a larger capacity or more horsepower. You can only do the speed limit on the public roads. Why not enjoy it on a fantastic bike with loads of character.
Do you still have the bike?
Do you feel a tit on one of these if youre over six foot? I'm ok pootling about at 50 because ive done with long journeys/ motorways on a bike. Thats what the cars are for.
im 6ft 95kg long journeys hurt my bum a bit but the seating position is great
I am a new follower of your channel Greetings from Türkiye 😊
00:12 200mm is 8 inches. I suspect that's the length. Anyhoot, your bike looks hotter than microwaved jam. Cooee!
does the seat vibrations there feel in the butt?
Should be picking my 2019 version up today (03/10/2023) to get some road experience before attempting my MOD 1 again 🙂
I’ve got my CBT soon and really thinking about buying one of these.
Did you buy it? I also want to buy one.
@@xxlalbatross3287 i got one good lacks power tho

Hey! Have you ever used the CBF125 while having a passenger?
How tall are you mate?? What did you prefer Cb500f or cb500x and why cheers 👍🏻
I like the bike because I can stand up when I go over RxR tracks & known big bumps. It is a town bike & B roads. I think it’s geared too low. Gonna out a 16 tooth front sprocket. That will lower rpm’s about 400 @ 60 mph. Good bike for me. Don’t wanna go over 60moh anyhow.
This is what I’m riding at moto school ! Started with the cb300f for 3 days, then switched to the cb500f now . 4 more hours to go before going to the SAAQ for the 6A motorcycle license . Right now I’ve got the 6R due to the stricter laws . Not allowed to ride on the roads. It’s not bad, but it is a bit slow on the highways . Great bike anyways , but not that comfortable. My butt hurts after 1 hr riding due to the potholes on the roads . Safe riding my friend. 🇨🇦
What year model is this? All the CB125F's that I've seen have a single digital display, yours is different.
From the video he states a 2016 model. No LED headlights, grey bodywork sidecovers. This is not the most up to date model.
@@MrBenHaynes Oh I see, didn't notice that, TY. Yeah I think they have changed a considerable amount in the newer versions now.
@@larion2336 been looking into getting my first motorcycle and this been the one I've been lookking at. It was from 2021 they updated it aswell as 11kg lighter
@@DeanX_ Yep, since I made this comment I have actually gotten one of these, but the 2022 edition - it's my first motorcycle as well. I can definitely recommend it, it's a nice bike and I've done about 50 km's on it now, mostly around town as I learn.
Great vid....thx....v useful.
Totally understand your input on the CB650R an in-line 4 sounds best at 10,000 RPM Lol.
hard suspension? wich one front rear or both? im looking to upgrade my 100cc honda for one of this but if the suspension is hard i better find another option
the suspension is great on that bike…goes soft over bumps and all
I find the seat is fine for about 30 to 40 minutes then it becomes uncomfortable- I’ve tried shifting position but that doesn’t really help. Shame as otherwise this is a great bike.
I think the only option is to have the padding changed
If I went on long journey a cushion helps😂
Just a quick question. Did you have any issues with your cables when you fitted your bar risers. Enjoyed your videos 👍
These seem to be just right
Did you have enough play in the cables, without too much pulling on them to get the extra height. Appreciate your reply. I've got a 2018 model & really like it a lot..ta pal👍
@Marko. Mine were fine but will be different risers as the 2020 model has different bars etc
@@ridingwithaj1086 Agreed cheers for the feedback. I've checked out the moto technic. I want a quality product. Thanks again. 👍👍👍
Do you find the seat uncomfortable
Yes
Great review, thank you for your time. I bought a 2023 CB500F 2 weeks ago and I'm getting 72mpg for normal driving and I'm 5'11, 228lbs (104kg). If I drive 80mph. I average 50mpg. I have a 1991 CBR600F2 with 100hp, but the power is unnecessary. I began motorcycling on a new 2000 Yamaha V-Star 650 (40hp) cruiser. The CB500F is my preferred riding position. I'm very satisfied with the bike. 0-60mph in 5 seconds is fast enough for me. I'm 50. I bought the bike for a weekly 3 hour drive, so I wanted high mpg, reliability, and low out-the-door pricing. Tip - rely on out-the-door price if you buy new; email several dealerships.
Considering getting one of these as a food delivery/personal utility bike instead of riding my ZX10 everywhere lol. These seem like well thought out bikes, air filter is easy to change without pulling the tank, just under the seat. Wish they put cruise control on them but otherwise I think these are a home run.
How do you get 86 mpg?? I get 59 driving under 6500 rpm
take no notice of the figure on the display, they always overestimate wildly, it's rubbish. The only way is to do a proper miles ridden / fuel used over a period of time, and you will probably find 60mpg is more realistic.
Did you have to readjust any cable when you installed the handlebars risers?
AJ did you had to pull up or readjust any of the cables to install the handlebar risers?
AJ did you had to readjust any cables to install the VOIG handlebar risers?
Hello I have a cb500f (20 plate) I wanna have a more straight riding position, are this risers do the job well? Also I would like to ask you please, if you had to readjust any of the handlebar cable, like the clutch cable, front brake cable or any control cable. Please let me know.
A video of actually putting them on would be watchable.
What Dunlops did you say have a wider profile?
Nice review mate, I've just put a deposit on a 2022 cbr500r but i reckon the best all round option is the 500x, how would you compare handling between the cb500 and the 500x? I'm a experienced rider but just want something cheap too run and fun. Cheers

Thanks for your reply AJ,I have just got the 2022 version and was concerned about whether the cables will be long enough, take it that you didn't have a [problem with that aspect of fitting?
Hello, just wondering how you went on with these?
Really easy and fit fine
To be honest, even though I'll be going for my full A license next week, just on fuel economy this looks like a REALLY good option right now. By my estimation, petrol is going to top out somewhere between £2 and £2.40 in the short to medium term, so really I ought to be keeping the 125, but it's way too slow for motorways, not to mention pretty much unbearable at 60mph...
Its a vey cool looking bike but despite the displacement it would be no faster then my 125. It may be worth waiting for the announced royal enfield sb 650
I absolutely love the look of this bike but as you said not for tall riders. Im 6"3 and i can barley grip the tank with my legs. Makes my MT 125 feel huge.
will do my A2 later this year after riding on a cbt for nearly 4 years. I will be moving up from a MT125 and Im torn between this and the CB500X. The bike will be used for commenting 42 odd miles a day. Im learning more towards the X but is it really worth £600 more then this?
42 miles sounds a lot better than the 150 (ONE WAY) I'm planning on :P Assuming you're not planning to ever take it off the road, the biggest functional difference I can see is the windscreen. On one hand, it's better than nothing when you're going down the motorway. On the other - some people complain about buffetting from windscreens, whereas on the naked bike you're in mostly smooth air. The biggest advantage to a windscreen from my standpoint is that it'll deflect the insects and maybe some of the rain too. I'm getting real tired of washing my helmet 🤣 I'll probably end up on an old Deauville in the short term, then save some cash for something a bit better on fuel (like this here CB500F/X or the NC750X in DCT trim)
Any further comments or a long term review video coming on this bike?
did you do the follow up and fitting video?
did you have to re-route the cables?
I hate upside-down forks. They are only really needed on very high performance bikes. Fork seals last much longer on normal forks.
Just picked up a 22’ cb500f. 57 and took a 5 year break. Missed riding and wanted to just enjoy shorter rides and commuting. This is a sweet bike. No regrets
I just picked up the only 2022 500F I could find in a 50 mile radius of my house. It’s a great bike and I can’t wait to get more miles on it.
Good informative review. I’m an old guy whose downsizing after a few years of “heavy riding”. I’m a more careful rider now, but I like to know I can get 70-80 mph on motorways with maybe a touch more if needed, without thrashing it. Sounds like this might fit the bill. Thanks.
Great video from an everyday rider review of bike I think was spot on. I ordered one today unfortunately 3-4 month wait. 😎

Do you have a link to the bar risers?
I was weighing up which bike to get and your logic around getting a 500 as opposed to the 650 persuaded me to get one. I got the CB500X and it's lovely...for me it has enough power for daily use and is very comfy. I also love the overrun pops on the down change...sweet as
They are brilliant bikes mate
I got the 21 rebel 500 but im thinking of trading it in for this. I like the sporty look. I just hope the 500F at least feels faster
love it
Don't get rid of your Honda, get some Grip Puppies and slide them over your grips, when riding grip the tank with your legs and just rest your hands on the grips very lightly i.e don't grip the bars too tight, you should be able to flex your arms like a chicken if that makes sense, steering is a lot easier and makes for a more comfortable ride with no aches. Change your riding position, not the bike, hope this helps !
I decided on keeping it
