In truth it's literally just a background I clipped together to self-deprecate and a sprite edit where I composited "professional stun resister" onto the Flagellant's chest and recolored it to make it look like a t-shirt (also based helmetless crusader but that's just canon and I love it)

In retrospect I should've dropped Finale on the Flagellant in the second match, but overall I thought my gameplan regarding him was fine tbh

You're partially correct, but the most important thing to know is that by default, in The Butcher's Circus, all resolve checks will end in an affliction. You need to bring special trinkets in order to have any chance of getting a virtue. The only one that's easily used is the Crusader's Sacred Blade, which provides a 30% chance to virtue, so yeah, sometimes in fights versus Crusaders it can get pretty rough (especially if they roll for a virtue like Courageous, which makes the virtued hero take -33% less stress)

Honestly I'd say the RNG was pretty fair for the both of us other than the deathblow chances, I had the chance to play my team more defensively and instead chose to put it on the aggressive wagering that I could be a better damage team than his damage team (which I was, but I failed to get the deathblows LOL) The crits, resists, and damage rolls, I think we both got a good hand dealt with those.

As one of my first expeditions into Torchless, you're correct that this was largely misplayed on the preparation end on my part, but I must contest that Lance Crusader wasn't a viable option. Smite Crusader should've been what I brought, but Lance would've missed far too often to be good compared to Bulwark. Also you'll find that I don't play very much Musketeer. I don't like her low HP and I love Arbalest so I naturally avoid her LOL

@@yipcup I play team gr, crus, MaA, occ. HM's stress is a small but on all team, but I think massive stress in 1 target does more value, cause u want kill 1 enemy as fast as possible, and take an advantage. Crus also has inspirational cry, which destroyed enemy's popular stress tactics

@@Almutazz938 Grave Robber's application of stress honestly isn't my problem with her, though the value of party vs. single target stress varies (sometimes it's better to dunk on one high value target with Panic Darts, sometimes it's better to shred down the entire opposing team with Hound's Harry) My what leads me to considering GR weaker than HM relates to how adaptable she is in terms of defense. Flashing Daggers are funny, useful and make for unique games, but the utility they provide pales in comparison to Guard Dog (and no offense if you use it, but Toxin Trickery is usually a meme). Shadow Fade is highly exploitable whereas Lick Wounds was buffed to provide regen to continue healing the HM even if he gets stunned out, and his endgame unlock attack is Blackjack instead of Pick to the Face which is pretty huge. Grave Robber is a great character, a part of some of the best teams, but IMO Houndmaster is the no. 1 stress back-liner character

They're definitely not weak, but Flagellant is balanced around the idea that in order to make use of those heals, you need to keep yourself in sticky situations. The easiest and most applicable strategy against the average Rain of Sorrows and Punish Flagellant is simply to disrupt him and leave him as the last enemy alive, effectively removing two of his big HP heals. The way I play, with Reclaim, sacrifices the ability to keep those big HP heals way down the line in place of getting to wager them earlier, the gambit being that them in addition to Reclaim is enough to ensure a higher likelihood to win than the alternative. Without a doubt, Flagellant is the strongest character... but the risky barrier of entry to my sort of play style (and how easily the other can be navigated) always kind of makes me shrug when he's deemed broken. I also think that people forget that he's best played as a healer, and not a superboss tank

tldr I am a Flagellant apologist and I find most Flagellant players so braindead easy to play around that it confuses me that people find him overpowered

There's no room for a Finisher on this comp, except maybe on the MAA if you're joking around and don't care about losing the benefits of one of his trinkets. Vestal is miserable to play tho
