In this pretty much uncut video, I show you how to replace the shift link bushing on a 2005 Nissan Xterra Off-road package. This is the same for 2005-2015 xterras with automatic, 2005-2018 automatic Nissan frontiers and 2005-2012 Nissan pathfinder, and the part also fits armada and Titan vehicles.

good job keeping it real, I really like the ziptie fix. as a temp fix. going to have to do this to a 2001 maxima. 141607 Shift Cable Bushing Repair Kit I got of ebay its really kind of the same as one you got
had something simular on a 2001 maxima (transmission RE4F04B). except it would shift, but randomly when put in park, and come back later, it wouldn't start because it didn;t think it was in Park, workaround was to jiggle the shifter or put in N. 4+ years later when I am going to sell the car, decided I need to fix this. so initially I thought it was the Neutural safty switch. and I changed that, , still has issue. hummm. so I am thinking if the bushing fell out but the cable is still connected it might be the cause. and when I checked it, it was. the cable was still on the shifter and hand not come off . but because the bushing was missing it wasn't pushing the shift arm on transmission far enough always to tell the TCM it was in Park, IT thought i was in R. After researching this I am learning that Nissan and GM this is a very common issue.
Thank You. Nice & easy tutorial! My 2021 Frontier PRO-4X is up next for this mod.
I’m glad I was able to provide a good easy tutorial!
Where can I get one . I didn’t see a link

You’ll have to message on that forum, and the guy will reach out to you
I couldn’t get the screws out of the glass, because the whole thing was twisting. I put some needle nose visegrips on the washer on the same side as the nut, and that did the trick.
I hope I got you in the right direction! Lol needle nose and vise grips are a hard combo to beat
What’s the link for the connecter
The link is in the description
Was you able to find the link?
Thank you!!!! My x needs this.
Should have came from the factory like this!
Great how to!
Thanks!
Nice! Thanks for the video!
No problem!
You got that in forum? You like them
What you mean? I found it in the forums, there’s a lot of information for the xterra there. Depending on the generation.

I just did this mod, but ran my hose over the shock mount and then down to the breather. I have some slack also. I assume there are multiple ways you can mount it.
Yes, different people have it mounted different ways. This is how I did mine, as I felt this would work well for me.
I got the same year Xterra a few weeks ago. I didn't do this mod on my last Xterra but I will check out the valve this time around.
It’s deff worth the time! Sorry, just seen where you commented on the video. It’s relatively easy to do. If you don’t want to source your own stuff, offroad gorilla sales a kit.
Thanks for watching, if you have any questions please ask!
🙏🏽
Do you need to put any teflon tape or pipe dope on the threads of the new adaptor to seal the threads.
My Muskoka I did not, might not hurt to put Teflon tape or some kind of thread tape on to make it seal better. I was actually thinking about that last night, the next one I do I’ll be putting some kind of thread sealer on it to make sure it’s 100% threaded and sealed
True North Muskoka so I recently bought a 05 Xterra offroad, abs I bought some clear silicone and threaded the breather down a good bit, then siliconed the base of the breather and carried the silicone up to the base of the hose to make sure it was good and sealed. I feel the silicone would seal the adapter better than the Teflon or the pipedope
I have a 4 cyl 5 speed. Just a basic work truck, on dirt roads here and there but mostly pavement. Would you recommend this mod?
jaynesc29 if you plan on the axles being submerged then yes. Mostly paved roads? Nah. This would be a highly recommended thing if you had the M226 variant axle. But the c200k not so much. But you could, wouldn’t hurt anything!
jaynesc29 the stock part tends to get clogged/ corroded shut and this blows the axle seals and can result in major issues with the rear diff. I know all about that now lol. Do it no matter where you drive
Heavy duty!! Thanks for sharing
Larry Fetters it worked, when I used the bigger one it worked very good, just heavy.... so I would say use the noodle as a weight and just add some weight to the line.
I hope you all enjoy this DIY instructional video! If you have any questions ask!
Interesting video. May do this on my 2015. Any updates since you installed it? Thanks.
Glenn Mason the main reason I did it was bc there is no breather for the rear axle that will keep water from getting into the axle, and being as it's 4x4 I knew that it would get taken off-road and didn't want to chance the axle heating up and blowing seals when I went off-road and had to cross water. I don't have blown seals in my axle yet so I'm assuming it works
I pulled my tail light the other day and looked at the filter and it’s clean! I’ll be doing my rear axle soon, as a few weeks ago I went into some water up to the cab.
