Repair car paint chips using Color N Drive touch up paint kit.
Переглядів 83 тис.4 роки тому
My Volvo XC90 has several paint chips from door dings. I use the Color N Drive paint chip repair kit to touch the chips up. Before and after shots in addition to the process.
Do you do this multiple times to get the result? Mine is still not there yet.
Yes, there were tough spots I needed to do several times. It is worth while though.
Behind every man on camera is a woman behind. 😂
Too easy to become true. Didn't work with me; a simple fiasco !
Farbe passt nicht. Und das sieht man schon in der Verpackung. Viel Geld für Schrott. Wird wie im Video matt und die Flecken lassen sich nicht weg polieren bzw überschüssiger Lack.
I just ordered for my Peugeot RCZ black
Yes just wait longer in between coats of paint 😊
You know you can go on with multiple layers. It looksed better than before for sure! :)
Yes, that would be a good idea!
Thanks a lot!
Not impressed. This product did not fill in the small chip cavities, but only colored it.
Noisy kids in the background
Has anyone ever told you that your voice kinda sounds like Jeff Goldbloom?
I got a peice of trim from a junkyard but it was corroded with spots and dull. mothers made it look like new. no joke.
Bought this for some touch up that’s needed to be done on my car since I bought it. Plus it’s a 2013 Toyota Camry se with the 040 color code. It’s plagued with Toyotas known chipping paint issue. Covered all the spots and from a distance you can’t tell it was ever there. This is a place holder though as I’m thinking about getting the car resprayed completely and properly later on. I was either going to keep it white or get it switched to black
paint gets peeled off every time I use the correctnclear, I even waited 5-6 hours to let the paint dry, but it was keep getting peeled off.
Great video! Thank you so much. Many people have this problem with their Volvo XC90 and most of them say that there is no solution but actually there is. Really good how-to video.
Great video. Thanks! I wonder how long will it last?
Still looks good after a year and a half!
This is the correct way to apply a polishing paste. But if your laundry has no trace of blackening, caused by oxidation, this metal is not polishable
Wow! Superb results. I've got a Vauxhall (Opel) Insignia with the same problem but worse. Definitely going to try as you advise on that one. Many thanks!
How did you get on?? Did it last??
11:33 into the video... The finished repair. Looks like black paint chips to me. Should have used a black Sharpie and saved some time and a lot of money on these worthless "kits". If your car isn't black, you'll just have to do the job right. Paint, sand & blend... Paint, sand & blend... Paint, sand & blend... Paint, sand & blend... till it looks like it should.
please use a different camera person next time:)
Can this be done with Super Fine (0000) Steel Wool?
Hi, how clean the microbrush after use? With Turpentine? Thanks!
Watch Chrisfix's video on how to repair deep scratches using such DIY scratch remover kits. You'll be better off with his in depth application procedure and proper curing time knowledge between coats and after the final application.
Just found one of these in the trunk of a car I just bought. Unfortunately the correct n clear bottle is empty
How about using a pair of scissors to cut off the amount of cloth you need, instead of using a hole bunch of it? Dude... You are supposed to wait for the paint to dry a little. 5 Min. is just a suggestion. It depends on the day, humidity, sun light, etc....
Dude. He said he let it dry for 3 or 4 minutes dude.
porcheria assoluta
Hi, the dull matt paint on my Mercedes, secondo te è un buon Prodotto?
Thanks for the walk-through. How is is holding up? Any tips in hindsight?
It is holding up good. There is a comment to fill the chip and let it dry for an hour then go over it which makes sense. If I were to do it again, I would do that.
@@regularguytim smart, I appreciate it. Thank you.
I let the paint bead and fill the chip or scratch cavity. I also let it cure for about an hour, not 5 minutes, before going to the next steps. This way I am not wiping away the newly applied paint. I find this achieves results as if the chip or scratches were never there. I hope that helps. :)
How is it holding up? Thank you.
Okay I’m doing this, mine is pretty deep with rust I let it tried for 5 min it wasn’t a good outcome and I’m gonna redo it next time and follow ur tip, thanks
Thank you. Thinking about doing it, but I dont thing Tim got that good of a result. Its better than it was for sure :)
Dude is straight staring into my soul... LOL
I swear he did not blink lol
;-)
The scratches are still quite visible, and it doesn't seem as half good as the result in their videos. I think it is false advertising.
It's a $40 kit. What exactly did you expect?
i got pro kit but not try them yet because the weather now is no good winter is coming! the best weather to apply is summer
Good thinking 👌
I tried mopar touch up paint for an 09 grand Cherokee with paint code pxr. It was a slightly different shade and didn’t blend vary well. Do you think this will match correctly?
Paint wears/degrades over time due to sun and other exposure. That's why it isn't uniform. This is the same whether you buy OEM touch-up paint or "close-to-OEM" paint like this 👌
Thank you for upload. Wish I would have watched this before I purchased. I’ve been working with acrylic nails, extensions, paints and epoxies for years and there has GOT to be something better and more user friendly on market. The clear and correct works almost like an acetone would work on correcting a nail however it doesn’t damage existing paint BUT also doesn’t correct properly. There’s not a lot of mailability. I tend to be able to correct minor imperfections to look perfect but I don’t seem to be having any luck with this one. Idk, I’ll try again tomorrow. Maybe I’m jumping the gun on this and expecting perfection. Slightly frustrated given I followed directions to a tea. I should also note I used to make handmade jewelry and weld so I know how to clear a surface for a pant redo. Pros: color is fresh and spot on, arrived quickly. Cons: doesn’t fill in the way it should. Color is easily removed with the corrector so your doing the same thing 10xs. Letting paint dry overnight to see if It will stay on when I try to correct it tomorrow. Will update
Any update?
Upd?
It's a $40 kit, not a complete strip and repaint by a professional, anne 👌
How did the overnight method hold up
The lint hanging from the brush @ 4:50 is making me mental.... 🤪
"Concave outward"? Convex to everyone else. Does he ever blink?
;-)
Thought the exact same thing.. LOL
In case you or anyone was wondering, that’s the “Plus” kit. Did they send you a little pack of gummy bears too? I got one with my kit. It was a hilarious little surprise. 😂
Thank you for your video buddy. I am applying it right now!
Great video! I was skeptical on ordering this, but after watching this it’s exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the upload sir👍
How’d it go? I just ordered mine
@@claybrz2276 it could’ve gone better it’s what they advertise. I could’ve made it look a bit better but I have no experience so it turned out alright. It made my scratches less noticeable which is what I was going for. Hope the reply helps
LUZ I just used mine, I have a white pearl paint and it didn’t match at all. Glad it worked for you tho! Mines super noticeable so I’m just going to fork over the money to get the bumper re painted :/
@@dirtmoney8740 what issues did you have?
@@hikeskool the paint didn’t match the original color, it was good enough for me though since what I wanted was for the scratches to not be noticeable.
I just tried it on my dad's pass at with ultra fine steel wool. And it was still a bit marred. Either way, trim on my gm and exhaust tips are next. We'll see about the longevity of it.
How long would you say it lasts once applied?!
@@patrickanthony3632 the trim on my dads passat is still chrome look. The hazing disnt come back. It worked well on the exhaust tip but youll get soot there regardless
@@nenadmomcilovic9133 Whoa… That’s a whole year! That’s well worth the effort!
@@patrickanthony3632 Just make sure you use the right type of wool if you're attempting it.
@@nenadmomcilovic9133 Thanks a lot for sharing that piece of information since I was just think of using a regular microfiber piece of cloth! Would you happen to have a link for the type of special wool you used?
Wax on wax off Danial son - all jokes aside thanks for the review just purchased a color n drive kit. I don't expect miracles, as long as the color match is close I will be happy - thank you :)
You’re welcome.
How did it go?
I like your compound try. I also did an application on my car last week but couldn't use well with the paste. Next time I'll do as you did.
Just wanna say thank you for the video
Does the color match the one from the original paint?
Yes. The black matches pretty good.
I wasn’t sure if I should trust the manufacturer, but because of you, I’m SOLD on the product. Getting it for my BMW Z4.
Good luck! Hope it goes well.
How did it go?
Appreciate the upload, I've had my Color N Drive kit just hanging out in my room for about 2 months now, about to apply it right now.
Hope it goes well!
How did it go?
@@hikeskool It went ok, It got the job done. The color wasn't 100% accurate, but given the price for everything, it was close enough. It makes the paint chips harder to see from a distance and most importantly it helps to stop any rust that you may have from spreading, which in my case I had a few really tiny rust spots and they've since been covered. Overall, as long as you have realistic expectations and don't expect magic, I think it's worth it.
@@brurof thanks for taking the time to respond. I think you have the right idea - too many people here think a $40 kit is going to restore their paint to factory-fresh OEM finish. Did you do multiple layers/passes?
@@hikeskool No Just one pass, I found one layer to be more than enough
Thank you
You're welcome
Thanks for the video. I was looking to buy this kit for my XC90 too. How do you find it?
I ordered it from colorndrive.com,
