This is it straight up. I just tried explaining this in a women space where they hear these male "dating coaches" telling women "a man who is interested in you will do everything. You don't have to do anything" and I'm like baby girl, as much as of a hyperbole that statement is, have you shown him that you are interested in keeping a relationship. It's in the little things like taking the initiative to try rekindle when the conversation seems to have died down, or sending a funny meme just to engage him. The thing is reciprocity is what makes the connection build and make each party feel like they can enter the relationship safely. Men who are interested in you will do their part, make sure the conversation keeps flowing and never dulls out, do little gestures here and there hoping you notice and appreciate but if he doesn't feel like you're showing interest, man then packs up and go pitch a tent somewhere else. It's just the show of interest in the beginning with the little things that builds the secure connection, then overtime they flow naturally
