It's not intended for lap steel playing, there's a trend for rubber bridge guitars over the last years, most people just mod old cheap acoustics but they seem to make them new. It was popularized by Old Style guitars in LA I think, it's a sweet sound.

It looks very similar in style to a Fender Starcaster.

I had the very same make and model in the mid 60’s when I was on high school only in a Red finish

That is a Terra bass, built in North Carolina- probably in the 1990’s. I recognize the keyhole inlay and rounded neck heel design. Probably only a few made, and my friend knew the luthier and had him build a six string for him back around 1994-95. You do great work, and I really like your approach to each issue you encountered. The headplate looks great!

Where did you find that bass? I had an all red model which I played as a teenager. Bass was stolen and I still miss it. Never had any problems with playing it.

I'm sorry to see that you can't install the Doctor bridge on Ovation guitars without first seeing how to install that base wood. I like the design of the Ovation but obviously I bought a guitar with a classical soundhole, that design of little holes seems horrible to me. I've put nylon strings on my 12 string guitar and it sounds fine, and of course I play this guitar with my fingers.

What is the price of this bass?

To answer your question about what year this bass was made in-Not all but most manufacturers will put the year at the start or the serial number. If that’s the case then the bass you have here was made in 1999.

How about a before and after shot?

Great build. Bet it sounds as good as it looks! Quick question though, what is that black material you used to between the body and the top? Was that just glue and dye or something? Really interested to know what that was. Thanks.

I own three of Andrew's beautiful instruments, and while I've seen many photos of the builds-in-progress, I've never experienced the creative process in quite as compelling and inspirational a way as it is depicted in this video. It gives me a whole new appreciation for my Drake basses! Well done, Andrew.
