UK Forensic Mental Health Social Work (hospital and community) and criminal justice social work
David Cochrane MBE is a Forensic Social Work Consultant at West London NHS Trust, having recently retired from the Head of Forensic Social Work role there, covering Broadmoor Hospital and West London Forensic Services. He is involved in an HEE funded Social Supervision Project, developing a Quality Framework and training materials to support the management of Conditionally Discharged patients. Additionally, he is working with the National Group of Social Work Managers in Secure Services and www.dcc-i.co.uk/index.html to finalise a Quality Framework for Social Work within medium and low secure settings.
The session will focus on how UK Forensic Mental Health Social Work (hospital and community) fits within criminal justice social work. David started off his career in London Probation and believes there is a lot Forensic Social Workers can learn from Probation/Criminal Justice/Criminology literature.

So nothing changing then still controlled health care and workers i would like to see more people having full control of their lives and who provides the care my vision i would like to see the care and support staff training themselves and becoming self employed not to beholding to big companies the care and support staff need to be aware because the service they supply pays for all these companies wages and benefits from the hard work of all the staff paid the lowest pay 20:11 yet they create the wealth i want every single worker to be aware and work for themselves

This is so refreshing to see the voices of PLE represented in an academic journal and hope this becomes commonplace. Together with the SUGaH+ group at Liverpool Hope University (PLE) and Shaping our Lives we have recently coproduced an inclusive model of research when working with People with Lived Experience. This has been truly valuable. I hope we now see an overhaul in which PLE voices and academic hierarchies are diminished - redefining what knowledge is and how it is made - important for dismantling colonialism in social work.

What actually is racism? Its mind boggling that honest frank discussion and consistent action have not happened where racism against the black communities is concerned but is vital if this scourge is to be eliminated. Whilst not minimising other groups, it must be acknowledged that the black african Maafa (black holocaust) of the transatlantic slave trade is by far the most abhorrent act of genocide against the black community across the globe sustained for over 400 years. To date no apology or even actions to repair the damage. We all know what must be done but sadly we've become apathetic and seem to only be able to have conferences with little follow up. Are people aware of the UN declaration of the decade for people of black african descent? Part of the declaration is Reparations to repair the damage done that has placed this group in the condition they are currently in. The declaration started in 2015 and is due to end in 2024. Look it up and be involved at all levels in making the changes required count. No more talk.

Kindertransport was a Mi5/6 operation in cooperation with the National Socialist German government. It was also a point of fact the the £500,000,000 credit note that arrived on Neville Chamberlain's desk on the 1st of September 1939 was also not funded by the British taxpayer, but they were forwarded the bill for it, with interest and indeed bankrupted the Empire by 1951.

So much to say on that topic and more to say about the state of this society. Are we helping disenfranchised people or are we hurting them when we implement government policies which aren't always equitable. When we think about the genesis of why we are in the position we are currently in on a global scale, we will all hang our heads in shame. Am I my brother's keeper?

Has the government decided not to extend or fund innovative approaches to working in the community in many London Boroughs? Maybe we should look into this. I wonder what help is being offered to Ukrainian families on entry to the UK? Charity begins at home and then abroad. hmmm

Thank you for this video. Please I have a question: Can an AMHP sign another AMHP's application that was already written up by the first AMHP ? For example, I saw a situation whereby an AMHP came out on a job with application for that another AMHP had already written up because the person had met patient and conducted assessment/!interview however, could not come back to patient as promised. Another AMHP was then given the written application A6 but without signature with intention that the new AMHP will go out and tell patient he has to go to hospital and the new AMHP will sign the same A6 already written by another AMHP. Literally , the patient was just told he was going to hospital and there was no proper new assessment. Os this allowed legally? Thanks.

Yes, this is terrible that these things happen. Someone can get detained just for being assaulted, & then ending up being physically treated in a centre! Citizens need to rise up and make sure these things do not happen to normal, ordinary citizens who r just trying to live their lives. A person can go for weeks without being seen by someone.... it is known. So much happens, and it seems that it is legally overlooked or not known!

Great, how lovely it is of you to admit that you at NIHR spend millions of a billion a year on 'Big Studies' where the findings of research is published for others to use the 'Best Evidence' in 'relationship based practice' in regard to 'Lived Experiences' so that those with the power to make changes can make changes to dwindled 'Lived Experiences' where 'relationships are broken down in practice' and the 'Best Evidence' has become money well invested to ensure that... personal budgets, safeguarding, offender wellbeing, social isolation of the Elderly and wider determinants of health are all simply a little opportunity for the simple opportunists that quite simple want to throw a few words together to make them look extremely intelligent whilst they hope and pray that they can keep up the facade of looking all important so that they can keep a car on the road and a roof over their head at the cost of other poor folks that were traumatised in school to such an extent that the likes of Social Workers actually have the audacity to call 'this' a learning disability! PHEW!

I thought no, hold on, see what other lies and bias is being proffered & on watching Sarah's presentation was again seeing utter bias, Sarah's slides were gender neutral when it came to the abuse perpetrator. Sarah was completely blind to this and at every single opportunity the man was the perpetrator through her mouth. You really need to take a look at yourself Sarah & how bias, sexist and what a blatant misandrist you are. How you can sit and say what you say when the group are seeking rights is so ironic. Perhaps you should all look into how many "Mothers" not fathers stop access to the children & how destructive and abusive that is to the children.

Hi, I am intrigued by the title of this video, "Domestic Abuse Guidance Webinar" Rebecca starts off about what's happened to women & girls. Where is the comment about Men & Boys, is the blatant sexism displayed completely counteractive, the comment, again by Rebecca "That all women experience domestic abuse" Is outrageous and libellous. How can you actually expect anyone to take you seriously when you state these utter fabrications, I accept that abuse takes place but all women, how about the abusing women. I've had to stop at 08:23 after hearing that as I assume there will be so many lies in this webinar it will affect me & for the record I have never abused but have been abused by a woman.
