Here I am making a copy of Justin Nelson's sling chair from Fernweh Woodworking. Go check out his work on instagram for sure, he is an incredible designer and craftsman. This was my first attempt at using a Kutzall disc for the angle grinder to do some shaping. It worked very well and I am so pleased with the final product.

How to Build a Wood and Steel Mountain Art
thanks...any pics of the underside of the table...?? you've done a tremendous job...
can you send the link to purchase plans?? thanks
@@afs6596 www.mollywollywoodworking.com/product-page/oliver-table-plans
Is it possible to purchase the plans and have them altered to be 72” long and 40” wide?
Cool camera shots are fun but if you get a nice action pic of you lopping your finger off you'll feel like a big dummy. Dont lose focus :O
Hi nice work 👍 but which angle are the legs
This frame looks amazing! Thanks for the video. I'm considering doing something similar, but with the legs canted outward about 10 degrees. The only issue I think I'll have is for the stretcher, which I will probably leave standing proud to avoid complicated angled lap joints. Do you think this idea would be needlessly complicated? I just like that mid century angled look... Thanks! SUBBED!
That is so sweet
I purchased the plans for this table, and I am going to start the build soon. Thanks for the video and the detailed plans.
Nice
Are the plans available in metric?
Great job on this build and the video. BTW congrats on the 600 👍 I couldn’t help myself, saw the 599 and i had to hit the 👍 and Subscribe.
What you did with the jointer isn’t it the same with the planer
Hey I’m not sure what you mean, sorry
Nice work! Where do you find cushions? Any online suppliers you use?
2:30 End grain gluing hack -- spread a thin layer of glue on all the end grain surfaces and let it dry completely, then proceed with the glue-up. The first application of glue seals the end grains and the second sticks everything together. That said I really like the look of the spline joints 👍
I was just going to share this same tip! Definitely makes for a much stronger end-end glue joint.
Looks great, what joints did you use for the legs and fastening the legs to table top? What finish did you use on the walnut? Great work
Looks great, did you use biscuits/dominos for the table top? What finish did you use?
If you have 1$2,000 worth of tools you can build a 500 dollar chair. Nicely done!!!!
Where did you purchase your lumber?
Tuyệt vời
I’ve wanted to build one of these for a long time. Thanks for all the shared knowledge
What tool is that at 2:29?
It is the Festool domino
A joy to watch Andrew! Always inspiring and I admire your imagination to keep coming up with beautiful designs. Well done. One Handed Maker - Australia
You must have a lot of money because walnut is out of reach price wise for all but those with a lot of spare cash!
This is technically known as a dog-petting chair.
That was great, easy to follow video. Thanks.
Thanks so much for watching!
good job
I'm a newbie woodworker, so forgive my question....but why is the bottom stretcher on the underside of the leg brace piece? Wouldnt it be stronger if it was dado-ed onto the top side of the leg brace? Lovely table and i really like the base. I qould 100% take a 'proper' table like this over an epoxy filled thing. But i get its whatever the person paying for it wants...they get 🤣🤣
No worries at all! It probably would be stronger, but underneath looks better in my opinion and with the right fit and wood glue in there it is plenty strong for the purpose.
I’m a fan of the mid century modern stuff, that’s what I have really gotten into making. I’m a fan of Foureyes Furniture as well, you do a good job to fit yourself into that category and I enjoy the pieces as well as the videos.
Hi Andrew, can we please get our deposit back for the bedside tables we commissioned you for? Ever since you took our money 3-months ago you have completed ignored our calls, emails, and texts. I understand you are busy but this is unprofessional. Talking with other past clients of yours it sounds like this is a recurring issue and potential scam situation going on.
Beautiful
I always wear gloves when working with rough lumber. Have been for 50 years. If you don't, you are going to get lots of splinters. Your hands should never be close enough to the blade that the glove is going to get caught.
I loved your design, and downloaded the plans. I used it to make 3 chairs.... learned alot with the first one (gave that away to the neighbor), and then made a few small changes and the later 2 turned out very similar to the picture. The only difference is that I changed up the arm rests a little, and used douglas fir finished with teak oil because I'm using these outside on my back patio. Just wanted to say thanks because there weren't many plans out there, and this design hit all the marks.
could you please share the lessons learned on your first attempt? I am far from a master and can’t afford a lot of excess learning mistakes in terms of materials.
@@jasonhuskie988 The biggest change was in the amount of distance that the joint nearest the ground extended from the leg. The grain was running vertically, and had very little strength (which I found out the hard way). I shortened this up and made the runner commensurately longer. The other big change as I mentioned above was in the arms. Rather than have arm runner connect to the front leg like in your design, I shortened the leg a little, and made a tenon on the top which mated to a mortise in the arm which I extended . I angled the front of the arm to be the same angle as the front leg. Also, I made the arm rest out of one piece of wood which I had flare out towards the back where someone's elbows would be, and then come in to the same width as the front leg as it swept forward. I did the cuts on my bandsaw and then chamfered the outside edge at 45 degrees where it flared out, and then sanded it for dear life.

look 2 years later and im still subscribed and your still posting!
Very pretty table. Until you decided to ruin it with the stain. Sorry having to say this. It just looks cheap. Oak is too beautiful. Please leave it natural. But hey who am i?
Thanks a lot! The stain was the clients choice so if they’re paying I’m staining baha
apparently you feel the need to minimize another's preference with your bias...chill out man...what color is your furniture?? asking for a friend
So the assembly is only done with dominos. No joinery. Do you think there are limits to the weight, the chair can carry?
That’s correct. I’m not sure to be honest, I mean there has to be a limit on it eventually but i don’t know what that would be. I’m about 235lbs and it holds perfectly. My two kids will often jump up and down on it together playing and it has held fine as well.
beautifully done.. simple looking but elegant..
Thanks so much!
Hi Andrew. I love your videos. This is Pat Down. As I am watching all your videos I notice you have the patience of Job. Your work is beautiful and inspirational. Have a great day lad.
Hey Pat, thanks so much, I really appreciate that!!
That looks great!
Thanks John!
Wicked chair man! Go Oilers!!
Thanks so much man! Haha big game tonight vs Vegas, hopefully we can squeak out a W!
the length on the bottom stretcher? 32" seams too long? that brings my total length to 42" outside dimension of that bottom stringer...
Amazing job, what is the stain you used?
Where did you get the cushions
Quantos graus você inclinou o disco da serra?
Absolutely, and please
Спасибо большое за интересные идеи супер!!!
Why not just use brad nails? Seems easier..
Most definitely!
Beautiful chair!!! Want to build 2 of these! Any chance you can share a shot of the finished chair with upholstery? That will seal the deal. Looking forward to downloading your plans. Certainly appreciate that you took the time to offer them.
I was curious on how your plate jointer was set-up?
