HELP…Can anyone confirm if the SOS button (next to the rear view mirror) should light up red and stays on after engine starts? I’m not subscribe to the SOS service. My father swears the SOS button never turns on or at least don’t remember seeing it. Thx in advance.

Hahaha easy a flashing glowplug light os engine management so its a sensor ,bad connection faulty wires or clogged stuck egr thas failing

Hey man, I got same year and everything and have it decked out, but have been looking for a stage 2 or 2+ tune to get on it but online I can't find anything higher than 1+ tune. I have the cobb access port. Would love some Insite to find a tune.

"Seats are pretty comfortable" ? I drive a Mercedes C220 CDI automatic from 1998. Great car, but it has two big faults : it rusts like hell and its seats are VERY uncomfortable (way too hard). The engine is also pretty noisy when cold and the steering is a bit too light and feel-free. On the plus side are the low fuel consumption, the automatic gearbox, nice wood finish in the interior and the overall solid built quality.

The glow plug sensor runs through the brake light harness. When the glow plug stays on constantly the wires are probably broken. And low boost can also be caused by a hole in the pipe itself as it is just plastic. My 2006 tdi blew a hole out on the backside plastic pipe . As a quick fix I attached a metal strip and metal clamp to seal the hole to get back boost. When changing it out the wires to the brake light switch and glow plug where corded and broke. Which lead the brake lights staying on constantly and the glow plug light staying on. I had to re solder those wires and shrink wrap.

I've the same car, 2008 Toyota Yaris HB with 153,000 miles on it. I don't get any error code indicating a bad upstream oxygen sensor. Should I replace the oxygen sensor anyway? It seems like it's quite a difficult task unlike replacing spark plugs and ignition coils which are much easier.

Thanks for your orientation and vivid video! My issue is that there is ice cold blow, but turning to hot, just blows without hot air from vents. Occasionally, there is a little hot from driver side, but passenger side, always no hot air. Is this also a HVAC blend door actuator issue?

You **^ABSOLUTELY DO NOT*** take apart the new blend door actuator. You set the old one to COLD, remove the connector and old actuator. Then connect new one before install. Turn on ignition and HVAC system and arm will go to the same position as the old one.

Locking the handle is not required. It serves no purpose and unlocking is an extra step every time you have to pump. Just sayin'

My car does not get good fuel mileage. 250 to the tank if lucky. Its more like 215. If you are 5 foot 5 and taller, there is no leg room. But I still find myself liking it.

Does the mpg's go down before getting the check engine light? My 2007 yaris used to get 38 mpg, I'm down to 33 mpg and wondering if the O2 sensor is going bad. So far no check engine light.

Would this be why the glow plug light on 2001 VW Beetle is flashing? Car starts fine & has plenty of umph, but rear lights have been burning out.

Cheers mate! I’ve just got a bargain rear windscreen wiper for £3.59! I haven’t replaced the back one on my new car yet, so thought I’d watch a video before giving it a go! I always found the Mk1 Yaris ones really easy to change, but when I bought the Mk3, my front windscreen wiper was stuck so I got Toyota to do it for the first time (they agreed it was stuck bad and they think the previous owner had the same one on for five years!) the second time I bought a far better blade and it literally took me two seconds thanks to a video, so since I haven’t done the back one I thought rather than look a fool I’d watch a video it seems just as easy, as long as hopefully isn’t stuck again! Thanks!

I was unable to move the arm until the motor and worm were taken out. Cleaned it up a little and for some reason started working again. Your video was a lot of help. Maybe the contacts were corroded or maybe the old lubricant was dried out. I have no idea why but it started working again. Thank You.

From England I think your getting a little uptight om not knowing. So glow plug problem wont affect driving at all just starting if it gets too cold most garages will be able to change a flow plug you just have to identify the one that's not grounding anymore and change it or if the plugs have been in a long time maybee change all 4 as its not a bog job even for a for a competent home DIY mechanic just fiddly. The second issue you have is with deposits from the diesel fuel clogging up the EGR valve, now when you switch off and give it 5 mins the light will go off on start up and if you drive with gentle acceleration you can do the highway speed limit no problem it will only go into limp home mode when you accelerate a little to viciously, so just stop and wait then you can drive normally again although gently with the accelerator. You can clean out the EGR on some models, ( check out youtube for yours) but when this happened to my Passat I used an additive to help clear out the gunk from my EGR so I dosed the fuel and drove the car gently for about 500 miles then cautiously accelerated a little harder until nothing flashed up and could then drive normally and then I used the additive regularly and never had an issue again. going back to the glow plug issue there is a regulator box on some models that the plugs are wired too this can be an issue too but normally its the glow plug giving up, most competent garages can give you an analysis on the engine and components with an in depth analyzer that doesn't just to engine management faults. So if you drive gently until the additive works or you get it cleaned out it wont drop you into limp home mode and will not hurt the engine just frustrate you, happy new year please post eventual finalization for all to see. I do like the invisibilityness of it though. It's a nice car but it doesn't broadcast wealth. It's a very honest car but it's nice enough to not feel like a budget car. Unlike new cars it was designed to be a bit more sophisticated and a bit more subtle with its styling. It's not meant to be a show-off car and that to me is a great thing. It's why I like Lexus products since they are nice but they don't make you look like a rich jerk like a BMW or a Mercedes would do.

Got right to the point. Bend it out, don't break it, comes off sideways. 👍

Other honorable mentions would be 25+ year old turbo JDM JZX's and 4 door Skylines with low mileage. You can get decent stuff for under $30k.
