Driving Tour of Hico, Texas – Trying Something New!
We wanted to bring you along on a driving tour to see more of the small Texas town of Hico. About half way through we had the idea to do picture-in-picture with commentary.. what do y'all think?
One thing we will improve on our next ride along is to get a mount for the interior camera. We liked chatting as we drive together, but think it could be smoother having the camera mounted instead of handheld.
We hope you enjoy coming along with us - Let us know what you'd like to see / how we can improve this idea in future videos!
Thanks for watching and we'll see you on the next trip :)

No one is moving to Hico to commute to Austin. It is too far away. DFW is closer to Hico than Austin is so they would probably commute that way first. Also, I wouldn’t say Hico is in the Hill Country. Great video btw. Always good to see small towns that time seems to have forgotten.

Enjoyed seeing my old home town. You missed another historic site in Mineral Wells, that being the old Fort Wolters. It was the primary helicopter training center for helicopter pilots going to Vietnam. I worked at the heliport at Palo Pinto, west of Mineral Wells, during my high school days. The base was huge in it's heydays, but closed down sometime in the early 1970's. The town really went down hill after that, as the Fort was the main employer in that area. Both of my parents work at Fort Wolters, and retired when the Fort closed. The town never has really recovered from that situation.

At ua-cam.com/video/2Q4-vxtaFuA/v-deo.html they pass the early Norwood Hospital, once with two stories, later added one to make tree. I seem to remember visiting it as a child in the 60's.

The tall building at ua-cam.com/video/2Q4-vxtaFuA/v-deo.html was the old Box Factory that boxed Crazy Water Crystals & shipped them by train on the rails still there out to the entire world where they were famous. My dad drove truck there when it was Pollock Paper Company back in 1962, I remember picking him up after a run.

There is the small town of Putnam that was known for their "magical" water too. Just now looking it up online, it actually states that it wasn't exploited because of the high amount of competition from Mineral Wells. I'm only about 20 miles from there.

I am 77 now but twice in my life I lived in Mineral Wells. I loved your video but was hoping to see the 1st Presbyterian Church where my husband was pastor for a while. When I was there back in the 70s my husband was stationed at Fort Wolters and I worked at the Arts n Craft Shop. I loved that little town so much and I saw places during your tour that I did recognize. I was a member of the Womens Club at the old Post Office. Thank you so much for giving me so much joy watching this.

I have a suggestion - why not visit a small town not that far and do an investigative report? Why not a trip to Stephenville and ask about the UFO a few years ago? Ask if more have been seen since, were they seen before, any reports of abductions or missing time....... Has any one not spoken up that would be willing to do so now that Congress has said they exist? Oh yeah you could come up with some awesome ideas for questions.

I live in Wichita Falls Texas and have been to Mineral Wells many times because they have some great mountain bike trails around Mineral Wells lake. Been trough the town a couple of times but never really did any site seeing. I should have because it really looks cool. Think how old all those buildings are in that town. I love old towns where they paint the advertising right on the side of the buildings instead of hanging a sign. There is a house somewhere there in town or the outskirts of town that is said to be the most haunted house in the US. It was investigated on the Travel Channel show " The Portals Of Hell " With Jack Osbourne. Never heard of the house but would like to see it. I don't think I want to go inside though. Love your channel and loved the tour of the city and of course Bones. Keep up the great videos and really enjoyed it.
